It's like 9/11 conspiracy theorists at this point. Not enough evidence, but they desperately want it to be true.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but IDW is rebooting the GB comics in February with a mostly female team (three girls, one dude).

Going by that poster, my choices for the three female cast members are as follows:

Janine Melnitz - Emma Stone (I realize she's too young for the part, but she wouldn't necessarily have to play the original Janine, but a similar-type character)

Kylie Griffin - Aubrey Plaza

Special Agent Melanie Ortiz - Cobie Smulders

Because they are going to die? What else do they really have to do? Is anybody besides Dan Aykroyd and maybe Harold Ramis really asking for an old washed up Ghostbusters movie without Bill Murray?

On a lighter note, just found out that Toys R Us has retro " Real Ghostbusters " action figures, this time with cloth uniforms. So far I've seen Venkman, Spengler, and a Janine/Sam Hain two-pack.

Better grab them up, pretty sure they are canceled as well as the entire Mattel GB line, even though we were promised more figures including Real Ghostbusters designs in the movie lines. But such is Mattel I guess.,

There is no "forever" in Hollywood. They'll just wait 30, 40 years until they're dead when they won't need their ok and they'll just remake it.

That'll depend on the legal status of the guy's rights. If the rights revert back to the studio upon their death... that's always possible. If they remain with the families... different story.

Murray knows it was time to walk away long ago. Akroyd unfortunately most likely due to where his career is at now is still super gung-ho.

If Akroyd had as fulfilling a later career as murray has had, i'm almost positive he wouldn't be pushing this so hard.

Eh, IDK. Aykroyd LOVES Ghostbusters. In large part because it's been his baby since the beginning. He originally started pushing for a 3 not all that long after No. 2... and hasn't really stopped since. He's taken occasional breaks, but he always comes back to it.

if a third movie didn't happen in the 90s and it didn't happen in 2009 (25th anniversary), i really doubt it will happen now

Like I said earlier, At this point, I'd just be happy with a new cartoon. Get the writers from the new TMNT show on Nick, and have it animated by the " Young Justice " animators, and I'd be a happy camper.

At this point, I wouldn't even let Reitman direct GB3. He hasn't been that good as of late. And I'd agree if they were going to do GB3, they should've done it back in the 90's or 2009. What Ackroyd has to accept is that he may have to minimize the roles of the original Busters even further. In fact, maybe just have Dan himself come back at this point. Or maybe Ernie Hudson. (Seriously Dan and Ernie are the only two who still look youthful at their age. Bill Murray looks fine but he's looking old now and Ramis...that's a whole different story...At least Bill still looks like Bill.)

And yes it's time for a new cartoon.

Poor Dan Ackroyd is reminding me of how Todd McFarlene has publicized the coming of 'Spawn 2' every friggin' year for the past two decades.
