Ghostbusters 3 - Part 2

A Ghostbusters reboot seems like a really bad idea, be it a female or male cast. This just seems like a really easy way to annoy a whole lot of people.

I don't mind changes in race or sex as long as it isn't forced and can work.

I remember when people were against Miles Spidey because he's black but I liked the idea and love Miles. Not really controversial but Copperhead (DC) is a male but in Arkham Origins he is a female and it actually worked out and improved the character in a positive direction. Hell I supported Michael B Jordan for the Torch. I don't mind castings for an actor who isn't the same race as a character. MCD was great as Kingpin, Fishburne was a good Perry. Hell I'm more mad at Jesse being Lex then Jordan as Johnny.

It's when you force change. There is no reason to reboot Ghostbusters by only doing a female only team. Hell even though Ghostbusters were all male, you still had Sigourney Weaver who was one of the biggest actresses and got higher billing then Ernie Hudson in the credits. Maybe if they were the daughters of the original Busters, I could get behind it.

Also yea. The fact that the original films aren't canon are the biggest problem. It's just dumb. Sony is desperate and needs hits and will do whatever they can to milk franchises.

Even if this was only male, I still hate the idea of rebooting Ghostbusters. It's so ****ing stupid. It's like rebooting Star Wars.

I seriously doubt that this will make it to production as a straight up reboot with no connection to the previous films.

it seems like from that interview that they want to be able to do a new film finally but not tick off the fan base in the process. Bridesmaids and the heat were terrible comedies and yet this director got the gig.

I didn't even bother with those movies since they looked horrid in the trailers. However the bottom line is they made quite a profit and that's the ultimate bottom line with studio execs. Personally I'll pass on this. I just saw Ghostbusters on the big screen about a month ago and it still holds up very well to this day. That movie is pretty much all the Ghostbusters I really need.

Really not intrigued by the idea of rebooting, regardless of the race or gender of the cast. Can't say I have much hype for this film after this.

I'm calling it now. If this reboot fails, it will be because we're all sexist basement-dwelling misogynist nerd pigs who didn't give women a chance.

That's the way Hollywood works these days. It relies on scapegoat blanket arguments and ad hominems to silence people. No matter how many times we bring up potential issues with the film...all of that won't matter.

Pretty much.

I never liked the idea of making another GB or rebooting it. However what's funny is that at least for me personally it's not even so much about it being women it's just something I find completely unecessary. I'm all about women having better representation on film. With that said out of curiosity if say they cast say Kaitlin Olson and Jessica Chastain I'd actually give this a shot. Simply because I find them very interesting and talented. Same with Murray's Linda Cardellini suggestion.

But Melissa McCarthy? that chick is a hack that got very lucky. I can't think of one thing I've seen her in where I actually enjoyed her presence. I don't really get Kristen Wiig at all either. Then again I haven't watched an episode of SNL in almost 15 years so I have no real attachment to any of their more recent cast veterans. So the fact that it's not an idea I even agree (rebooting or further sequelizing GB) with anyway and it might likely feature a cast of people I don't even care for I don't see the point of me ever entertaining even watching it.

I could have been cool with an all female cast if they were daughters or at least one was a daughter to an original Ghostbuster.

But for me, the biggest problem with an all female cast is ****ing Melissa McCarthy will be one of them. Have her in a Feig film is like having Perlman in a Del Toro film or Caine in a Nolan film or Jackson in a Tarantino film. You know no matter what the director is doing next, one of those I mentioned will likely be involved in their film.

If by God's power somehow Melissa McCarthy isn't in it, I would give it a chance at the least.

What if she's playing a client that Slimer is eating all the food in her fridge and calls the Ghostbusters?:woot:

I may be able to stand that but Feig said he doesn't want to ruin the memory of the first films so it's unlikely they will take a nod to it.

We could have had a Ghostbusters 3 YEARS ago if freaking Bill Murray didn't hem and haw around because the other cast members were game.

We got the video game though which is better IMO. I mean would you rather have a 2 hour film or like 8 hour Ghostbuster game that's a third film basically?

I'll take the game.

What I'm wondering is why are they even doing this. Is there an audience?

That is not the problem. At least not for me. It's more why an all female team? It's like rebooting Charlie's Angels and having an all black male team just because.

I would love to see Emma Stone in the film but it shouldn't just be females. Hell have 2 males & 2 females with Dan & Ernie kind of the leaders like the Charles Xavier of the Ghostbusters since Bill doesn't want to do it and Ramis is dead.

And the fact the director's favorite actress who's been in his last 3 films is Melissa McCarthy and I can't stand her. She's not funny at all and does the same "I'm fat" comedic ********.

This pretty much sums up my feelings.

He is ruining the first movie either way by rebooting it & in a crappy way at that

That interview has deflated my interest big time.

I'll be honest, I was never going to go see a Ghostbusters film without the original cast anyways. It doesn't matter what they do.

It really does need to be in continuity. Just say that there was a spark in supernatural activity from out of nowhere and they had to heed the call. They weren't part of the franchised GB but at the end of the flick they become full fledged. ****, I would at least find that passable.

Let's be honest everyone here is gonna go see this new ghostbusters movie regardless of what happems production wise. Everyone will see it just to come back here and say how much they hated it or how it ruined their childhood ( somehow) or some will be here to say how much they liked it. Ha ha

Yeah....no!

Me for example to this day I've never seen Indiana Jones and The Crystal Skull, Iron Man 3 or any of the Transformers sequels. I don't plan on ever seeing this years Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles either. Some of us don't waste our times with things that don't interest us even if we generally enjoy the franchise it is a part of.

This will come and go and I will never give it a look. Yet the original Ghostbusters will always be on my shelf so if I ever feel I need a GB fix I have something that could quench the thirst.

Yeah, you do have me there. The ****ing thing is Ghostbusters, a movie we haven't had in the theatre for a couple decades. People will be dying to see what ILM does effects wise now. I assume they're still on it.

It was literally in select theaters nationwide just one month ago. It's how I finally got to see it on the big screen after all these years of watching it on TVs.

I'm perfectly okay with an all-female team. I'm just really bummed that this won't have ANY connection with the original universe.

Ghostbusters, as a name brand and franchise, has always been about that world and characters. That's what people love. Sure, the idea is golden (sci-fi/horror/comedy mashup) but without the world around it...it would have failed.

While I'm obviously going to see this reboot, I will always wonder "what could have been" with an actual film continuation in the original universe.

This new film will be interesting to follow. I wonder what the tone will be? The director mentioned it being actually scary. I'm looking forward to see what new ideas they will bring to the table, but I'm still really bummed that it isn't in the same world as the first films.

I have a great idea for Ghostbusters 3 that will make everyone happy:

Don't make the movie.
