Ghostbusters 3 - Part 2

I'm very fine even happy with a all-female cast, bring it I say. But another reboot? I have been disappointed by too many reboots to be optimistic about this. Ghostbusters could have a rich universe that doesn't need a reboot, plenty of games, comics, and even animated series have done it just fine.

Please let them find a way to turn into a sequel instead of a reboot!

Sadly I think Feige is making it very clear he wants this to be his own thing, not tied down by continuity.

Yeah, he talks about how he wouldn't know how to do it...that is when I go "bye! Next!" Somebody else would be able to find a way...:(

I'd be quite happy with that as well if it weren't for Paul Feig. The Heat and Bridesmaids don't inspire confidence, imo.

Its like theyve never heard or Extreme Ghostbusters.

That said, it would be funny to see the original cast show up as witnesses to see the new team get sued for copyright infringement (provided that Ghostbusters, the film, exists in this universe).

Stantz moved to L.A. in the early 90's had a kid (played by Stone) Dana moves out there with oscar (chris pratt) after Venkman loses his **** for some reason (maybe he saw stantz's wife and egon die) they raise their kids together, stone's character goes to school, maybe one of her teachers (Wiig?) is into parapsychology and whatever Venkman saw take Egon and stantz's wife rears it's ugly head again. in the sequel they go back to new york and look for Venkman in a crazy house or something. :csad:

New director, new cast, new continuity... This isn't going to be Ghostbusters. It's going to be a movie about a team of women who have encounters with ghosts.

I wish they'd just cook up their own property.

Bridesmaids and The Heat weren't "dick and fart comedy" by any means. They're probably two of the best female led comedies (along with Pitch Perfect) of the past couple of years I'd say.

I said female versions of that trope, tit jokes, angry period jokes, ******* jokes etc I watched the heat and never laughed once, that type of comedy can work and work well but it's hardly the type of humour that comes to mind when you think ghostbusters.

As for the whole "ohh my god girls" backlash that doesn't bother me do I prefer a mixed group yes because I think it leads to better story oppertunitys but if it's all women not gonna be a major factor as long as the characters are well developed.

Ironically like I said all through production of ninja turtles just take the Idw series and adapt stories from that, both are bloody great series, sadly though the go one has been cancelled

I am so excited for the new ghostbusters now! I wish I could buy my ticket already.

There's so many great actresses who deserve a go. Aisha tyler, margaret cho, Kristen wiig, Anna ken drink, Catherine Tate, Tina fey. I literally can't wait for casting

Also a large female cast is fine but I would think if the budget is fairly sizable they're going to need to lure men in to see this and not have them head for the hills in revulsion.

This is going to shock you...but men can see movies with women in it too! :wow:

Well sure.

If they like the women. If they like what the story entails.

Sex and the City Ghosts starring Melissa McCarthy won't get it done.

To me anyway it's just not Ghostbusters one way or another whether it's one girl or a bunch of them, Ghostbusters has, is and will always be those main 4 actors and Sigourney Weaver. Without those characters the series no-longer has a soul in my book, it's just another empty rebooted franchise.

The same cast weren't enough for the first sequel to be anything other than a dissapointment. Growing up with THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS as well I accept there's far more to the concept than just Murray and co.

Besides I'm more genuinely intrigued in a sequel with an all female cast than any reboot since the then unusual casting of Daniel Craig as Bond for CR.

Firstly Feig's prior work is hardly deriative of Sex and the City and secondly most men like McCarthy (who will definitely be asked to participate in this first) who is currently our biggest comedy film star...and that popularity isn't just down to women despite what the majority of mostly male internet posters think.

Exactly! Why not just create an entirely new story that has nothing at all to do with Ghostbusters? There's nothing left of the original concept except the logo and the title anyway, and they probably won't even use the original logo. Just make it a funny movie about women who hunt ghosts. It doesn't have to be "Ghostbusters", especially since there is absolutely nothing tying it to that world except the basic concept of ghost busting which is hardly unique to the 1984 movie.

Far more? How? They may have been different voices but the kids of the 80s just cared about seeing their favorite characters. Real Ghostbusters featured the same exact ones. That's why people watched the show and it lasted 7 seasons. When they dropped most the characters in Extreme Ghostbusters the show only lasted what a season? The Game sold over a million copies in 2009 because of the returning cast. Those characters have been the franchise for 30 years. That is a long friggen time.

I'm completely down to giving this thing a chance but without those characters, this franchise would be nothing. Success without them is completely unproven. It's like Back To The Future without Marty Mcfly and Doc Brown. A reboot not based on a comic without any of the returning characters has never been done on this level. It's a huge risk to the Ghostbusters name, and actually probably shouldn't go by that title because it's losing the reason why people regard it as one of the best comedies of all time. They have to impress beyond belief here, cause they are setting up expectations that just won't be met with having that title alone.

If they at least had Aykroyd and Hudson returning they can recruit and pass the torch. Which would no doubt make this a much easier transition for something that has never gone out of their characters world.

An all female team? A reboot? None of the original cast?

Not interested. After Harold Ramis died, my interest went down, now after hearing this, zero interest whatsoever.

Sorry I grew up with the movies and cartoons, guess the videogame will be my Part 3 of the series and not this nonsense.

I really wanted to see a new Ghosbusters movie made in a right way. This doesn't sounds like it. They could have just make it in the style of the Extreme Ghostbusters cartoon.

:(

"OH NO AN ALL FEMALE TEAM!! THIS ISN'T GHOSTBUSTERS!!! WTF!! UGH!!"

For pete's sake, seriously. Heaven forbid we have one damn film where middle aged white males aren't the main characters.

What are the filmmakers thinking???? I don't mind an all female cast for the Ghostbusters but I do have a HUGE problem with the movie being a total reboot and not even referencing the original movies or cast in any way. No cameos REALLY??!!! This isn't even a Ghostbusters movie it it doesn't exist in the same universe as the original movies! Unless things improve I think I will pass on this movie. At this point, I think fans of Ghostbusters should consider the game that came out back in 2009 for Xbox 360 and PS3 as the official Ghostbusters 3.

my sentiments exactly

the proposed Ghosbusters 3 film should have stayed in development hell permanently once Ramis died

this new movie that's happening is NOT Ghostbusters

hopefully they don't use the logo we are all familiar with. would hate for one day to be wearing my Ghostbusters shirt and people thinking it is associated with the crap fest in the making

Nothing wrong with an all female team but the rest I agree with.

So wait fans are really mad about it the team being females? Seriously, I don't think there is anything wrong with that, in fact it could be interesting. Not every movie has to white males as the leads. But I agree with the disappointment and anger over the movie being a total reboot with it not existing in the same universe as the original movie and no references or cameos from the original movies or cast.

That is not the problem. At least not for me. It's more why an all female team? It's like rebooting Charlie's Angels and having an all black male team just because.

I would love to see Emma Stone in the film but it shouldn't just be females. Hell have 2 males & 2 females with Dan & Ernie kind of the leaders like the Charles Xavier of the Ghostbusters since Bill doesn't want to do it and Ramis is dead.

And the fact the director's favorite actress who's been in his last 3 films is Melissa McCarthy and I can't stand her. She's not funny at all and does the same "I'm fat" comedic ********.

I noticed with fanboys they are kinda like republicans afraid of change LOL. If a character in comic or sci fi film is white, black, Asian, male, female then they should stay that way forever in their eyes. If someone takes a risk or takes some creative liberties it suddenly becomes a betrayal or abomination etc. Seriously were the original movies defined by the cast being males? Did being a male have any bearing on being a ghostbuster? If for some reason there was a logical reason WHY ghostbusters have to be male in terms of story then I would agree keep them male. But since it doesn't then whats the problem? I don't mind watching some attractive girls busting ghosts on film ha ha. Besides, an all female team is the least of this films problems from the looks of it. But I also wouldn't mind seeing a mixed team two males and two females, just to please the fans. The bigger issue is the fact that it's a total reboot that doesn't exist in the same universe as the original films, which means no references or cameo's from the original cast.
