Ghostbusters 3 - Part 4

At this point I feel people complaining about the car are just having a hard time removing their nostalgia goggles. I'm not crazy about this film, but the stuff being released as far as looks go is on point. Streamlined while still being modern and referencing the old.

Be honest, is this car so different from the original Ecto 1? Not really, just a little more simpler/streamlined once again.

So will the film have a remake of this song?

And if so, will it be done by Pharrell Williams?

This film has one of the biggest mysteries of them all......why didn't any of the writers contact Bill Murray when the third movie featured the original gang? Ask him to see what he wants in the movie.

If they had done that, we'd all mark out right now about set photos of Bill Murray once again as Venkman. Even without Harold Ramis, the return of Winston, Ray and Venkman would have made us all anticipate a third movie.

Why was that hard to do?

Does this movie take place in the '80s like the original? Because every tech they showed could easily be from that era. I don't get it.
Interesting approach though. Nothing can beat the Ecto-1 but the proton packs are actually cool.

That's actually a very valid point.

I miss the blue lights and the fins. Other than that it looks okay. I like the ghost hood ornament.

This isn't a mystery and they have contacted Murray, numerous times over the years. Aykroyd has been trying to get Murray onboard since the 90's but everytime he sent him a script, he never read it.

(When Aykroyd was writing his Hellbent script Murray agreed to do a cameo, if he could play a ghost.)

Bill Murray LOVES Ghostbusters but he was never going to come back. Unlike most he was smart enough to know better than to go back to the well and leave well enough alone. I know most fans don't want to hear that but it's true.

I definitely think we'll be seeing Dan Aykroyd in this (he was on the call sheet). Maybe Ernie Hudson. As different characters though.

I'm not understanding the obsession with stripes.

Even the new Ecto-1 has stripes...

All the props and costumes and such seem pretty decent so far, which is at least something. Still not exactly looking forward to this as Paul Feig is 0/2 for me, but that's something. :)

I'll have to agree that it wouldn't make much sense to use a '59 caddy, but this still looks like a ****** dime store replica. I understand everything is supposed to look "slapped together" but if these ladies are trying to run a business and want to be taken seriously, they need a better vehicle. I'm more inclined to believe that when the government starts backing them up, they upgrade the equipment and car. At least I'm hoping, I'm not a supporter of this particular project but I am a supporter of Ghostbusters and this movie is going to be imprinted on a new generation.

i am so happy that fans in general complain about everything with this movie even when its obvious that they liked parts of it. why not go full ''hypocrite''

i think if everything was the same and the 4 members were male that literally everything would get praised. everything.

I am digging the hood ornament reminds me of the no ghosts logo on the hood of the real ghostbusters ecto 1.

So...I've been out of the loop - is this set in the '80's? I hadn't even thought about that possibility 'til now, but I'd dig it.

nope modern times while the plate on the car looks like the one on the 80's Ecto, current NY plates are currently retro dark blue lettering over a yellow background like they had back then.

here is my car with the current 'retro' plate which I think looks great with the retro styling of my car ;).

i think when they were filming outside the extras were wearing modern clothes. but looking at the main cast. its hard to see any modern clothing on them.

I know that's the iconic logo, but for some reason it looks a little different to me. I wonder if this one will have the siren.

Thinner circle. They really should have updated the logo to something new. At present everything visually feels like a fan film.

It's alright! It's not horrible. I prefer the less boxy look of the original but this isn't bad. It seems they are trying to keep things as close to the original feel as possible which is a great sign.

I actually don't mind everything I'm seeing, shockingly. Everything is looking pretty good. If I can just visually see a new Ghostbusters film, that's totally awesome with me. The costumes and car are perfect. Storywise, the 80s equipment and the old car make sense in 2015 because the ladies are obviously poor and can only afford outdated stuff. Still not a fan of Wiig and McCarthy or Feig as a director, but I absolutely adore McKinnon. I'm basically neutral on everyone else involved. I never thought I'd say it, but aside from two actresses and the director, I feel there might be more positives to this project than negatives. :wow:

Everything from this movie looks like the cheap "store brand" knock off.

Maybe but it doesn't mean that people have anything to against women. For many people it is like if they made a new Indiana Jones movie and made him a woman. I know it's not the same thing but it feels like it.

I really don't think so. When they were filming at one location in Boston they had NY taxis out front and they were modern.

I can't remember if it was mentioned here or somewhere else, but the style of hearse used for Ecto 1 in this looks about as old to the new Busters as the '59 ambulance was to the original Busters. Might have been a line of reasoning for using that body style.

Like the pack, the Ecto is growing on me. I imagine most of our problem with Ecto 1 is that she's always been as important a character as Venkman, Stantz, Zeddemore, and Spengler. We've cut connections with the other characters, but not this one and so it's hard not to look pass 31 years of being in love with this thing. Also, as has been pointed out, so many proppers have made their own unique replicas and they've all been fantastic. So to compare the new film's designs to a fan film isn't really a jab. :cwink:

McKinnon is awesome and I hope this is a breakout performance for her. The first set photos of her were great and can't wait to see here suited up. I've had my reservations about McCarthy, but I know she can pull it off and, like you said, to many positives for me to even think of the negatives.

I always said it would come down to the uniform and equipment for me. So far I am very pleased. Just need to see a trap and PKE. Need to see belt gizmos too. Seeing McCarthy in the flight suit is not enough. Need to see it all together.

Also, saw a closer pic of McCarthy on another site. The nametag on her suit says Yates.
