Which then begs the question, why the hell are you releasing a teaser now.

Well, it was an announcement teaser showing the classic Ecto-1 and no connection to the failed reboot. I presume it was mostly for the hardcore fans who follow this stuff. So, us :o

The teaser got me excited because it felt to me like a way of saying, "We're serious this time, this is actually happening, get excited". There have been so many false starts with GB3 over the years. I thought it was smart way to plant the seeds of anticipation early vs. a debate of whether this would actually come to fruition.

I really don't think Sony or Jason Reitman did anything wrong with the way they've handled anything so far.

It's gonna feel awfully weird without Ramis in this, but obviously that's not a non-starter. A nice tribute to him somehow and bumping up Ernie to a bigger role will be just fine.

Wish they could have found a way to get the original guys back while Ramis was still around though. Oh well, imperfect world.

Didn't they have a bunch of trouble getting Murray to agree to do a third in the days before it turned into a reboot, though? Guess Reitman Sr's probably involved in this consultant-wise and that's probably enough to get Bill back, but still.

As much as the loss of Egon will hurt, the bigger loss will be on the script.

But hey, Blues Brothers 2000 worked out, so this should as well.

Hey, I love Ramis but his writing wasn’t always a slam dunk either. Year One, anyone?

I want to see Ray back in his occult bookstore with a clunky 90's computer that Egon uploaded himself into.

Write a scene for Murray by all means but maybe try making a great film to entice him in instead of threatening litigation.

I honestly wouldn't mind if just Ray and Winston showed up. Those two are the most ok with returning and they are the two characters that would seem more willing to continue the Busters franchise in a mentor role. I liked the dynamic between the two of them as well in the previous movies

Yeah I'd be fine with that too. With the passing of our beloved Egon, it's not like we'll have the team back in full anyway. I'd prefer to save screen time for people who want to be there as well.

Yeah, if Murray doesn't want any part of it, then there's no need to bring him back. But I'd love to see Akroyd, Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney back if they want to be. And Rick Moranis of course. Is he acting again?

Rick has not returned. Surprised he hasn't started doing the same type of films Murray has been doing, films directed by Wes Anderson or Jim Jarmusch. Seems to be right up his alley.

Rick Moranis seems to be extremely picky about what he does in recent years. personally i don't think he will be apart of it.

He turned down a cameo in the 2016 movie claiming it made no sense for him to return for one days work on something he done 30 years ago.

Well, I am glad he didn't waste his time for a lousy cameo, when he wouldn't have even played his old Ghostbusters character.

Getting Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver back in the movie would be great. Even if it was just an extended cameo though a bigger role would be more enticing.

Sigourney Weaver would probably be open to it. still don't think Rick Moranis though.

I don't think Rick Moranis was biased towards the 2016 movie. he said he hoped it would be great but just didn't see the point in making an appearance in it. personally am not sure that will change much for this sequel.

His acting credits kinda stop at 2009, if you don't count a small voice over for The Goldbergs last year.

Moranis has more or less retired from acting. Outside the bit he did for The Goldbergs last year he hasn't been in or voiced anything in over a decade. I think if anything could get him back at all though it might be reuniting with the original Ghostbusters cast.

The working title for this is apparently "Rust City" on Production Weekly

Probably doesn't mean anything, but thats what they decided to put it down as.

Moranis retired from acting after the death of his wife to focus on raising his kids. After he did that bit on the Goldbergs he announced he was ready to return and is just "waiting for the right roles". If they offer him a real part in this, not a random cameo like the '16 movie, I think he'd take it.

I hate you. :funny:

Interesting about Moranis showing up on The Goldbergs, hadn't heard about that. Bailed on that show pretty soon after the pilot, seemed like every other sitcom, niche-Modern-Family-clone like Fresh Off The Boat (only the latter's actually marginally funny), but gonna have to check out that episode if it's featuring Rick after 20 years out of showbusiness. What is it, like a riff on Spaceballs & Little Shop Of Horrors?

I had not read he was ready to return to acting for the right roles. His kids would all be adults several years ago but he did not came back.

This was when the reboot was coming out and why he didn’t cameo.

"I took a break, which turned into a longer break," he says. "But I'm interested in anything that I would find interesting. I still get the occasional query about a film or television role" — he's repped by the Santa Monica-based endorsement firm Bailey Brand Management — "and as soon as one comes along that piques my interest, I'll probably do it. [But Ghostbusters] didn't appeal to me."

Rick Moranis Reveals Why He Turned Down 'Ghostbusters' Reboot: "It Makes No Sense to Me"

This is why I am a bit surprised he has yet to appear in a Wes Anderson movie. I would think that those type of films would be of interest to him and besides it would be nice to see a reunion between him and Murray in a Wes Anderson film. Wes Anderson films seem like the type that Moranis would do these days

12-year-old actress Sarah Abbott, who appeared in episodes of Heroes Reborn and Black Mirror, is reportedly among the young tryouts auditioning for Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters 3, according to HN Entertainment.

According to character descriptions shared by HN Entertainment, one of the roles is a 13-year-old boy described as “a conspiracy theorist” deeply into fantasy, and another is a 12-year-old girl described as a “science kid” who has difficulties connecting emotionally, unaware she makes comments others find offensive.

Descriptions for the remaining two leads have yet to surface.
