I'll be happy if the ghost in the logo is throwing up three fingers similar to II.

But what would the “in world” significance be? With II at least they played with the idea of the ghost giving the peace sign, considering the entire plot revolved around people being jerks to each other.

A ghost giving a III would mean what to the people of that world? That they’ve been back 3 times now?

Anyway, I see this underperforming next year just like Men in Black/Terminator this year.

Reasons being?

I don't think that, if this movie underperforms, it will be due to "general audiences" not being interested in them. It's not the only reason why International and Dark Fate failed to meet expectations.

Glad someone got the "Peace sign" metaphor. The logo ghost holding up three fingers wouldn't make any sense, and I'm betting they're simply using the original logo from the first movie.

It wouldn't have to mean anything. It could just appear in the intro when the logo appears. Then Ghostbusters would have the normal logo in the actual movie. I hope it happens. New Star Wars movies have the episode number in the opening crawl but not in the official title.

Well didnt the last one already underperformed globally? And is thegeneral public really clamoring for another Ghostbusters movie especially after the last one. I don't think so.

And I doubt that would make a difference. The Ghostbusters franchise isn't Star Wars or Jurassic Park. Ghostbusters 2016 earned less than 250 million worldwide. And this upcoming movie coming out in the middle of the summer would not help at all.

The filmography of Jason Reitman is actually quite impressive and interesting. He is the one behind all my hopes for this film to be good. And it's a property very linked to himself, so it's gotta be something special for him.

Tried to watch this last night but gave up after 15 minutes, the "humour" felt like it was written by a 5 year old.

Yeah, I said the exact same thing. It reminded me a of a Scooby Doo movie more so than a Ghostbusters movie.

..and they didn't beat the baddie by shooting it in the genitals. Still cringe-inducing. Honestly, Holtzman is the only character that is worth a crap out of all of them.

I guess we'll just see. No way to be certain that it'll be a failure or success yet

It needs to do three basic things:

1) Do NOT suck.
2) Continue the ORIGINAL Ghostbusters saga.
3) Ignore that the 2016 reboot ever happened (or, better yet, have some kid watching it on TV, and saying that they are lame compared to the "real" ones).
4) Do NOT suck!
5) Be good at math!! (get it? I posted 3 basic things...and there are 5 on the list...and...what would you know about funny?!)

What’s so exciting about this is we’ve seen absolutely nothing, only that slate photo.

The wonder of what a third Ghostbusters movie for 30 years will finally be teased. I hope they show our three main guys, even just a hint ala Force Awakens teaser with Harrison Ford and Chewie.

The film I picture could be really good. I'm anxious though.

Holtzman is the only character that is worth a crap out of all of them.

I see a lot of love for Holtzman and I do not share it. I expected her to be my favourite thing in the movie, but she ended up being the worst for me. She's one-note 'wacky', constantly mugging for the camera and generally being irritating. In a double twist, Leslie Jones' character was my favourite after looking like a disaster in the trailers. She actually felt like a person who was experiencing things and not just waiting for a chance to quip. Not to bag on the cast though, they've all done much better with better material.
