Giuliani: Worse Than Bush?

I never got caught up in all the hoopla about him after 9/11.::down

Rolling Stone is never the source where I look to for cold hard, non-biased news.

Good lord, I didn't know that Giuliani was that big of an *******. It's not like I intended to vote for him but I had no clue. I'm either voting for Obama or Edwards anyways. If those two don't make I'm not going to vote like I did for the last two elections.

Agreed. I don't like Bush at all, but I'm sick of Rolling Stone these days. They're not a freaking political magazine, they're supposed to be the premiere music magazine (and even that they were never that good at). They're not Time or Newsweek.

"Indeed, Rudy has had little at all to say about the issue. About the only move he's made to address the problem was to write a letter urging Congress to pass a law capping the city's liability at $350 million.

Did Giuliani know the air at the World Trade Center was poison? Who knows -- but we do know he took over the cleanup, refusing to let more experienced federal agencies run the show. He stood on a few brick piles on the day of the bombing, then spent the next ten months making damn sure everyone worked the night shift on-site while he bonked his mistress and negotiated his gazillion-dollar move to the private sector. Meanwhile, the people who actually cleaned up the rubble got used to checking their stool for blood every morning."

Christy Whitman is taking some heat for this as well.

Me either, but...the things outlined in the article about him are pretty damning and easy to verify. *shrug*

I read part of it, but quit. Nothing in there really seemed worth talking about or should be relevant to who is or isn't President. I'm not voting for him, but I try to be fair.

Could anybody who read the whole thing tell me if there isn't anything important in the article?

Really? I can't imagine why someone wouldn't place their trust in a magezine about music and pop culture. I mean, it's not like they just repeat what they read in the newspaper to try and sound smart.

These "revelations" wouldn't surprise anyone somewhat familiar with Gulliana.

That dude's all kinds a' fascist.

I posted that several weeks ago. Good article though.

Guiliani was never much of a Mayor. I think his two best achievements are his crisis management during 9/11 and kicking out all the homeless people...but to where?

That great big cardboard box in the sky.

they were arrested to keep them off the streets during the winter.:o

to his credit, he did clean the crap out of Times Square.

Rolling Stone :whatever:

so if Rolling Stone published an article about how falling from the 60th floor of a building might kill you you wouldn't believe it either.

apparently Rolling Stone isn't the only one "trying to sound smart".

and for whoever said that Rolling Stone has recently gotten political?
yeah, you're like 12 or something because Rolling Stone has ALWAYS included a healthy dose of politics in most issues.

:whatever:

Yeah, he definitely is. My wife was living in NYC when he was mayor and she can't stand him. At all. I knew he was dirty but it was a bit appalling to see it all laid out in black and white like that.

And to you people b1tching about the source (Rolling Stone), maybe you should try reading the damn article. It's a decent bit of investigative journalism by a freelance reporter. And, Sparkle is right. RS has always had political stories running in their mag. No, they're not my first stop for news coverage, but occasionally you'll find something well done and interesting in places that you normally wouldn't look.

These people have apparently never heard of Hunter S. Thompson :o

But he's smarter than Bush :oldrazz:

Like most aspects of the arts, Rolling Stone began to decline in the 80s.

I'm not unfamiliar with Rolling Stone, I had a (free) subscription to them a year ago. What I'm rolling my eyes at is the fact that Rolling Stone is barely a source for unbiased news. Those things about Giuliani could be true, I don't like the man myself and I can't see myself voting for him in the primaries. But the entire damn magazine is littered with liberal propaganda...much like anything I see on Fox News I'm going to take it with a grain of salt.

The article was written by a freelance journalist, not a RS staffer. It's a good article and I have yet to see any data that refutes what is laid out in it.
