God of War II: Last gen ends when we say so

...Wow, that is stupid.
The first thing I did, naturally, was attempt it on God mode, the game will be fun regardless of what difficulty I chose, but I rather play with the prospect of unlocking stuff then to go on 15 or so hours just to see myself in a new suit.

The game was stellar though, I loved the massive amount of boss battles, the new abilities, the new baddies, the levels and the interactions were awesome.

I couldn't get over that this was indeed a PS2 game when looking at it.

i don't know what took me so long, but i finally rented any beat this game over the last week, and wow.

this is definately one of the better games i can remember playing for the ps2, if not just any system. it's about as close to perfect as a game can get.

i can't wait to see what they'll do with 3, with the new powers of fate, and the titans on your side. i just didn't care for the ending of 2 that much, solely for the fact that
you spend the whole game trying to get to zeus to kill him, and he just limps away, blah.

but that's my only real complaint. well, that, and there were a few parts that were just impossible to figure out, and one or two areas where the next door or hall or whatever was not visible due to the camera, and it took an hour to figure out where to go.

What took YOU so long? I bought God of War ONE yesterday.

Its bloody awesome though, can't wait to get 2.

I have a lot of minor complaints abut it but I'm going to save it until I've beaten Titan mode. ANy tips for getting past the 'protect the translator' sequence? What magic/weapon power ups should I invest etc?

the giant hammer's really good maxed out, because you can conjure up souls to attack your enemies while you do other things. they don't do much damage, that i can tell, but they keep the bad guys busy. the spear is more or less useless, except for the time bomb move thing, but even that isn't that worth while (of course, towards the end of the game, you'll have more orbs than you'll know what to do with anyway)

oh, and the last magic you get, the earth one, maxed out, is great for clearing a room.

titan mode, huh? wow. brave.

The only weapon you really need to level up is the Blades of Athena (that is until you beat the game and get the final sword). I never found the hammer or the spear to be all that usefull.

As far as magic, level up Cronus' Rage. Its realy helpful with getting emeies off your back and clearing rooms. Plus it doesnt take that much magic power to use or orbs to level up

The Hammer is very useful if you know how to use it....especially when you trying to beat the game on Titan Model...and the challenge of the Titans...

The spear is great to use on the first level of COT when you have to kill enemies in the air....

I suck at this game. I've died so many times and only on God mode. Games great though.

Just beaten Persues? sp?

Completed 1, absolutely LOVE it. I can't believe how big it is and yet the next one is bigger.

Better yet it looks GREAT, even with next-gen standards I was impressed. Just imagine what God of War 3's going to look like.

Does anyone besides me think they ****ed up a little in the combat department? I personally loved to ram people, but now I have to hold square and then hit square to do it. I wish it was still R1, and if you were near a swingable icon or a box or liftable door or whatever, it would become an action button. And is there a L1+X move, cuz I didn't see one in the manual, nor could I do it in the beginning. I've only just gotten to the Temples of Fate, so I don't know for sure. Other than that, it seems awesome.

Sorry to bump this up, but I'm now playing this game and I'm having a big problem. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

I beat Theseus and got the Horse Keepers' key and tried using to on the emblem, but whenever I use it nothing happens! I can't even move Kratos around anymore. The only thing it'll let me do is pause.

Sounds like a glitch, you might have to restart. :(

AHHH!!! I can't seem to beat Theseus on Titan Mode! When I get to the minotaurs I get pwned.

THesus is difficult but not impossible. The "Protect the translator" bit is nearly impossible UNLESS you follow my tried and true strategy that no one on Youtube posted (serious).

This is how you beat it in under a minute.

What you need

Chain Lighting: Level 3/Full
Blades: Level 2 (could probably do it with no upgrades)

After you've cleared the first area (simple enough to do) and gotten trapped in the area where the translator must read the book...

2 dogs will spawn at the top of the room. Go to the dog on the right and kick it into the dog on the right. At this point the first spell caster will appear and if you are lucky enough you will be able to kick the remaining do into that spellcaster, however this isn't necessary.

Position yourself in the space between the translator and the spellcaster, unlesh 3 chain lightnings as fast as possible. If you've done it correctly the lightnign will also hit the enemies who were moving to attack the translator as well as the spellcaster. The resulting explotions will knock them back and, if you hit the spellcaster with the dog, kill him. If you didn't do the dog bit just beat on the Spellcaster while he's being electrocuted by the chain lighting.

Eitherway as soona s he dies, 2 more will appear in his place. Let off 3 chain lightings again but this time you might have to momentarilly go back the set off a chain lighting to knock away some enemies from the translator. Eitherway set off another chain lighting to kill the spellcasters as they're blown away of you could have switched the rage of the titans mode while they were still being electrocuted from the first 3 bursts.\
After all three of them die just mop up the reamining enemies and you're home free.
