Was taking to my mom yesterday. She had just seen Endgame and we were discussing it when talk turned to GKOTM. She was a G fan back in the day and can't wait to see this.

I really hope this does well...the tracking numbers have me worried.

Frosty's reaction bodes well for myself. Don't always agree but he usually lines up with the popular consensus after the film goes wide.

Why is the early tracking so low? Why aren't people interested?

Plus, that was early tracking, has it improved? If not, when?

I mean the kids are into it as of late, and probably aren't even aware of the older stuff.

There was a lot more hype behind that one, and while it wasn't a disaster, it kinda delivered with a big ol' "meh." It didn't make people hungry for a sequel, so the sequel is gonna have to work double-time to get that interest back. The novelty of seeing what Godzilla's like in this modern blockbuster era is gone.

Sounds like they're on their way, though.

I actually like Godzilla 2014. People retroactively act like it was this big failure.
Everything about that movie works except for the characters. Had Cranston been kept around the entire film, I honestly think we'd be having a different conversation about it.

I like ATJ, I like Elizabeth Olsen, Sally Hawkins and David Stathairn and Ken Watanabe are all great actors. But man, the human characters were dull beyond all reason.

I get that Edwards wanted to take the Jurassic Park/Jaws approach with Godzilla, but it worked for those films because the characters/actors were likable. You don't have that, you're not getting away with it.

The original Godzilla's marketing campaign was pretty damn impressive. Dougherty looks to have made a damn impressive film. But I don't think he was quite able to replicate some of what Edwards did that made those trailers so damn interesting. But, lets see what happens in the last two weeks. WB has been know to pull off miracles from time to time.

Endgame seems to be rather sucking the life out of the box office at the moment. Which is a shame, because this looks like a damn fine monster movie.

Think the last movie just left people disappointed. Too many teasing shots before finally seeing them fight.

I also think people are so used to seeing destruction porn that seeing two big monsters fight in a dark storm doesn’t have the novelty it used to.

If I never see another big cgi movie climax in the dark, with muddy cinematography and incoherent geography, it’ll be too damn soon.

Dark stormy weather for a fight has always been a cliche that works as far as badass goes, so that's part of the excuse. The other being CG can be hidden well with that type of thing.

Yeah, I can understand that, but at this point I don’t care about the box office.. I just want to see all the cgi glory that is Godzilla!! “ Let them Fight” !!!
