Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

I think it's a GREAT idea and gives the human scale drama some teeth if indeed it plays out the way the trailer made it to be. I can't see this being resolved in a "no harm, no foul" way cuz... Well the trailer shows an epic quotient of "foul".

I'm glad though. I thought they were gonna go [BLACKOUT]the preachy way of her character being in the right and not paint her in a bad light, like most Hollywood flicks tackling the topic of "humans are crap, nature is great", but this direction is much more interesting and has more great potential for drama.[/BLACKOUT]

You know when people are discussing being interested side of things in a Godzilla movie, you're doing something right.

I hope it works out. I expected this with the 2014 movie, and then nothing at all really. I am hoping the movie can match the trailer hype.

My impression is this is taking the strengths of both Edwards' film and SKULL ISLAND and combining them and improving on both films' flaws as well.

As much as I'm looking forward to this, it gets me more hyped for Godzilla vs Kong

All I can think of is a quote from the first time I saw a Godzilla movie when I was about 8 on a midnight movie on the uk channel 4

“Don’t just sit there tremble”

:woot: :woot::woot::woot::woot:

I still haven't seen Skull Island, but what would you say is its strengths? I hope this works out. These are the kind of films you go to the theater for.

I mean it's a stupid idea logically, letting creatures off the leash you just assume aren't gonna murder everyone on sight. Obviously they may be slightly benevolent but yeah.

This imagery coupled with the music gave me chills.

Well, extremists aren't exactly logical, so her motivation sorta makes sense in a twisted sort of way.

Has any truly great on film spectacle ever come about because of a good idea, of sound logic? :cwink:

Crazy trailer!

Skull did you make your Avvy? Think you could make me one?

I cropped one of the gifs posted here, resized it and compressed it a little. Which one would you like?

Also, some of us called the Ghidorah enveloped in smoke shot. :woot:

Ot did what Godzill '14 didn't which is get right to it with delivering the creatures and didn't skimp on action/spectacle. It moved fast and was a legit "monster" film with some pretty gruesome kills of human characters. It's flaws were that the human characters outside of Reilly and Jackson were merely serviceable. Not bad but just kinda there. Reilly actually is more than just goofy comic relief and when you get around to it watch through the credits. I actually teared up a bit with what they did with him.
