I like my monster movies foreboding and straight forward, big creature(s) come to **** us up, how do we fight back? where as this seems like it wants to give the monsters heart and a relationship with the humans, maybe touch on environmentalism, which is OK, just not my preference.

You should definitely check out the animated Godzilla movies on Netflix then. The Godzilla there is a force of nature whose only goal is to wipe out humankind.



The Godzilla here seems more ambivalent toward humans. I dont know about how the other monsters feel about humans but from what Vera's character says theyre like a check against us or something.

Rodan is seen doing a lot of damage while flying. And he doesn't seem to appreciate the jets either because he was taking them out mid-air.

Because they started out with obviously good looking footage and constructed a confident and focused teaser. That choice in music helps too.
