Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

I wonder if he does a heel face turn.
According to my source ViewerAnnon,
Rodan is just loyal to whoever the alpha is, even if that is Ghidorah. So he is not inherently a bad guy; once Godzilla dethrones Ghidorah and becomes king, Rodan will follow Godzilla

Correct. He even bows down to Godzilla.

i wonder how many cities are going to end up being destroyed. This would likely incite political chaos in the real world. i'd be curious to see how far the redevelopment efforts in Hawaii, California and Nevada have fared with the first MUTOs and Godzilla attacks.

I hope the fallout from the battles in the first film is addressed and has some part to play in the plot.

I thought the spoilers stated that
Rodan dies
.

Nope, the spoilers said he survived. My source which is ViewerAnnon has said he survives and switches to Godzilla's side once Ghidorah is defeated. He also told me that Mothra and Rodan have a confrontation, leading to Rodan getting heavily wounded.

How does one get a job making trailers anyway?

I don't know but I dated this girl last year who used to go out with one of the guys who edited the Suicide Squad trailer and hoodwinked us all into thinking it might be a good movie. She said he was bat**** crazy.

Trailer and Ad editing is an industry like any other, you need to apply to the places that do it and hope you get hired. I used to work for a place that did trailers for VOD, Straight to DVD, and TV shows. Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it sucks, really just depends on the client.

I feel like a lot of these people that edit trailers are being forced to make some more insipid than others due to the studio. Like you can tell an immediately difference in a trailer for an animated movie from Pixar or current Disney than another rando studio.

I was rereading Godzilla Unmade, basically Godzilla 1994's Death of Superman Lives in article form, and it made me think of three things: yes G'14 uses ideas from it, and yes it looks like KOTM uses other ideas from it (kinda sorta), but it made me wonder how does TriStar/Sony feel about what they did to ruin G'94 to create G'98 in regards to Legendary's Godzilla series now. I know they don't care anymore, but I often wonder if they feel like idiots for what they did.

So many spoiler tags...

Must...

Keep...

Hand...

Off...

Mouse...

I just got back home from a test screening of the movie.

This scale of monster mayhem has never been seen on screen. Plot is simple and straightforward, the fights are next-level epic. This is a must watch in IMAX. I would give it 6-7/10 for the plot, 15/10 for the fights.

How much of the effects were done?

About half maybe? Long way to go in terms of finalizing the effects. The first half of the movie is almost complete. Almost all of Godzilla's scenes are 100% done, King Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan etc. go in and out of completed effects and line animation.

A username called fake says he's seen a test screening of KOTM? Seems legit. :o

Question for you. Kind of a big spoiler so definitely don't click this if you don't want to know anything about the movie...
Can you describe the other titans that wake up during the film? What they look like?

There are a number of them and not all are done with the effects. I can remember a few

There's one which looks like a wooly mammoth, like Manny from Ice Age
One which looks like a giant Daddy long legs
One which looks like a stegosaurus
One which looks like a cyclops of myth

The designs may change between now and release. A couple of friends of mine saw the movie 4 months ago and the designs were different back then apparently

So the only ones that were completed were the Mammoth and Clover looking Daddy Long Legs?

I read something on TK that just perplexed me. I glanced at it and I quickly scrolled down to avoid the rest of the post. It's about a [BLACKOUT]mcguffin and how it's used to resurrect a certain character[/BLACKOUT].

I mean it's a big spoiler and if it is indeed true then it should have been spoiler tagged but it wasn't so maybe the info wasn't pertaining to KOTM. The [BLACKOUT]mcguffin[/BLACKOUT] was used in the original film and 3 more movies (heisei & millenium) so what I read could very well be about those movies. There's also a chance that I totally misinterpreted the exchange on TK and my thoughts are going in a completely different direction. So I'm just confused AF atm.

Is it true that
Joe Morton plays the older version of Houston Brooks from Kong: Skull Island?
