Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

Godzilla 2014 gets a lot of **** sometimes, and it does have flaws (principally boring human characters and not enough Godzilla), but damn I love this scene (actually most of the actual monster scenes). Even here some people complain it limits the actual view of Godzilla, but I actually love the way it gives almost this docudrama view of Godzilla from the perspectives of the people underfoot, to me it makes it feel more "real". And Gareth Edwards does such a good job blending the two together. As a childhood Godzilla fan, scenes like this are just what I wanted from a faithful big-budget Godzilla movie. I hope King of the Monsters doesn't completely abandon this approach in favor of bigger spectacle and heavier monster action.

And they had just finished rebuilding it after what Magneto did. Shame.

Has trailer 3 been released? I've seen tv spots pop up on youtube

I like the concept of Godzilla's design but yeah, slim him up a bit and make the head larger and he's perfect imo

Agreed. I think he was damn near perfect in the 2014 film. This new version doesnt look nearly as good.

Tack on the feet and spines of 2019 with slighly broader shoulders to 2014 and it's perfection.

He is the Moto Moto of kaiju.

Over/Under 80% that we see Kong in a post credits scene?
I actually think we'll get more of a Kong tease during the actual movie and the post credits scene will tease the new big bad in Godzilla vs. Kong.

Hot Take:

Im glad they're redoing the roars to match the Toho...the new roar....its just not Skreeoonky enough for me
Where'd you hear this? I actually love the G14 roar.

Its in the EW article. Doughtery said he took all four of the classic monsters roars and and updated them but they still would be familiar.

Yeah, but we've already seen Kong and we know that they'll be fighting. Why not tease the other monster?

We, in the nerdosphere know it. The general audience, not so much.

Plus... You use the tease to build anticipation. The hype for a mystery monster the audience has no reference to is always gonna be dwarfed by the hype for something like Kong.
