Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

For the opening weekend? How is it gonna outgross Godzilla 14's 200 million?

Watching Michael Dougherty's panel from Monsterpalooza and hearing him reply with a ''strong maybe'' when asked about Mothra fairies made me grin like a madman. :D:

Playing the footage as a lead in to Game of Thrones is a really good move on W s part, particularly with Tywin Lannister himself making an appearance.

Personally I will be skipping this clip .in general I don't eat h filn clips and avoid trailers when I can.

Just over 1 more month now!

Damn I got straight chills from that clip. Now, that was awesome and honestly it didn't feel like it spoiled nearly as much as I thought it would. I love how majestic the score sounds and KG is just a glorious sight to behold. It's going to be something seeing these epic monsters on the bigscreen.

This is going to be glorious to experience in theatres!

Had a big grin on my face just watching that footage!!!! That pilot ejecting into Rodan's mouth, and Godzilla vs KG!!!

So the GoT exclusive footage was indeed the 5 min IMAX sequence from Wondercon, huh. I also hear that the shorter tv spot was on the bigger platform while the IMAX scene was uploaded on the smaller platform (app).

That's messed up. WB marketing team done f**ked up here.

At-least a new trailer has been rated so it'll hafta drop online in a few days. Hopefully just in time for Avengers: Endgame.

Most people stream that app onto TVs anyways, either through the TV itself or through bluray players and game consoles.

Their TV channel has a schedule to keep, the app doesn't.

Jeez, those "funny moments" are cringy as ****. Also the story basis... dunno. Kinda unimaginative.
Also, why did the 2014 film look like I was watching a real thing and this is looking like a video game?
Why are they overusing the breath that much? Godzi just comes out of the water -> atomic breath.....

Also, I just woke up from a nap in an overheated room so I may be a little grumpy and nitpicky. :funny:

Even after that final trailer Im still getting vibes of not much of a story besides monsters fighting which Im cool with but I just hope theres a-little something more going on there not showing

Agreed, I can't shake off the feeling that all of the characters (perhaps minus Vera Farmiga & Milly Bobby Brown) are just going to be set-ups for one-liners and exposition, nothing more. The trailers have been awesome, but a bad feeling inside of me says this is going to be a Transformers-style monsters movie that over-exposes Godzilla and the rest of the titans. I'll be glad to be proven wrong.

Fingers crossed. I think they will nail the monster action but it means nothing unless there's a solid story that we, the audience, can work off of.

I don't think it will be as egregious as transformers but I've been bracing for meh characters for a while now.

I actually enjoyed Godzilla 2014 a lot and it surely wasn't because of the human characters.
This Godzilla: KOTM seems to be a much more grand monster movie and i'm all on board for that. I just wanna have fun with this and enjoy those beasts battling each other for supremacy looking cool while doing it.

The only human character that was worth anything in Godzilla 2014 was Bryan Cranston's. Whereas Aaron's Johnson's & Elizabeth Olsen's characters were completely forgettable and devoid of any dramatic weight.

But what made Godzilla a good movie was the build-up and anticipation of the title character itself - the different angles, perspectives, etc. And at least they attempted to put some focus on the human characters.

I don't get the sense they are doing any of this via trailers. But of course, have to see the movie first before any further judgement is passed.

This is the one film series where I truly don't give a flying **** about the human characters. They need to be functional, and then they need to get the hell out of the way.

Every single trailer for this movie has been better than the last one. It's like someone extracted the Godzilla movie I saw in my head when I was 7.
