Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

Anybody else thinking that Mothra and Rodan may do the heavy lifting in terms of grounding Ghidorah for the Big G to take him on at land and sea?

Like, by the time we get to the final fight, Mothra or Rodan is dead and the other is wounded, but Ghidorah can’t get away or use his aerial superiority against Big G.

That’s not to say that Ghidorah isn’t still a massive threat on the ground, but that could be the actual tactics the movie uses.

The real King Of The Monsters?

Friendship.

It's officially being called Godzilla II down here.

It was also titled that in the UK after the first trailer and early posters etc. but now they've dropped the ''II'' and it's Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

For some reason I can't take the moth seriously lol I know he's a beast its just probably because I have never seen any other Godzilla films other than the 1998 version and the last one.

Bryan Cranston didn't give his life to be slandered like this! :argh:
Movie sold me wolf tickets that I was getting Heisenberg vs. Godzilla lol

Yep. Instead we got two hours of ATJ calling his wife and giving her stupid advice ("No, don't leave the city that the giant monsters are heading towards! Stay there and wait for me!"), David Strathairn as the most boring, generic military commander ever and Ken Watanabe looking scared. I know the human cast in a big disaster movie typically isn't the draw, but it's like they didn't even try to make them interesting. Though it has a ton of flaws, there's a reason why Independence Day is still remembered fondly; it may be silly and goofy but you genuinely root for the humans in that film (though not in any other Roland Emmerich movie, lol).

Yeah I usually like ATJ but he felt under utilized here. The scene especially where he points his gun at the Muto I was like "Really?" For all the criticism the movie gets at least Matthew Broderick's human character was somewhat useful in his movie lol.

It also has one of the greatest movie speeches of all time! "WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY IN TO THE NIGHT!":funny:

Mothra has been a Queen since 1961. Better recognize! XD

Watch ANY of the mothra movies, you'll see she's more than just a giant month

As a huge Godzilla fan since childhood I can't wait for this film. I love how this is going to be more action packed than the last one but only because it's nice not to get the same film twice. I actually love the first one and consider it a love letter to the franchise. Say what you want about Cranston's character dying and ATJ being a bit wooden but that movie had some great moments and imagery.

Gareth Edwards has a great eye for visuals, and is very good at the verisimilitude of blending live action and CGI.
