Godzilla vs Kong (2021)

I wanted to like Uprising so badly, I thought that having a charismatic lead in John Boyega was the missing ingredient that franchise needed but it just ended up being a complete utter mess.

could they do somehing maddie know something not right and she team with Dr. Ilene Chen becuase she would also know why godzilla attacking

It does sound like they cut out a big chunk of Monarch's role in the story. Which makes it a good decision. Keep the story split mainly among the two groups of human, team Godzilla and team Kong. A good balance, imo.

Did this movie need two groups though ? Exploring Hollow Earth & traveling between the different parts of the Earth is a movie on its own

I get the logic behind that decision. You need one group Team Kong and another Team Godzilla. But I am glad they kept it short

Just got out of the cinema. This was absolutely worth seeing in IMAX and hopefully folks can see it on the biggest screen possible. I'm glad Kong himself got so much focus and screen time, given that Godzilla already had two films. But the brawls? Fantastic.

Also, Junkie XL's score just slaps!

When Team Godzilla was the more annoying part of the movie that didnt help Godzilla

That would be an issue of execution, but the logic behind is still sound

Nah just have Kong & Big G overpower Robo G. It felt like they only wanted Team G because that one girl is filming a new season of Stranger Things

Right okay :funny: Noticed you’re also a member since yesterday, no coincidence I am sure

This movie was really middle of the road for me. The human parts were trash. Hated the Millie Bobbie Brown storyline. The human side of the Kong storyline was a bit better. Of course the best parts were the fight scenes. Glad I didn’t have to spend any extra money to watch this though. So far I haven’t found any of WB movies this year worthy of seeing in the theaters.

The only thing I enjoyed about this was the fights as expected. It was well coordinated and appreciated they didn’t have it in the rain and dark. Wished we saw some more team moves from them battling Mechagodzilla, but I get it wasn’t a wrestling match.

Everything else was just bad. It’s been 10 years since the first Godzilla attack. Why are people still building tall skyscrapers and living in major cities? How is Godzilla able to breathe atomic fire straight to the center of Earth in minutes, and Kong and team able to escape from the CENTER OF THE EARTH in less than 5 minutes? I’m willing to check my brain at the door for a movie with two fighting monsters but the plot was ridiculously dumb. The B plot with Tyree (how do you waste his talents?) and the kids was completely unnecessary.

This should be the last movie in this universe. There is no where else to go since they don’t know how to make the humans interesting.

They really wasted Kyle Chandler in this. So disappointed how they treated really good actors (including Lance Reddick). Also hate how these movies portray teenagers as smarter than adults.

He probably filmed his scenes in a day. It’s a shame more forethought wasn’t put into this universe and we could have had Brian Cranston or Ken Watanabe been in all three Godzilla movies. I would rather have seen their reactions to Kong and Godzilla fighting.

I don’t know how this movie is certified fresh. While the action and visuals were great, the story didn’t make much sense. Should have brought the score down IMO.

I am surprised critics havent been more...critical of the film's script but it really is nonsensical. I was so lost for the first half of the movie ...in fact I still dont think I understand the whole "Bring Kong to middle earth" section of the movie. I still have so many questions. :funny:

It's pretty simple to me. Kong
comes from Hollow Earth and titans can be drawn back to their place of origin. They need to follow him so he can lead them to find the power source in order to help Apex combat Godzilla. But Apex's secret is they're building Mecha Godzilla.
It's ridiculous but the bonkers aspect is what makes it so fun.

It's a pretty straightforward and simple plot to hang the film's action on and a means for the two to fight. Your mileage may vary on the ideas, but the execution of it is functional.

If other movies like Star Wars got picked apart this one should have been too. Yeah the pro-wrestling we were here for with Godzilla and Kong delivered but everything else was varying levels of bad. This had probably the worst script out of the four new Monsterverse movies even if I found it more entertaining than 2014's. You can tell a lot was on the cutting room floor but I don't think it would have helped when the writing is on the level of what remained in the movie.

Btw guys, did my eyes deceive me or was Lance Reddick in this movie for literally a blink and you miss it 3 seconds?? Did his role get completely cut?
He was in it for about 3 seconds, yes. I remember seeing his name in the beginning of the movie as well. I would guess his role got cut since a good portion of the human character stuff got cut.

I dont know if Im misremembering but was this trailer shot of Godzilla roaring in HK actually in the movie?

Much appreciated on the explanation but i gotta admit even your explanation sounds so out there.

Also guys, didnt this movie feel like it threw you right into the middle of its act II from the very beginning? Right in the first 5 minutes we have characters spouting exposition saying “Kong cant leave or Godzilla will get him,” and i had to do a spit take like “wait what, since when did we establish all this??” :funny:

I'm pretty sure King of the Monsters established Godzilla can sense Alpha Titans or whatever to help justify how Godzilla could keep finding Ghidorah across the world.

I thought it was dumb and was kinda lazy in that one, but in this one it doesn't even make sense because Kong has just been chilling on his own for years and Godzilla hasn't really given a damn :funny:
