Heisei era Godzilla is my favorite look for him to date. I love the menacing look.

I definitely see where you’re coming from. Nearly all Godzilla incarnations have had some kind of mammalian traits (G54 ears, Showa “muzzle”, Heisei “cat face”, Legendary having some bear traits).

I think the lizard-like 1962 and the crocodile-faced 1999/2000 versions are easily the least mammalian/most reptilian incarnations.

Rewatched Kong: Skull Island and I’ll say it easily has the most impressive VFX of the Monsterverse.

Plus, I really appreciate the decision to make Monsterverse Kong some sort of gorilla-bigfoot “missing link” like the 1933 version rather than a simply oversized silverback like in 2005 (but of course, that version was also cool in itself).

I’m excited for this. I believe the spoilers I read were real now, but I’m okay with it. At least they don’t disrespect the Kong character. But again I can’t help but think this movie is getting made just to settle a score from the original, which I felt ended the right way. I mean again Kong is the grand daddy of all monsters. He gave inspiration to the original Godzilla ( yes I know about the original Godzilla metaphor) . But again there has been no secret that the original Godzilla creators were inspired by Kong. Godzilla literally is gorilla and whale put together.

But unlike what the Russo Brothers did with the Hulk ( ugh) at least Winegard gives Kong a good showing . I was originally not going to go near this film, but having watched the trailers and seeing that at least Kong will have a good showing before the inevitable gives me hope. I still think Skull island is probably in the running for top 3 Kong films of all time ( 33,05, SI) and am thankful to the monster verse for giving Kong fans that gem.

This film is a great conclusion to the monster verse and honestly I think the reason it ( the monster verse) was created in the first place. I’m excited for it and think that at least we got a great Kong film in SI out of the deal. I imagine some Superman fans will remake a Superman vs Batman movie in order to get the ending they want one day as well.

I actually like Kong and Godzilla in the 80s. King Kong lives excited me because Kong didn’t die after falling from the World Trade Center. I cried when Godzilla let out that screech after falling in at the end of 85.

1976 Kong finally getting a blu release from Shout Factory. Also includes the extended tv version. @Galactus123 @Spider-Fan

I imported the copy from Brazil and wow I was impressed. I will get this version as well. I love Kong 76. That was the version that introduced me to Kong! It was years later that I went back and saw 33 in all his glory!

Re-watched K:SI tonight myself and on top of awesome CGI, it has some amazing visuals, would love it if we got a direct sequel. Really hope Vogt-Roberts can nail the Metal Gear movie also.

Monster-verse has some very solid movies, though I understand some of the complaints people have with them, they have delivered so far, Godzilla, Kong The Skull Island, Godzilla The King of Monsters and (hopefully) Godzilla Vs Kong.
