Goosebumps

So good seeing that 90's reboots like Goosebumps and Jurassic World are getting a lot of love and are done well.:up:

I wonder if this would spur Scholastic into getting Animorphs green lit? I mean when it was rumoured before being debunked, it got a lot of positive reactions.

I wish they got the voice actor from the original Goosebumps to do Slappy, those episodes really irked me when I was younger.

Hoping they adapt both the Horror Land stuff and maybe the Haunted Mask.

I still have yet to see this, but I might actually check it out.

Negative.

abominable snow man, the giant mantis from 'Shocker on Shock St.', the Blob from 'The Blob that ate everything' the werewolf from the um, werewolf book and of course Slappy from 'Night of the Living Dummy'
They are pretty much the only ones that get most of the screentime. Every other monster pretty much has a 'blink and you'll miss it' cameo as they are very much just in the background.

That's aggravating. That hamster was my favorite Goosebump monster when I was a young'in.

I'm guessing no love for The Phantom of the Auditorium? :o

Both the invisible kid and Slappy were voiced by Black, but in the context of the movie it makes sense and is kind of a genius concept.

Like when Nuclear Man shared the same voice as Luthor in Superman IV? :hmm

It's more of a meta thing i guess. Stine created those two, who are his most human villains, and they're extensions of him.

So this is actually good? I remember people were saying this looks like Night at the Museum but it's actually better reviewed than Night at the Museum. I mean **** who could see that coming.

I liked it. It's not amazing or anything but it's certainly not bad by any means...I just wished they did a little bit more given the rich source material.

I'd give it a 7.5/10.

I'm just glad it's apparently good.

This movie definitely had an Joe Dante's Gremlins vibe to it.

Didn't see a sequel thread, so...

Sony Gives New Title To ‘Goosebumps 2’- CinemaCon
The release date is still Oct. 12, 2018, but Sony’s sequel Goosebumps 2 will now be released as Goosebumps: Happy Halloween.

Last month, R.L. Stine had leaked out that the new title was Goosebumps: Slappy Halloween. That’s not the case.

Part 2 stars Chris Parnell, Ken Jeong, and Wendi McLendon-Covey. Ari Sandel directs. And Jack Black is back, but as the voice of the puppet dummy.

The first Goosebumps grossed $80M at the domestic box office, $150.1M worldwide.

So this movie was just great. Just a goddamn delight. This is the type of film teachers will put on for kids around Halloween time to watch during class for fun. Looking forward to the second one!

Still haven't got around to checking out the first one - remember it seeming surprisingly decent from the trailers/commercials though. Plus Black's just perfect for this.

This should be fun. Sounds like a great movie to watch at a sleepover. Scary but not too scary

First movie was great, reminded me of something I’d have watched as a youngster. I like what I’m hearing so far regarding the sequel.

Same. I read a bunch of those books when I was a kid, I have no idea why I've been putting it off for so long.

Yeah it’s a laugh. I hope we see the blob that ate everything. Also the hammerhead shark from deep trouble because I was obsessed with that cover as a lad

R.L Stine has confirmed on twitter they have finished filming the second goosebumps movie

So no Stine this time? And is that the kid from It?

I'm out. I thought they were going to Horrorland this time. This looks like an excuse to do the whole "Book opens and monsters attack a town" plot. Yawn....Comes off like Fox's idea for Chronicle 2 where they get a new cast of characters and recycle the same plot around said characters.

Looks better than the first which lacked atmosphere. That said, the family horror picture that is actually worth seeing this Fall seems to be the one Jack Black picked over this; House with a Clock In Its Walls.
