This was a pretty good episode. But who was that guy at the end?

Episode 14 "The Fearsome Dr. Crane" I liked the intro. Nice to see Maria Thayer show up. Nod to Professor Pyg. Morena Baccarin needs more screen time. I found the Fish Mooney, Riddler and Penguin story lines uninteresting. Although the ending has me curious.

Aside from that weird ending with Fish and Random Dude, I really liked this episode. Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin really have great chemistry, imo. I feel like canon dictates this relationship is doomed, and that makes me sad.

The fact that Bruce confides in her his secret probably is part of it.

Goddamnit gotham...
that's the second time you've tricked me with a pig mask.:csad:

I WANT PYG

Aside from that weird ending with Fish and Random Dude, I really liked this episode. Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin really have great chemistry, imo. I feel like canon dictates this relationship is doomed, and that makes me sad.

The new relationship is waaaaay better than Bordon. Barbara was uninteresting and served literally no purpose. Her existence in the show was to look pretty and to try and garner sympathy because her boyfriend has a tough job. When she does come back I hope they give her something to do that supports at least one of the fifty storylines.

I also really like Bullock now. He can seem like a forced humor machine and a jerk but recently he has come into his own. I buy his slow transition to Gordon's side and like the friendship.

I just think they need to focus. Too many threads going on at once and none of them get the attention they deserve. The show has moments of potential but squanders it by throwing too many easter eggs and unnecessary nods to fans (Selina and Bruce had no reason to be in this episode... or most of them for that matter).

Anyway, here are my full thoughts on the episode:

It was a decent episode. Look like next week could be epic.

I think Fish and randomdude are related

Falcone raised her which means she was away from her family

Maybe that wasnt a fight , more like a reunion ritual lol

I wasn't really feeling how they handled Crane at first, but the next episode actually looks pretty interesting.
Kinda reminds me of frailty

What an intriguing episode. And next week it looks like a lot's gonna happen...

Bruce falls into what looks like a cave full of bats, Penguin meets Ed Nygma - and Fish comes back... I think... so much is gonna happen and I forgot most of it... LOLs

1 step forward, 2 steps back can sum up this show perfectly.

Crane thing is stupid (how man villains will be daddy proteges?), Fish needs to die (so pointless), Penguin stuff is boring, Maroni is a chump, Cat is meh, and the music is too on the nose...

While Leslie is amazing, Gordon/Bullock relationship is better and better, Bruce is alright (underplayed and skimped on sadly), and the atmosphere/city is beautifully 'Gotham'.

Loved seeing Maria Thayer, can't believe she is almost 40. She seemed so young a mere 10 years ago in Accepted. Hope she is on the show more, she's a great foil/love interest for Bullock.

Barbara is so terrible, Gordon better not be dumb and not that idiotic broad up... keep going with Leslie, she's awesome.

It looked like Nigma had green question Marks on his tie in the last scene, but it was hard to tell with the quality I was watching.

The episode endings of this show are starting to piss me off. If they're going for juicy cliffhangers that grab us by the balls and force us to watch next week, they need to up their game by a lot. This was the first part of a two parter, why would you end with Fish facing off against some random ass merc/pirate instead of something Crane-based? Like, come on... :o

Otherwise, good ep. Nygma getting in trouble for doing creepy s*** and then doing even creepier s*** to save face.

Some episodes have ended on like weird shots of the characters being overwhelmed or what-have-you this season... it's like they just say '**** it, cut!'

Overall I enjoyed the episode but they really need to focus more on the characters we already have as opposed to just introducing us to a new Batman related character every week. I understand these are all set ups for later seasons but it feels like too many at this point. I really like the Penguin stuff and the sooner Fish is off the show the better. Bullock was top notch as always. And Zayas always shines IMO

It's not often where a man can say that he portrayed the father of both Superman and Scarecrow on live action television....

Love of how Ed is progressively getting creepier, he seemed quite cartoonish at the start of the season, now getting hints of the super villain he'll become.

Also great to see Bruce's dark cynicism starting to show, getting shat on by Selina must have really knocked him around. Looks like he really begins his journey next episode too.

I suppose I liked this one more than I disliked it. (Barbara is still gone & Fish getting little more than a cameo, helped)

I guess the bottom line is the show has to be graded on the curve. At this point I'm beginning to feel it's never gonna earn a strong 9 from me,much less a 10. But this one was a decent 8.5

Scarecrow Dad was actually pretty interesting. I'd probably forgive them making him a "legacy" villain, but getting Junior involved is whats leaving it TBD.

I had to :lmao: at the guy terrified by Crane walking toward him with a baby pig. Now there's the Gotham I appreciate, that takes chances on ticking off the fanboys by involving a healthy slice of cheese.:applaud

I got flashes of Batman Forever in the opening when Crane hangs the guy. For some reason it reminded me of Carrey killing his boss. I also thought of Carrey's "You were supposed to understand." with Nygma's "But,I found something." They are really nailing Nygma here. He's been the best part of the show since the mid season break.

I also liked the gal Bullock took interest in. I was worried she'd be killed, but hopefully there is some kinda future for them.

I'm gonna put the Leslie relationship in the plus column, but I still caution them against moving too fast.

Then,there was the rest...
Bruce "releasing" Gordon and announcing his intentions was just wrong. It's already straining credulity that these two are so close and yet supposedly (if cannon is king) Jim won't learn he's Batman in the years to come.

Penguin getting humiliated,beaten & nearly killed- AGAIN.:woo:
If it wasn't for RTL being so good in the role,I'd just write Oswald off. His story doesn't interest me anymore. (Nygma,on the other hand,is beginning to) I liked his cabin scenes with Maroni, but It's like they are determined to give him a case of "arrested development" to keep him from becoming a big shot too soon. Unfortunately, there's only so many times he can scheme his was out of certain death, before it becomes groan worthy.(and for me,it's past time.) He should be at least a "wise guy" by now. But,you give him too much status, and what will you do with him in the next 10 years waiting for Batman?

The "Cat" stuff with Jim really made no impact one way or the other.

Fish getting kidnapped by pirates. The only thing that would make me interested in that storyline is if the pirates are led by Barbara.Maybe that's what she's been up to. :hehe:

Looks like Oswald meets Ed next episode.Should be interesting.

I loved this episode, apart from the ending of course. :funny:

The interactions between Maroni and Penguin were excellent and the highlight of the episode for me. Nigma was again a joy to watch, and so was young Bruce.

Gordon and Leslie have great chemistry too. Helps that Morena Baccarin is easy on the eyes. Looking forward to next week.

Why do I suspect that the merc/pirate/whatever who showed up at the very end is a friend of Fish's, not an enemy? I guess I'll see next week.

For the first time in about ever I actually like the the Bruce and Kittygirl sequences, if only because they both seem to indicate that the writers are looking to put the whole Wayne murders maguffin on a shelf and let these characters either stay offscreen or develop on their own away from the main stage (I suspect the latter).

I really liked this episode. The scenes in the cabin between Maroni and Penguin were the highlight, but I thought Crane was one of the more interesting villains of the week they've had and most of the supporting cast got some good work to do this episode from Nygma to Bullock.
