Goyer says All DC films at Warner Bros. are on Hold

I think hes psychotic a well, but many here may disagree, and Im not here to argue nonsense.

okay, yes I am, but not that particular nonsense.

Regarding WB needing another tentpole...

MAN I want a yearly Sandman franchise!!!

I think Warner should end Nolan's trilogy, and then, make a Justice League movie, with Christian Bale as a more comic-accurate Batman. As long as the movie is good, the General Audience won't mind Batman not being hyper-realistic anymore. The only one who will complaint will be fanboys. And maybe some critics. But the movie would be a hit.

How can Bale possible play Batman any more 'comic-accurate' than he already has?

I think a Justice League movie Batman should be like JLU's Batman. A dark superhero.

Shouldnt the title be changed to like, "Goyer says many DC films at Warner Bros. are on hold"? 'Cuz Batman 3 is 'gonna happen soon, same with Jonah Hex and Green Lantern...

Come on, i'm not bashing Bale. I'm just saying Nolan's Batman is more of a vigilante, not a superhero.

he's both. what he does is also suuuppper.

and what's wrong with batman being a superhero. it's a damn honor i would think.

I'm saying Nolan's Batman is vigilante, and JL's Batman should be a superhero, like he is in JLU.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you've got a weird way at looking at things.

Super-heroes are vigilantes.

jmc:

Protocida may want Batman to be closer to his Batgod persona. He was certainly like that in JLU.

Looks like everyone who thought Goyer's comments about DC movies excluded GL were right. The writer of GL Marc Guggenheim states he feels Goyer was refering to his Flash and GA movies, as he has heard nothing about stopping GL. Check out newsarama.com front page.

^Thanks for the heads up darthhalen. Here's what the article says:

Fans of Guggenheim haven't heard a lot of good news about his Hollywood projects lately. Not only did ABC announce in November that the network would not order new episodes of the legal drama Eli Stone, which Guggenheim co-created with Greg Berlanti, but a recent statement from David Goyer also indicated the Green Lantern movie Guggenheim co-wrote was put on hold along with other DC movies.

But Guggenheim said he’s not only holding onto hope that Eli Stone could be renewed for a third season, but he doesn't think Goyer meant to include Green Lantern in his statement. (In fact, although Goyer didn’t name what movies in particular were put "on hold," his comment was in response to a question relating to his Flash and Green Arrow projects.)

"I don't think David was referring to Green Lantern. I think David was referring to other properties. That doesn't jibe with the information that I've been getting," Guggenheim said.

That assessment would agree with what Guggenheim told Newsarama in October, when the writer said the Hal Jordan-centered film, which he co-wrote with Berlanti and Superman/Batman scribe Michael Green, was moving along in pre-production, unaffected by any of the rumored reworking that other DC projects were experiencing at Warner Bros. "It hasn't really affected this project in the least," he said at the time.

i dont think WB will want to wait that long before they make their next move. they'll wait a year at most (hence the DC projects being "on pause") but they need those tentpole movies chugging along. so far they have HP and The Hobbit booked until 2012, but they usually need one more tentpole to tidy up each year. that should be where the superhero movies would fit in.

Well let's be honest... WB is set for 2011 with HP8... not to mention TWO LOTR films... if Nolan wants to take a break they'll let him take a break. We may not see BB3 till 2012 or even 2013. Besides there are many other things that can fulfill a tentpole slot besides SH movies... WB just needs to think of something outside the box... there is no guarantee the Supes reboot will even happen in the next 4-5 years... nor is there guarantee we'll even see a different JL character in a live-action summer blockbuster anytime within the next few years. It could be quite a wait.

That's exactly right, as much as DC fans ***** and moan, WB don't really have to pump out superhero flicks every year, they've got a bunch of other franchises up their sleeve in the coming years.

That bit of news sort of clears things up. Most likely Goyer was referring to projects he's been involved with. If it were true anyway, he wouldn't be in talks with Nolan about their third Batman film.
Guggenheim is really in the same position as Goyer. Both of them write comics and work on superhero flicks. Goyer did a lot to come up with the ideas for BB and TDK, which Guggenheim seems to have done for GL.

great find! wish they would say something official already.

true, but franchises from popular books/ comics/ tv/ games are what the studios are after for a surefire hit (at least they're hoping it would be. after the success of TDK and IM the studios are now (predictably) looking at comic book franchises as the next cash cow that will carry them through the end of this decade and into the next.

Right now, Green Lantern, Jonah Hex and Batman 3 are everything we'll see.

Wasn't Grant Morrison involved with The Flash movie? It was an article that was yanked off MTV blogs.com

If GL happens in 2010 then there is no reason to worry, because then we will definitely see a Superman film in 2012 IMO. Maybe a sandwich film in 2013... and possibly JLA/WF in 2014. There is still a window there to get this done.

GL happening in 2010 is a pretty longshot and it won't happen.

It's already 2009 and there's very little movement on that project.

Nah, theyre just holding most of their info. Theres going to be an announcement very soon.
