I've always wanted to do this poll. Vote, discuss, decide. What are your favorite Avengers arcs?

Until I can figure that out, I guess just list your favs and discuss them.

Do alternate universe story arcs count? I allways like The Ultimates 1 and 2

1) the Kree- Skrull War: that &^%$ was epic and seem to last forever and involve just about everybody! it was awesome!

2) the Michael Korvacs saga :1st you know you are a really, truly bad guy if your name is just " Michael" !Dude killed the Avengers! He whacked their asses like nothing when they brought the whole team and reserves to stop him. He killed em all and at the last moment before he died brought them back to life. that was bad ass!!

Molecule Man.

He destroyed Thor's hammer, Cap's shield, Iron Man's armor, and the Surfer's board with a wave of his hand. Then he made Tigra his pet.

Loved that arc.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

I agree wholeheartedly with both stories... especially the Korvac story... mind blowing stuff that stands the test of time...

:yay:

I'm a very big fan of Kurt Busiek's run with George Perez.

Kree-Skrull War, then the battle vs Count Nefaria when he was in Superman mode where Vision dive bombed him at the end. And the Masters of Evil battle where the only picture Cap had of his mother was destroyed and he kicked Hyde's ass.

I loved the Avengers / Defenders War from back in the day. Crossovers were a lot rarer back then and this was big.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

Its the Kree / Skrull war... next IMO was Busiek's Ultron and Kang arcs

For me it's all about Avengers Forever. That's the story that not only got me into the Avengers, but single handedly jumpstarted my obsession with Kang the Conqueror.

The Kang Dynasty, Ultron Unlimited, The Celestial Madonna Saga, Kree/ Skrull War, and The Korvac saga are all worth mentioning.

No. Avengers. Not Ultimates.

"Kree/Skrull War", "Ultron Unlimited", "Avengers/Defenders War", Avengers Forever, "Under Siege," the Master Pandemonium/Wanda and the Vision's kids stuff in Avengers West Coast, the Prodigy saga, and "Red Zone" are some of my favorites. "Standoff" might count too, although it was more of a Thor-centric arc featuring Cap and Iron Man.

Heck I don't even really mind Operation: Galactic Storm...Cap was portrayed bad and a ninnie, but it was pretty good.

I only read bits and pieces of it but I know about the big conflict that split the Avengers toward the end. It seemed reasonable for Cap's characterization at the time. He'd largely left his soldiery ways behind and fully embraced the idea that killing in the superhero game was a big no-no.

It was an interesting development that sprang directly from the FF issue where they all faced Galactus and Iron Man wanted to kill him and Cap and Reed were going to save him. Reed faced the Shiar courts and Cap and Iron Man got into it again in Galactic Storm.

I love that organic ****.

Iron Man's wanted to kill a lot of dudes over the years, it seems. No wonder he was such an amoral dick when he was leading SHIELD.

Man! i So loved how a freaking suburban yuppie in tennis izod attaire wrecked shop an all the Avengers!See those yuppies are EVILLL!!

Well supreme intelligence was going to destroy Earth, so the cap I know would think maybe he had to die and not be a wimp.

I think this story was still in a lapse period where the true ramifications of what cap must have gone through in WWII and what his mind should be prepared for was not really understood by the writers yet.

There's nothing wimpy about wanting to preserve life rather than take it. There's also nothing inherently unrealistic about a guy who's experienced a lot of death wanting to avoid killing as much as possible, especially when he has abilities that make it feasible--hell, almost easy, even--to do what he needs to do without killing.

Somebody actually voted for it! Ok....who needs a smack?!?!?:argh:
