Yep. He's pretty average as a drummer. There's also a lot of controversy over whether Starr even actually laid down the studio tracks for some of the Beatles material. The mysterious "ghost drummers", one of which a guy by the name of Purdue claims to be.

jag

Plus, when asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world, John even said himself "He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles."

I decided to vote for Bonham, only because of Zeppelin's my favorite band. But really, it's a tie between him and Moon. They pretty destroy every other drummer in history.

As for Ringo, he was perfect for whatever the songs called. A fantastic drummer overall? No. But for what The Beatles' music needed, he was on target 100 %. Plus, his solo on "The End" does kick an insane amount of ass.

Someone said Ringo was the human equivalent to a drum machine. It made me laugh. He isn't THAT bad. The bands out there today are far worse at palying instruments than Richard Starkey.

John Densmore of the Doors is quite talented, but also a major ******* so he wont' get my vote

Didn't he refuse to rejoin the surving members of the group when they joined with Ian Astbury to form The Doors Of The 21st Century.

It's Astbury, and yes he did, then sued them so they had to rename themselves Riders on the Storm

I'm voting for Bonham, but the fact that Peart isn't on the poll is astounding.

Honorable mentions go to Nicko McBrain, and Ginger Baker.

Jon Wurster from Superchunk. Hands down the greatest drummer I've ever seen. He's also the funniest guy in rock music. Check out his comedy work with his partner, Tom Scharpling. Good stuff!

John Deacon did something similar to that when Queen reformed with Paul Rogers. He didn't sue or anything but he refused to join them on tour.

Two things are for certain:

There is no Doors without Morrison and no Queen without Mercury.

Still, Densmore does sound like a bit of an *******.

The drummer from Q and Not U is freaking amazing, as well.

Neil Peart!
Thats right. :)

Its Neil Peart folks. He doesn't even seem human sometimes. Check out this DVD and you'll see. :o

You know, I agree, but aside from that, this is the most accurate of the music related polls we've had in the last few weeks (Lead Singer and Lead Guitarist). Peart and Rick Allen are the only major omissions I can think of.

We could've dropped Grohl (I love Nirvana, but come on, they were pretty bad musicians) and Fontana (never really had the impact of the other people on the poll. Maybe even ditch the "others" option since there aren't many others missing.

See I disagree with that, The Doors did continue on without Jim from 71-73, putting out two albums, the first of which is quite good. Ian does a helluva job filling in very difficult shoes, and hopefully they'll complete their album when the lawsuit is all said and done with.

They have an album in the works?

****ing sweet!

Do they do Cult songs as well as Doors songs when they play?
'Cause reformed demi-Queen plays Paul Rogers songs.
That's be weird to hear Fire Woman or Love Removal Machay-Hane with cheesy organ.

She sells Sanctuary from the Love Removal Machine my lil' Wildflower! :)

my fave Ian Astbury lyrics:

"Shake shake shake shake shake. Shake shake shake shake SHAKE."

Yeah. They're actually quite good. No one beats Freddie, though. Vocally, he's the best lead singer ever.

Close thread. This one is not even up for debate. Cosmic Truth here.
Don't say Neil Peart. Don't say Keith Moon. Don't say Meg White (lol).
Say "John Bonham...John Henry BONHAM!"

TRUTH!

In fact, the answer to Greatest Band? Led Zeppelin! The answer to the best front man (vocalist)? Robert Plant! The answer to best guitarist? Jimmy Page!

These polls are moot. There is Zeppelin and then there is everyone else.

Yes for like the last 3 years lol, I've heard four songs off of it. Eagle in the Whirlpool rocks!

For the record, Neil Peart has no heart. The man is a robot.

No they dont, but The Doors of the 21st Century are on hiatus right now as Ian tours with The Cult (my second favorite band). Caught them in Buffalo in March, great show

Got a link to any of them?
