Peart plays some pretty fast stuff, but mostly his drumming is just incredibly complex and often he's playing in multiple time signatures at the same time while he's at it. It's pretty amazing.

Yep. I like Rush, but really I prefer quite a bit of other stuff to listen to. For my money, Chris Layton of Double Trouble plays the tastiest stuff going. But, I simply cannot deny the musical prowess that Peart has as a percussionist (hell, that entire band are all top notch).

As proven by everyone else, fast drumming does not equal good drumming. It equals an ear splitting headache.

Also the 1980s' had a lot talent. Certainly more than today.

And every drummer on that poll could beat this Mackintosh guy. Maybe not as fast as him, but in terms of who's the best drummer, he'll lose by a long shot. Even Ringo would leave him in the dust.

Agreed. Drumming isn't about crazy fast parts that no one can really decipher.

Exactly. Fast doesn't equal good. It makes you rushed and sloppy.

I find it ironic that Rush is called Rush and yet their music is anything but rushed.

But here's the thing, he isn't sloppy, and he's not rushed. So....where's your point?
