Green Arrow series in the works at The CW

This isn't aimed at you rockstar but I find it funny how much message board posters have almost become caricatures. They announce a few changes and right away the response is thats dumb, why change things, without watching anything.

I'll tell you why.

I'm not against changes. Nolan's Batman made some great ones from the source material.

I actually dislike the comics, or movies try to follow them exactly (Green Lantern) and end up being fanboy garbage.

My issue is with why these changes are being made (the network) and what they mean as far as the direction of the show.

People were hoping this wouldn't be a soap/drama like the other crap on CW, but so far everything released seems to point in that direction.

I don't think any of the DC superheroes deserve to be Smallville-ized in that way.

Yvonne Strahotski as Dinah.

Shouldn't Dinah be a brunette?

She wears a blonde wig for Black Canary.

I think Oliver's sister will be the show's 'Blonde' though.

I am bummed this is not connected to Smallville. No same actor. >_< oh you CW...me no watch.

Unless if Casper Van Dien or Adrian Paul show up, maybe some General Hospital actors....but outside of that, you can go take a timeout, Mr. Timeout for being a epic failure of a network. Even NBC disses you. That low.

I thought that said Aaron Paul, not Adrian Paul.

I'm upgrading that from a  to a full-on

They probably want there show to be, you know, good.

I would hope they keep the guest appearances from other heroes to a minimum, at least if it makes it past a first season.

TV shows already struggle with costumes as it is, those JSA ones looked horrible and the writing and acting I felt was some of the worst of smallville. It was way to preachy about justice, didn't seem natural.

As for the use of meta humans, it will be interesting what route they take. If they try to keep it very grounded or add in some fantasy elements. Heck, if they're lacking some good villains they could always borrow a few 3rd tier batman ones because thats a sure fire way to get people interested.

I too want ryan as booster if that pilot goes. As for sarah from chuck I like her. But canary could turn into a simular role sarah was. So I could see her wanting to do different things.

As for bc I hope they keep her a meta. They can always play she has powers but doesn't use them. Or they haven't triggered yet.

I love the idea of the entire cast of Chuck getting reassigned to all these DC pilots

She's not Black Canary in this show, does it matter what her hair color is?

Again we have no clue how the character will be, sure at the start/pilot time frame she probably wont be black canery. Doesnt mean she wont become her down the road. We have barely any details on the show, and again things could easily change once they get cast locked in, or they decide to drop characters/change things and if they do reshoots to pilot to change things. All stuff that can happen.

So how does she disguise her identity?

Shes a public figure as Dinah Lance.
Even in the comics they kinda gloss over it these days. Without a mask, a wig, or a hood she still maintains a secret identity somehow. The approach wouldn't work as well on TV.

Well they can do what sv did and have her wear a wig/makeup in one form and not in the other.

I was under the impression her identity hasn't been secret in the comics for years. A lot of her enemies know her real name, and Lady Shiva has been calling her "Ms. Lance" since the first time they met.

Well where does the character stand currently in the new 52/DCnU revamp?

Was it so the writers could explore the possibilities of a superhero with a public ID, or because they just didn't give a crap about her having a secret ID anymore?

I think they just found it unnecessary. All of her loved ones were either dead or other superheroes, so there wasn't anyone to protect. She didn't have her flower shop anymore, so she didn't have anything to protect either. She just became a fulltime superhero.

Starling City...yeah, no comment.

Everything else sounds surprisingly good. Still in a wait and see state of mind.

Well like i said its still very early in process things can change, or another way to look at things maybe there was a few right now deal copyright/legal issues which caused for things to had to change.

Ryan McPartlin would be a terrible Ollie, imo, but a perfect Booster Gold. That would just be inspired casting, even though I don't have much hope for that show (or this one, for that matter).

and why you say that both booster and this show are in early stages. Plus we have no cast locked in, no footage shot, and no full crew on board yet for either show. Like i keep on saying both shows are still very early in production/planning stages. So things can easily change. That is why i am not fretting over things yet. When i know cast/characters could change and plots too.

I make these judgements the same way I decide what movies to look forward to - by the people making them. SyFy and CW do not have good track records with me. The only exception for SyFy is Ron Moore's BSG-verse, and that was, well, Ron Moore, who had already demonstrated his genius at HBO with Carnivale. The guys who gave us Green Lantern and No Ordinary Family don't exactly instill the same kind of confidence. And the CW is particularly suspect since they've tried to do this several times before with comic book characters, and they've all been the same type of cheesy crap (Smallville had its moments, but never became any thing better than "decent," imo).

I like Green Arrow, so I'll be following this project and hoping it'll surprise me, but given the creators' and network's history, I'm not gonna get my expectations up until they give me a reason to.

Were you this positive about Wonder Woman ?
