Green Arrow series in the works at The CW

Not a fan of "Starling City."

Other than that I'm pretty ok with the other stuff.

He's the Green Arrow...calling him The Arrow is just stupid.
Calling Clark the Blur for all those years was too when you had a person get called Superboy and Kara was called Supergirl way before they called him Superman.

Sounds pretty neat. Open to some changes as long as it works. I hope the armor he wears looks cool, and glad to hear they're going to have the hood. :D

I'm glad they're keeping the island origin and not changing that. It says he's going to be around 25? That's what I figured, cool! Anyone got some casting ideas yet?

I don't mind "Starling City" but I bet they'll end up calling it Star City throughout it.

Haha. Nothing about this sounds good. IMO typical CW soap/drama format.

Amusing that they're turning "Tommy" into Lex, son of Merlyn.

MORE Details From The Green Arrow Pilot Character Breakdowns
Craig Byrne January 24, 2012 0

Here are more details that they were able to get:
- Oliver Queen is a “27 year old reformed bad boy.” He spent five years shipwrecked on a tiny, dangerous island. He returns to Starling City “a different man.”
- Dinah “Laurel” Lance is 28, and she’s “a legal aid attorney determined to use her life as a one-woman war against the 1%” following the death of her sister Sara.
- Remember the Sara character we mentioned in the previous post? She’s “Laurel”‘s sister, and she died aboard Oliver’s yacht. Oops. No wonder Dinah/Laurel is mad at him.
- The “Tommy” mentioned before, his last name is Merlyn. Like Green Arrow’s enemy. Described as “28 years old and devil-smooth.” He can’t understand Oliver’s change of lifestyle and direction. He likes parties, liquor, and sex… so “frat boy,” like we mentioned before.
- Moira Queen is very wealthy and “not used to being shaken.” She is in charge of the Queen fortune, and is worried that Robert Queen will return unexpectedly as well.
- John Diggle is a 35 year old African-American military man who served with the Army Rangers in Afghanistan. He’s hired by Moira to be Oliver’s bodyguard. Oliver repeatedly eludes his protection. The casting breakdown (or TVAddict’s piece) also said this: “Diggle’s primary conflict is one of loyalty — he has to show that he’s working for Oliver, not Moira, before Oliver will give him a smidgen of trust.”
- And here’s where the pitchforks came out – The TVAddict has confirmed that Thea is Thea Queen, Oliver’s younger… sister. She was 12 when Oliver and her father disappeared. Now she’s a “celebutante” who acts badly. She loved her big brother with all of her heart, and she’s glad to have him back – but now that she’s older and spreading her wings, she might not be ready for Oliver to be Bad Cop in her family and making sure she behaves. She is the only one who gets away with calling Oliver “Ollie,” and Ollie, in turn, calls her “Speedy.”

some interesting character breakdowns. But we have to remember this is only for the pilot shooting. Which could see things reshot and modifed/dropped. Or changed here or there. So lets see where things go post pilot/into series production.

Sister... Strange, I hope they release the Wonder Woman pilot. I think they should make two or three of these a year. For those who are testing the waters for a movie, or will never get one.

Because it's basically spelling out Canary.

Ooooh. I was thinking what CNRI could possibly mean in the DC Universe. :oldrazz:

Honestly, aside from a few off-putting elements (kid sister), I think this has still got plenty of potential to be a good Green Arrow series. It's not nearly as appalling as Wonder Woman looked and sounded, and it's not even close to being as much of a vomit-inducing idea as The Graysons was. They're putting their own little spin on a few things, and from the sound of it, there are a few things that need tweaking, but nothing of this really screams "awful" to me.

Question is...will Dinah still turn into Black Canary and will she still have her canary cry?

It'd be nice to get a cool version of BC's origin, as opposed to...

Wait, what the hell is her origin? (in 30 words or less?)

Which one? The one where she is from earth 2 but they take her to earth 1 because of her canary cry or something? Or the one where her mother is the former BC of the JSA and Dinah grows up in that lifestyle and eventually takes over her mothers mantle?

One thing I do like is the costume description.

Hooded with the lower part of his face masked (like Bane), black armor. In theory, it sounds quite badass and practical.

It also allows for Oliver to sport the facial hair.

Me to I don't have much issues here. Also like I said whoes to say all these characters will be in the series, or bbe like there breakdown. They could drop characters if casting doesn't work. Or modified characters/plot if it makes series order. More so if by chance the producers for pilot don't stay on as showrunners.

Berlanti is better off sticking with family dramas like Everwood. I miss that show. :csad:

I'm excited for a new superhero show. This and Alphas, should be nice.

As a Green Arrow fan, this pilot isn't sounding too bad so far.

As a Black Canary fan, I'm a little pissed off.

Changes were going to be made so its not a surprise. I actually like a few of them, giving him a sister and having his mother alive changes him from being a loner like batman.

Starling City from star city is not a big deal. If you're going to create a series they needed to take liberties and frankly green arrow has never had that much interest or well written story lines in the comics.

Hopefully it turns out for the better.

I mean what is the generally accepted method by which she gained her super powers?

I mean, she got those before she put on a costume and joined a super team, right?

Right?

I wish Charlie Hunnam was playing Green Arrow. He resembles Year One Ollie so much. Been saying for years now that he'd make a great GA.
