Guy guys guys, like me and other posted said just cause cw as it is currently/was during dawn o run of things. Is no way to think that is what the new guy who is now in charge of the network is g oing to be things. Like we said we know he wants dc shows, we know he wants genre shows(like supernatural). When he came on this past start of the tv season. He had no control in things since those decisions were made before he came in charge. This coming fall 2012-2013 season will be his chance to change thing up. Now yes we are still going to see crap like 90210/gosship girls since they are still for the most part doing decent ratings wise i believe for the network. Its no different then any other network to keep things they are doing good by ratings and all that. But he can start changing things up.

So to we see how changes go with the nextwork over next few yrs. We shouldnt treat his cw like lifetime jr dawn o was trying to make it be. The network could easily can things and become a totally different thing. Its just going to take some time for that.

Same for this green arrow series. We dont know what direction the show will take, and casting wise. Will they want a young ollie, or a 30s yr old ollie. Still early in process. Since we have no details about the series itself. Personally i would like to see an older ollie. Since we saw young one on sv for past few yrs. But also would be nice to see a young ollie and see within his own show his past and origins better played out.

Now ya budget wise it would be good to do street level villains, thugs, and political/bad rich business guys deal. So we can have the show be a social view on things. Which is what green arrow character was known about doing in its run. Then once in awhile toss in a big super villain.

The project is still a LONG way from seeing the light of day. I'd bet this will still die in developement

I think it doesn't matter who is in charge as long as execs show complete disregard for the source material. Just once I would like one of these teams to say, "We are going to stick as close to the characters roots as possible." But they always feel that the material needs to be "fixed up" to appeal to wider audiences. Studios really don't have the balls to truly adapt these characters.

The CW will likely greenlight the most pilots in its history, between 6-8 dramas and possibly 1 or 2 comedies as the network is mounting an aggressive push in offering more originals year-round under new president Mark Pedowitz. Among the buzzed about projects at the network are Arrow, based on the Green Arrow DC Comics, which nears a pilot order, the Sex & the City prequel The Carrie Diaries and the Beauty And The Beast reboot.

I doubt this will be any good. I only saw a little bit of the Green Arrow character on Smallville and he was laughably bad. He talked like a drag queen Batman.

I know they aren't following that Green Arrow story arc here, but I have no faith that the CW can create anything superhero-related that is even remotely good.

We don't really know if it will use or not use comic elements this early in the game. Really I took the comment as they wanted to put there own spin on mythos like sv did. But even if there isn't much comic elements in pilot when it goes to series and more cast/crew come on board we can see things be different. Plus the cw president really wants more genre/dc stuff. So if it doesn't happen for this fall, maybe mid season or fall 13. I don't think it will stay in developmental hell forever.

The CW went heavily after pre-sold titles in its pilot choices today, greenlighting Arrow, based on the DC Comics book Green Arrow; an adaptation of Candace Bushnell’s novel The Carrie Diaries, a prequel to Sex And The City; and a reboot of the 1980s series Beauty And The Beast. The three join the first pilot ordered by the CW this season, mystery drama Cult.

Arrow is described as a modern retelling of the story of DC Comics character Green Arrow. The project, from Berlanti Prods and Warner Bros TV, was written by Andrew Kreisberg (Warehouse 13) and Marc Guggenheim based on a story by Greg Berlanti and Guggenheim. The three are credited as writers/executive producers on the pilot. David Nutter is expected to direct. Justin Hartley, who played the character on the CW’s Smallville for several seasons, is not attached to the new project. Arrow marks the second pilot order for Berlanti and Guggenheim this season along with the Fox legal drama Guilty, written by Guggenheim and executive produced by him and Berlanti.

Because people were already getting Green Lantern and Green Hornet confused.

That is true, unfortunately.

Oh well. I'm glad they're moving forward with it. I just hope it's good.

Charlie Hunamm/Josh Holloway for Ollie! :woot:

I'm sure they'll most likely get someone younger than Holloway though.

Charlie Hunamm will never happen. SOA is still going strong.

Well the good thing about green arrow is that you dont have to stick slavishly to the source material because a lot of it is not very good.

In terms of villains the ones that I recall from his book are count vertigo, merlin (i think the other archer), clock king, brick, onomatopoeia.

The rest is open to interpretation. If they get a good mix of corporate villains and underworld villains the series could be good.

Clock King is a Green Arrow villain? I always associate that character with Batman: TAS.

I'm pretty sure he is, same with count vertigo who showed up in that episode with talia in Batman: TAS. But I could be wrong.

Lmao. The other pilots ordered are a Sex and the City prequel with a young Carrie, and a 'tween porn' take on Beauty and the Beast...

Gives you an indication of what to expect from "Arrow." The new CW president won't change the type of shows airing on the network.

Oh ****ing can it already... :whatever:

I doubt that... That would be illegal.

"Tween Porn" is another word for the Twillight approach. It's "porn" for tween girls.

The same thing present in "The Vampire Diaries," "The Secret Circle" "Red Riding Hood" etc

Congrats for greenlight. Can't wait for cast and rest of vrew on board for pilot and then series. As for title we where told it would be arrow since news broke. Which I don't see is a problem a name is a name. Take for example that cbs/nbc modern sherlock holmes series in the works is going by elementary. So arrow still relates to the character.

A slightly negative way to think of their approach to it is that Wonderwoman was a modern retelling in a modern world with little basis in the comics, just like todays report about GA - and that from the get go was just awful.

I'm all for retooling the origin from the 40's. But guess what - they did that perfectly with Year One.

We have no clue tone/direction or script will be yet. So the whole spiel about modern retelling could me nothing. Or be more like what sv did. It was a modern retelling of superman mythos, did its own things, and tossed in some comics stuff too.

I'm actually excited about the Beauty and the Beast one. I believe ABC is also doing one with Beauty and the Beast.

What's with Hollywood and their new obsession about fairy tales, that everyone wants to rush out the adaptation based on the same story at the same time?
