Green Arrow series in the works at The CW

If I was the network President, I would bring Supernatural out of the Friday night slot and pair it up with this new GA series. I would have Supernatural air sometime between Monday and Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. and the new GA series at 9 p.m. the same night. I would move Gossip Girl from the Monday night 8 p.m. slot to Friday night at 9 p.m. (and tell the creators that next season will be the last, so finish it up). 90210 would move from Tuesday night 8 p.m. to Friday night 8 p.m. Hart of Dixie would move up from 9 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday nights and I would pair the new Beauty and the Beast show with it at 9 p.m. Tuesday night would be Supernatural and Green Arrow. Wednesday would be Nikita and Ringer. Thursday night stays the same. Friday is of course 90210 and Gossip Girl (where both shows can die out quickly).

Maybe he could start out clean shaven and grow the beard if the show lasts long enough to get awesome. Kind of a forced Growing the Beard situation.

Praying that they keep the Robinson Crusoe element for the origin/background and that they use that to set the show up, it could be that he's clean shaven before he gets stranded, then of course can't really shave on the island (though maybe shell edge or something he finds to have a go at shaving occasionally). The style he ends up with is the best he can do without cutting his lip or his chin, and when he gets back someone mentions it and he says he kind of likes it

i would ideally too put it on tues/wensdays. All counting which new pilots go to series, and how much schedule placement they got. We got one known spot opening with oth ending soon. But i dont know how other shows like nikita/secret circle are holding. But there could also be the chance maybe the cw will try to do a sunday block again to add a few more shows in to be more like other networks. But if spn stays i would definately like to see it paired with ga, unless the deadman series happens then a 2hr dc block would be a nice thing to have on what ever day.

That could work too. I too hope they keep some version of Oliver's Island Adventure, that's my favorite part.

That would probably have to count on if they wanted to show that in pilot episode, or if we get it shown in first season. Which i hope so, and where the show is shot/budget regulated for pilot/series.

Hopefully the keep Star city and just set it in some state like they do with Gotham and Smallville.

I dont see why they wouldnt have it set in star city, no reason to change his location.

My hope would be that they actually shoot in a city, like the Metropolis in the early SV seasons. The later seasons that shot solely on the backlot looked worse for it.

That again would probably count on its per episode budget is. But i am sure they will have a few standing sets for some things, and then like you said sawyer hopefully it will have a real city shoots be it la, vancouver, or some other city.

Ollie didn't always have a beard anyways. Maybe some weeks he will have a goatee and others he won't.

Same problem.

It gets too obvious when Green Arrow conveniently has a beard during the same times that Oliver does.

That is why I say if they have a bbeard itsba fake beard ollie just wears when he is ollie, or as green arrow. To help throw off folks.

Green Arrow wasting time cosmetically applying on fake facial hair before going into battle.. that's stupid.

The beard only works well during the times when Oliver Queen was a reclusive character, or when he lost his fortune.

One would hope that Ollie does become a bit reclusive. Spent his early 20's being in the public eye and doing stupid stuff. Then the island happens and he changes for the better, learning what it's like to have nothing, and seeing how the wealthy can be corrupt and oppress others. So when he returns, he keeps his van dyke, focusses on being GA, and tries to stay out of the public eye, while directing his company to better things maybe via a proxy CEO whom he trusts

That would be perfect.....except, on the CW it's bound to focus on Oliver Queen, excentric rich playboy. The complete antithesis of reclusive.

Green Arrow will probably be much less in focus, especially with the budget constraints for action and the network audiences to cater to.

The CW’s Green Arrow Pilot “Arrow” – Character Details (Spoilers!)

And now some of the mysteries are solved!

Via casting breakdowns, GreenArrowTV has learned a little bit about some of the characters we’ll be seeing in The CW’s pilot Arrow.

Here are some of the characters we have to look forward to (subject to change):

Disclaimer: It is not the intention of GreenArrowTV to ruin any secrecy regarding this project, but instead to get people excited and interested in more. In other words, DC or WB – hopefully this a good thing rather than a nuisance, although if there is a takedown request, please contact us and it will be respected.

Oliver Queen – It’s pretty obvious this would be the name of the main character, right? It sounds like he was believed dead for a few years before making a return home.

At some point Oliver is kidnapped and cuffed to a chair but gets himself loose.

The Arrow wears a green body armor that is “so dark it’s virtually black.” He has a bow and arrow, of course. He may have a mask covering the lower half of his face, distorting his voice. The costume also has a hood.

It sounds like this version of Oliver Queen is at least 25, and he is written very much like the Green Arrow was in his better Smallville appearances.

It also seems that we will see flashbacks to his time on the island and how he got there, and what led him to becoming a good guy.

Dinah “Laurel” Lance – Dinah’s using her middle name here. She and Oliver have not seen each other in five years, before his return to the city. “Laurel” went to law school. It doesn’t appear that she is the Black Canary (yet). She works with a firm called the City Necessary Resources Initiative.

Tommy was Oliver’s best friend before he disappeared for several years. He sounds like a bit of a frat boy. He notices Oliver has changed a lot in his years away. The character himself might have a tie to a Green Arrow foe from the comics. Tommy tells Oliver about what his funeral was like a few years earlier.

Sara – Back on the boat, Oliver had a history with a character named Sara, and that history may be the reason Laurel is not happy to see him when he returns to town. In fact, she’s downright angry.

Thea – A young relative of Oliver’s, around 18. He teasingly calls her “Speedy.”

Moira Queen – Oliver’s mom is still alive as of the pilot, but his father was killed on the boat, in the incident that originally sent Oliver to the island. In the years since, she has remarried a man named Walter who doesn’t understand Oliver’s sudden interest in the company, Queen Consolidated.

The city seems to be called “Starling City” rather than “Star City.”

DC Comics shoutouts include a “Mr. Grell” and “Danielle DiDio.” There’s also a bank account numbered 52.

How does it sound, so far?
Very, very good!
Errr...... I'm not sure about some of that.

Though, thankfully, it doesn't come close to the utter fecal matter that Wonder Woman was. This is still salvagable. Him not being a teenager is pleasing enough.

That sounds awful & Starling City wtf ? ****ing same old CW

It definitely sounds relationship focused, like a soap/drama.

I'm going to wait judging this until I at least see a trailer.

I actually don't have a problem with that. Star City is a ****ing ridiculous name. The way I see it is it could be like Sin City. Real name is Basin City, but everyone living there calls it Sin City. This could be Starling City, but everyone calls it Star.

Why not use Star City? They even mentioned it in Smallville...

They should just make this a spin-off, saying Ollie moved after Clark "came out".

Plus, a cameo by Tom would be awesome.

Queen was one of the few bright spots those last few years of Smallville, too...

do that and then he stays married to Chloe with a kid.

I'd fix that by making the first episode about how Lana came back and poisoned Chloe and her kid then flew into the sun. Therefor OQ moves free of any baggage...
