Green Arrow

yea guys they already are turning it into the show. I really dont understand DC, the arrow tie in book didnt sell, why do they think that turning this book into the show-like book is going to make it?

So instead of continuing to let lemire and andrea craft one of the best books on the shelf, they do this crap.

guys it really is that bad. it feels like what issue 17 would have been without lemire

This is really ultimately my biggest problem with DC. Every single creative team swap heralds some salt the earth mentality that burns down everything that previous team established for no god damn reason.

Damn so in one issue these dudes managed to undo everything Lemire set up for them to take over from?

They didn't undo anything. Lemire's the one that killed off supporting characters from the previous run in the first issue. Kreisberg and *other guy* just put Emiko, Fyff, and Naomi on a bus while they set up their own story.

Lemire and Sorrentino decided themselves to end their run.

Jeff Parker didn’t drop anything from Geoff Johns aquaman.

Three characters got dumped in one speech bubble,
Emiko of training somewhere ( which she already said she wanted to be trained by Ollie)
Naomi is off the grid for whatever reason

. He stripped the book down to its barest bones and now we're getting a ****ing fight with Meryln and some boring **** with Queen Industries, the least interesting element of mythos Green Arrow in general.

And Lemire shot Jax in his ****ing face in the first issue. I don't know if Emerson was in the book before Lemire, but he killed the **** out of him too.

Lemire stripped the book to it's bare bones too and brought back Count Vertigo. If you don't like the book, fine. But I don't understand why you're taking issue with the fact that the new writers want to take the book in their own direction and set it up as such when Lemire did the same exact thing.

lemire stripped the book of DEAD WEIGHT! he didnt drop characters we all fell in love with!

your missing the point, its not about the writer making it his own, its about it sucking. very different.

Ollie being poor, well, that's sort of been the mainstay for decades. The New52's return to Ollie as a rich playboy is just going back to the Golden Age, and Lemire has already put some major cracks in that so who knows how long it will last? "Poor Ollie" seems to be the preferred version.

I uh... Alright?

No, luis is complaining about the writers making it their own.

And the TV show has its own comic anyway what the point

For almost 30 years Green arrow was classified as batman rip off. until 1970

Yeah, I know who Green Arrow is. Why do you keep quoting his Wikipedia page instead of responding to my wondering why Kreisberg putting Emiko on a bus for a little while to set up his own run is super disrespectful to what came before and Lemire shooting supporting characters in the face right out of the gate isn't?

I think Naomi felicity and emiko could work side by side without putting then on a bus. I mean look the bat family you 4 like different robins working all together..

But so happy
Mia Dearden
is back

But Batman has Batman, Detective Comics, Batman-Superman and Batman Eternal, plus a book solely devoted to Dick Grayson, team books led by Jason Todd and Tim Drake, and a book about Damian's adventures with Batman/Batman searching for his body. There's one Green Arrow book.

It could work on one big family. pre 52 green arrow used to have connor hawke, black canary, mia, and roy..

what dont you understand? Lemire got rid of all the problems the book was having. The previous teams made the book a mess and brough on a bunch of supporting cast that no one liked or cared for. So he got rid of them.

the current team has immediatly alienated the current supporting cast that PEOPLE LOVE! Its not the same thing, i give it to you for sticking to your point, but its a WEAK one.

Obviously I'm not everyone, or "the people" - but I didn't like Emiko, didn't like that Ollie's time on the island was planned and forced and part of some enigmatic clandestine myth group of totem warriors, didn't like that about half a dozen people were suddenly better with a bow than Ollie, have always hated his "team arrow" choices since the reboot, and felt he was just going off on his own missions with little regard for the city he claimed to want to save.

But at the same time I agree the relaunch of Nu52 in terms of GA has been shocking across the board. Lemire was good, but only as a standalone story teller - not as someone responsible for writing a superhero character part of a larger universe. Grell was great - but only in the context of his doing away with most of the superhero elements of his entire run to make his version of Ollie more grounded.

I think that we should wait and see if the new team will eventually bring back those characters before crucifying them for it. The new creative team is trying to put Green Arrow back into the fold of the DC Universe while trying to keep the feel of the Arrow TV show and Lemire's run. They deserve to have some time, especially since the first issue wasn't bad at all.

After reading a lot of good stuff about the Lemire run (mostly from this thread) I bought the 2 volumes and I really enjoyed it. Then I decided to read the first three volumes of New 52 and I am halfway through the second volume now and I already regret buying it.
The art is rather boring and Oliver is such a jerk and the stories are not interesting at all.
Once volume 6 comes out I will read it and I hope the new guys will keep up the quality that came with Lemire and Sorrentino.
