Homecoming Green Goblin Costume Design

Someone mentioned possibly basing Goblin's design off of Malaketh's, so using my limited knowledge of photoshop I tried to see how it might look. I normally hate the trend of slapping hoods on every character, but I thought it looked too much like a bald green vampire. Maybe if the hood's point had that hanging slouchy nightcap look on the back?

I brought up point doing a hood would work. Ore in favor of the look plus if we did Hobgoblin later have a more uniform look across the goblins. Plus it would be a better look then trying to make elf hat look work in life action.

Well how would you pull it off then. I think like dc did yrs ago and got rid of hat on GA and went with hood. Hood would make more sense in modern age and still pull off the look. Or if not hood maybe more cap like thing tssm did?

Don't get me started on Green Arrow's hood. There, I actually like the look of the hood better (I never liked Green Arrow's hat really) but the hood makes no sense for an archer hero, especially if he's trying to use it to conceal his identity. It limits visibility a lot. And if he's worried about using it to hide his identity it makes it even worse.
I'm okay with GA having a hood because it looks good, but it really doesn't make much sense at all.

Anyway as far as GG goes, you've seen me post the pic of concept art before I'm sure. You know what I think looks good. I'll just look really redundant if I post it again.

well as much as i do like the elf hat look from the books. I am just looking at it from the world we have and suits we seen in the mcu. For me the elf hat just doesnt seem like something that would gel with how every one else is in the mcu.

If pulling off a scarier, more comic accurate GG goes against the trend of MCU heroes, (though I don't think it does) then break the trend.
I don't really want to see GG again, but if they do him they better make him look right.

I did a comment about this before and I will post it. It was me defending Raimi's Green Goblin suit but the subject focused more on how to adapt Goblin's suit.

Name me all the comic book villains who wear a rubber mask. Think about that. I can't name barely any who wears a rubber mask in which his mouth isn't covered like so:

Dr Doom wears a metalish mask:

Black Mask wears a wooden mask:

Scarecrow really just wears a straw material type mask:

The problem with the Green Goblin is the dude in the comics wears a full on rubber face mask and for some reason his mouth will move like he wearing makeup.

Yes Raimi did try. Now concept art is one thing. That's ****ing drawings. The only thing that matters is this:

The problem with this. Producers at Sony felt it was too scary and I believe Dafoe couldn't breath in it.

Now some people say Green Goblin looks like a Power Rangers villain. I say how is his look any different from THE BIGGEST AND PERHAPS GREATEST VILLAIN IN MOVIE HISTORY IN DARTH VADER????

any different than this?

Now let's look at Raimi's. Overall while he didn't look 100%, the Goblin at least felt like he was the Goblin in the comics. Green Goblin is meant to make Peter's life a living hell. After their first meeting at the parade, everything the Goblin did was to make Peter's life a living hell.

Attacking his boss and the place he works out

Attacking Aunt May

Kidnapping MJ

Now last thing, let's look at Norman Osborn. Dude owns a billion dollar company that does all types of military stuff and some people complain about the Goblin suit and glider coming from Oscorp. Because it's not like superheroes who own billion dollar companies use stuff from their companies...

Honestly, I think Ultimate Spider-Man has the RIGHT IDEA WITH THE GOBLIN IN SOME TERMS. Having Norman turn Goblin by going through a transformation is an ok idea and the best way to go in terms of having a real Goblin look. Maybe not make the transformation like Hulk but more Joker in ROTJ.

It would probably be the best idea to have something like the 616 Goblin.

The problem with TASM2 Goblin suit is simple. It's unmotivated.

The suit connected to the glider is literally the same idea as the Raimi suit. I mean I can on about Kid Goblin's backstory but I'm more talking about appearance. It's basically a darker green suit of Raimi's Goblin without the mask.

Just my 2 cents. Green Goblin is hard to adapt but Raimi did it well and if the MCU wants to do something, Ultimate Spidey mixed with ROTJ seems like a good idea.

He should wear a costume and they can explain why he is dresses as a Goblin. Show a flashback of Norman Osborn's Dad abusing his son and he scares him at night dressed as a Goblin. Norman Osborn can use that fear as his disguise

Ehh.. No.

That's a plotline out of FFINO

for me i said it before what if they did something more akin to cap's helmet/mask deal. So have the helmet mask covering the face for the most part. But eyes/mouth are partially visable so actor can emote and all that, then you can include while he is using the glider he has lens that cover the eye holes.

For me like i said the other day i just dont see the elf hate design working. As much as i said i do love the look in the comics. For me its just one of many things for comics in general that doesnt translate well to screen. More so if again oscorp ends up in the weapon/chemical game. Why would he make suit with that. Which is why hood/cloak i think would work better. But again if/when we get to goblins i just hope we get something closer to comics look. I dont want raimi/webb looks again. Like i said if they can do loki, red skull, winter solider, thanos for examples pretty close. I am sure marvel is the one that can get the look down good.

I really like that.

All i want when we do get back to the goblin is as i said before something more closer to the comics.

I wouldn't mind if they made a Green Goblin version of Hobbie's Secret Wars costume.

It utilizes technology while still having an authentic feel. Make his face with prosthetics but play it off as a mask (a silicone mask just isn't threatening enough IMO)

Replace the orange areas with purple and the blue areas with a dark metallic green or black. Then give him an elf hat made of steel, I think that would satisfy everyone (though I may be horribly wrong.)

I... do not understand

are you referring to the new Fantastic Four movie? I don't understand how that's a plot line out of that movie?

Ben's brother would say "it's clobberin time" when he was gonna beat him up and that's the origin of that phrase. I really don't think we need origins for this stuff. Just have him say the phrase, just have gobby wear the costume.

Though you have to admit, it would be rather strange for Norman to be like
"I have these great peak-human abilities! Now what shall I choose for my gimmick.. *looks down* What's this, it appears to be a Goblin costume. Well, beggars can't be choosers."

I don't think having Norman's dad scare him in a Goblin suit is the way to go, but there has to be some kind of origin. Otherwise it's just incredibly stupid.

The best way to give Goblin his look while skipping the set-up would be to make his appearance caused by a transformation, similar to what TASM2 tried to do. That way his Goblin-esque features would be entirely out of his control.

Or maybe after 2 franchises the general audience gets the hint that Osborn's=Goblins, thus we all agree to unanimously shut up the moment Normal randomly pulls a Goblin mask out of his pants.

Let's just not see him put on the suit. We don't have to see everything on-screen. Keep it a mystery, like the comics.

I don't see how it'd be a mystery, honestly only 4-6 year olds would be surprised the moment Gobby is revealed as Norman.

That's the most important step. This movie - no, this franchise has to be completely self aware of it's current position. A Goblin mystery is only a little bit more compelling than Uncle Ben's death, and so far Marvel has been wise to skip that as well.

Plus I still stand by my original point. A Goblin costume is way too far-fetched for it not be explained in the slightest, especially since Norman without the costume is a vital character to Spider-Man lore. If they were going to go this route, then his Goblin look would have to be organic.

What if Norman got inspiration from Spring-Heeled Jack? A goblin/demon like creature from the Victorian era who took towns by fear with his appearance. I don't know, it's the quickest explanation I can think of.
