Green Lantern reboot ideas.

Hahahahaha i love imagining that...
Luke Wilson as Hal Jordan
Owen Wilson as Guy Gardner
Willem Dafoe as Sinestro
Bill Murray as Ganthet
For a Wes Anderson GL to work, he has to actually make it as a superhero film. Not put Hal Jordan (or whatever lantern) in his own cinematic universe.
Yes, the film can have some Wes flavors. But it still has to be more of a superhero adventure than his previous work.

Then why have Anderson do it at all? If I see a Wes Anderson Green Lantern film, I want The Kinks to be playing in every scene.

Great cast dude. Even though they're not definitive GL villains, I'd be fine with Despero or Mongul in a GL movie.

Basing a movie after the Despero/John/Katma story could be awesome

But GL and Katma being stuck on War World is interesting

Why shouldn't they reboot?

A reboot doesn't mean having to give Hal Jordan another origin story for the entire first movie.

Thanks guys!

Other story ideas I'd love to see:

Big props to Dr Cosmic, that post is better than the GL movie, all by itself.

Not sure about Monghul though, always thought of him as a Superman villain, and not a very good one, he's like Darkseid's slightly weaker cousin, but still manages to be a bigger *****e-bag. Also, there are so many great GL villains to choose from - with Sinestro and his corps being at the
top of the list.

Also, while Vinnie Jones definitely has the look, I'm not sure I'd find Monghul intimidating with a cockney accent. Jones' Juggernaut was more comic relief than menace in XMTLS. There are still plenty of roles Jones could play in DC films. He could play Lobo, as that accent would suit the character, (although he'd have to say "Bastard" instead of "bastich").
but this is just IMO. If the right director and writers could pull it off why not ?

As long as it was fun to watch, and not lame, then why not indeed ?

BTW Frieda Pinto as Katma Tui would be infinitely better than Blake Lively was as Carol Ferris (she was simply awful).

Who do you think would have been a better choice for Carol? Who is your preferred choice?

I would have preferred a more experienced actress. It's a role someone like Olivia Wilde would have been very appropriate for. If they script had been a bit more polished, they could have gotten a terribly talented actress like Keira Knightley or Emily Blunt. With Reynolds in his early thirties, they could have gotten someone really experienced in his age range with their own following larger and not so estranged from Green Lantern as gossip girl. A Rachel McAdams, a Jessica Biel. At that time there were a gaggle of hotties Blake Lively's age with charismatic talent who were on their way to greater things like Emma Stone and Anna Kendrick. I personally would have enjoyed any of those choices more.

Thanks man! I feel that, yeah, Vinnie is just the best big intimidating actor I could think of. I'd hope he could bring more of a Snatch/Smoking Aces vibe than an XMTLS vibe. I'm sure there's someone else better, but you want someone big to fill out Mongul. And you don't want The Rock, who's big to against Mongul who's bigger with Mongul played by some guy who is, in the end, not really all that big. And Pinto was Anarchy Today's idea, it was brilliant.

On Mongul himself, I agree, he's a pretty sucky Superman villain, but what he had in the pages of Green Lantern during the whole build up to the War of Light was EPOCH! He makes a much better GL villain than Superman villain, imho. It doesn't hurt that he's a way to do the Yellow Lantern Corps without having to try and replace and outdo Strong's Sinestro, or call back to and be defined/understood in the context of the 2011 film by keeping Strong. I couldn't come up with better than Vinnie. Syllvester Stallone? It seems way far out of Terry Crews' wheelhouse.

I do see your point on the accent thoguh. Cockney is space sounds more funny than scary. One way to deal with Vinnie Jones' accent is to overdub him the way Silver Surfer was done. Get Keith David in there, that'll rock socks. Another way is to use the storyline where Mongul's tongue is cut out by Sinestro. Or make him speak a crazy alien language and have John's ring translate. Or some combination. You gotta admit though, seeing Jones ugly mug in yellow is not a guy you want to fight, even if you're The Rock with a Green Lantern ring. But if there's someone better for the job, I'm so down for that.

Finished my video series all about the upcoming crop of DC movies. Part 4 is all about the movie that can bring GL back into the fold and turn that whole ship around. Check it out:

I have always viewed Carol Ferris as an authoritative and suave woman. She is suppose to be a businesswoman. That's why I think the character was poorly written. DrCosmic's choices are pretty much the best choices at that time and they really should have gone with one of them. But my left field brain suggests Jennifer Carpenter circa 2010.

If Dwayne Johnson's going to play a GL, he should play Kilowog.

What about brolin for darkseid?

I wouldn't put Darkseid in a GL movie, but Brolin can do anything.

To give the film some Wes Anderson quirks and not be completely generic.

Isn't that a bit like killing a fly with a bazooka? I think there's a few non-generic guys that could bring this home without going totally out of their wheelhouse. Duncan Jones with his indie cred, Rupert Wyatt with his documentary background. A big win would be Alfonso Cuaron.

Teenage Arisa, Elle Fanning. Older-looking Arisa, Alice Eve.

Three of those directors would be really good, especially Cuaron. Others I see could pull it off would be Neil Blomkamp, Alex Proyas, Joseph Kosinki, JJ Abrams, and Guillermo Del Toro.

While Cuaron would be fantastic, I'd pay to see what the Wachowskis can bring to the table.

Like I have said before I hope Arisia Rrab appears in a next Green Lantern film. Shes my favorite female GL.
