Horror Gremlins 3?

Bring back the original creative team and this will get my thumbs up. A lot of the youngins these days don't know what Gremlins or even Ghostbusters are. Shameful.

No my little cousins know what Ghostbusters are. But they do have older siblings.

My three younger siblings love the first two Gremlins films.

Never underestimate kids these days! That's what I say!

I really hope they retain the 'theme'

I know it wont be Goldsmith, but they can still use that theme :)

I could be open to this if they push it into R-rated territory like the original would have been.

I would rather see a movie that covers where these little suckers actually come from, like are they aliens

I want to say there was a novelization or story book that went the alien route when one of the films came out?

It's best not to reveal stuff like that. Leave it a mystery.

I would rather see a movie that covers where these little suckers actually come from, like are they aliens or conjured up by magic or just ancient mystical creatures.

...eh, I'd rather they didn't. That worked fine for the novelization back in 1984, but IMO today "It's the work of aliens!" would just come off as flat-out lazy. Not every Mysterious Origin should be explained.

I like that version so much more than the showy, jazzier up-tempo version they used in "Gremlins 2"...probably due to the "Calliope From Hell"/"Ice Cream Truck Of Doom" feel of the original. :woot:

This remake is a bust if they don't have the original theme in it. :o

I'd say just make a sequel like Jurassic World where Gizmo is with a new family and they'l hint at the other films.

what makes the old theme great is the 'voices' you hear in the background (sounds like the sound the one head of a gremlin sounded like when it landed in the fireplace).

Who else thinks that Gremlins 2 is super underrated?

I actually quite like The New Batch. Obviously, it had nothing on the first one but it is still very enjoyable.

Gremlins 2 is the only Gremlins I care about.

I just like the wackiness of the second film. And the animatronics were way better.

Probably my favorite moment of the second film.

:hehe:

Ghostbusters films are on TV all the time here in the UK and is still a point of reference in pop culture. Plenty of Kids know who the Ghostbusters are. Gremlins slightly less so.

How can you not like the sequel? It was more goofy/comedy than the first one but it still was great in how it expanded on the Gremlin's diversity and mischief.

It's brilliant!

The six years between the films definitely saw puppetry and animatronics improve across the board. Tony Randall voicing the "Brain" Gremlin was fabulous!

the new batch gets a lot of undeserved **** from people if you watch it how it was intended as a spoof of the first it works brilliantly

and i've even go to say gets a lot of key elements such as the gremlins personality better than the first

umm what, the original was and was always intended to be rated pg, they never went for an R. the kick up came from the fact it was rated as low as pg hence the creation of a pg-13. an r rating was never intended for either gremlins

the first movie IMO would be today R. a gremlins movie that is modern pg13 would suck.

i dont think the new movie should be R. the mpaa needs to be destroyed.

From Wikipedia:

The film's script went through a few drafts before a shooting script was finalized. The first version was much darker than the final film. Various scenes were cut, including one which portrayed Billy's mother dying in her struggle with the gremlins, with her head thrown down the stairs when Billy arrives. Dante later explained the scene made the film darker than the filmmakers wanted. There was also a scene where the gremlins ate Billy's dog, and a scene where the gremlins attacked a McDonald's, eating customers instead of burgers. Also, instead of Stripe being a mogwai who becomes a gremlin, there was originally no mogwai named Stripe; rather, Gizmo was supposed to transform into Stripe the gremlin. Spielberg overruled this plot element as he felt Gizmo was cute and that audiences would want him to be present throughout the film.

I'm not saying to make it darker, but I think a raunchier Gremlins would be funny. Make this the opposite of the "Robocop" and "Total Recall" remakes. They were watered down to PG-13 even though the originals were rated R.
