Hearing the dog's whimper and seeing his lifeless body in John's hands is enough.

If you're buying criterion films the I recommend Eyes Without a Face and House.

I heard good things about House. Don't think I heard much about the other one. I am going to add those to my list of movies to eventually buy

I also have Eraserhead and Barry Lyndon as eventual movies I absolutely NEED!

Arrow releases a lot of great horror blurays.

I have several :oldrazz:

I actually pre-ordered their next release for Re-Animator. I got Bride of Re-animator a while back, and I missed out on the Limited release, so grabbing this one.

Movies for me are like books. I just like having that physical copy. Also helps avoid issues like hard drive corruption, not being available due to poor internet connection, etc.

I also have a collector's mentality badly. If I end up buying 1 film in a series, I will tell myself I don't need the crappy sequels, and then I will break. I at least have myself trained to only buy the crappy sequels once they hit blu ray, LOL! Horror franchises are the worst as different distributors have the rights to different movies and often they only get released by companies like Shout who charge more (which is fair given they put more effort into their releases and it is bound to sell less copies than a major movie).

if it's a book i really enjoy, i will buy a hardback copy of it as i re-read books i really enjoy

i had a bad collector's mentality for a while, buying most cuz it's a good deal saying i'd always watch it later and most i still haven't seen lol

Blackout curtains are the devil. I went to bed at 11am, as is normal for my night shift misery, and I didn't wake up until 10pm. That's 11 hours! I have no concept of time! But I need them though, they block out the hated sun.

i slept almost 14 hours last night :eek :

Eyes Without A Face was a huge influence on a lot of European horror films. Don't think I like it enough to own, but it's definitely worth seeing.

So I have been trying to install FakeApp and it's a bit beyond me (I suck with command prompt) even following the instructions.

I really wanted to see what fat Brando would look like as Cap. :(

I have had a bad collector's mentality for about, 32 years now, LOL! I call it the "Ooooo, shiny syndrome!" I see things and I want them, and then I move on to something else, etc. It goes in cycles but I always come back to it.

spent $30 on a scratch off... won $200.

got greedy.

spent $90 on 3 more of the same ticket... lost all 3.

Said screw it.... played one more....

I have $80 now. Curse me and my greedy nature.

i think your watch is broken C.Lee :p

Hells bells.....I am an hour off......I've just been puttering around....I had a chance to watch another short movie before the month was out. The shame of it all.....

So, I'm dumb as a bum, but what makes the Criterion Collection version of a movie different than the copy I already have? Older movies without BluRay releases I get, but Armageddon is on there. I already have that cinematic classic on BluRay. Is it just a collector's thing?

you still made a profit.

i made $170 selling my old PS4 today

Theres still enough time to see Bunuel's classic Un Chien Andalou. It's only 15 minutes long.

Quality of the release. They take great care in restoration of the film, doing a proper transfer and sound mix, along with great extras.

I made a profit sure... but that $200 is sounding so much better than $80 lol

Largely, Criterion takes great care in the transfer of the movie (aka making sure it has optimal picture and sound quality) and offers very good booklets about the history of the movie and they still bother with making sure it has REAL special features.

No movie ever grossed me out than the opening of this movie, LOL!

Criterions editions often feature restored film transfers, commentary tracks, and other supplemental features

Forgot about the booklets. Yeah, those are great too. My favorite Criterion release is "The Passion of Joan of Arc". Best silent restoration I've ever seen.

you know what else... its not even $80 profit... it's $50 cause i spent the initial 30.

I have several Criterion DVDs and Blu Rays, but my favorite overall release of the ones I own is probably Gojira. The movie never looked better, and it stands still to this day as probably my all-time favorite Kaiju film

The Gojira restoration is great. I'd only seen it looking like garbage on TV, and on Criterion it was like a whole new movie.

i only own 6 criterions:

Manchurian Candidate
12 Angry Men
The Graduate
Anatomy of a Murder
The Rose
Easy Rider

I own the criterion copy of Vampyr. It came with the film's script and I think I'm going to read that soon because I couldn't follow along to closely with the film.
