We have roasted grasshoppers in Mexico too.

with chilli and lime!

It's delish.

Roasted cactus worms are good too. Called Chinicuiles, they are red and inflate once cooked. Crispy!!!

Ant eggs are another delicacy, they are creamy and super expensive.Called Escamoles or "mexican caviar" indeed.

Guess where I'm never going to visit, lol.

I'll go vegan before I willingly eat bugs.

During the Great Grasshopper Invasion of 1937 we roasted many a grasshopper.....really couldn't bring myself to eat any of them since they had previously eaten Uncle Semis, Aunt Bethany, Great Grandpa Othias and two thirds of the Greater Northern East Kentucky 1st Baptist Church.....and their petting zoo of farm animals used annually in the living Nativity play. Harsh times indeed.

@KiDD: Nutty flavor to bugs remind me of the time I had that dream of chewing a cockroach, tasted like an eggplant in musaka.
Gross until you try it, in which case it may still feel gross.

I have no idea if you are joking here or not. I'm gonna choose to believe you.

The only way to get me to eat bugs would be to grind them into a powder and then bake them into something actually recognizable as food. :p

Speaking of grasshoppers, there is a restaurant here in Houston, that serves grasshopper tacos, people say they are delicious. Has anyone ever had grasshopper tacos, I was thinking of maybe trying them some time?

The ancient one is wise. You made the right choice in accepting his word.

Please describe your experience for us.

Kelly, I am disappointed. There was a perfectly good "sound of crickets" joke to be made there, and you didn't seize it.
