i love all the shots. this is very cosmic and sci fi. we got ships, aliens and a planet or two so far. not to mention a celestial head. the shot of knowhere shows a really colorful galaxy. so far, space has been very colorful in all the marvel studios movies. i hope to see more of this type of space. i am not too into the black and white space.
the cosmic stuff is my favorite comic stuff. i can't wait. to see this.

The Stamos comment is not meant to be taken literally. It was sarcastic. But again, how would he have known who John Stamos was to begin with?

Because he watched Full House? Course, probably should've referred to him as Uncle Jesse, but still.

You have a point. However people have been hearing about "Planet of the Apes" for 50 years, and Transformers for 30 years. Those movies are mainstream. For the GA, this movie is out there.

Exactly. That's why I said "familiar property". There's no built in fanbase with this property. Which is great. We want studios to venture out and do new things, not just relying on sequels and reboots. But when they do and don't get good returns, they tend to fall back on those same sequels and reboots.

John Stamos was a young heartthrob in the early eighties. Perhaps Star Lord's Mom watched General Hospital?

Depends on when he was taken. Full House started in 1987 with decent ratings that only got better but it did give Stamos a lot of exposure that he didn't previously have. If Quill is taken around '88 or '89 then he would likely not only know who he is but being 10 might also totally buy into Jesse's "cool uncle" routine. And then, completely separated from pop culture, still believe it years later. I think it's meant to be taken completely literally.

Oh hell yes .... it's being reported on CBM that:

Howard the Duck gets a cameo!!!!!!!

Also via Stitch Kingdom...

Stan Lee: Xandarian Ladies Man
Nathan Fillion: Monstrous Inmate
Rob Zombie: Ravager Navigator Voice
James Gunn: Maskless Sakaaran

So Nathan Fillion really is just some random doink and not any big character...^^;

It's too bad, means he'll still be popping up in fan castings for the foreseeable future.

Fillion for Black Panther

James Gunn: “I actually have to clear everything with legal. We put in little things like graffiti on the walls and stuff like that. There’s a ton, a ton of characters from the comics in this movie, in little tiny roles. But we have to clear everything with legal because once I use their name then I’m screwed in that scene or whatever. We have just tons of reference to you know Marvel Cosmic throughout the movie. And I’m certain probably the most Marvel comics characters ever in one movie.”

Even Bigger News is that from the cast list:

COSMO

What's kind've funny about the whole Howard the Duck thing is Disney once threatened to sue Marvel for copyright infringement based on his look being too similar to Donald. LOL

I KNEW Stan Lee would be playing some kind of cosmic pimp haha

It is taking everything I have to not read the spoilers.

Definitely tuning in to watch this.

Marvel Studios and ABC have revealed that all five members of the Guardians of the Galaxy including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper will appear together on“Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Monday, July 21, the same evening as the film’s worldwide premiere. The group will talk about the film and also test their Marvel knowledge as each goes head-to-head in a trivia contest against Mia Grace, a 5-year-old superhero expert from Albany, New York. Check back here on Monday to see the Guardians all together!

The thing that cracks me up about that is the 5 year old "expert", lawl.

Is it me or is that a camel... ...toe in the Nebula poster?
