Variety did an article on the GotG merchandise.

When signing on to create products around a summer movie, the first film in a potential new franchise is usually off limits. The titles aren’t yet proven at the box office and could leave companies holding piles of unsold merchandise. They’ve been burned too many times before.


But Marvel Studios and Disney have been able to do something pretty impressive with “Guardians,” out Aug. 1.


Walt Disney Consumer Products has inked deals with more than 50 licensees like Hasbro, Lego, Mad Engine, KIDdesigns, New Era, Rubies and Disguise who will start flooding retail shelves with merchandise starting this month.

I'm pumped for the Art of Guardians of the Galaxy, I own all the others. Plus this one comes out before the movie which will be interesting.

I got the whole Marvel Legends GOTG wave online last week. The figures look decent, but the paint job is kinda sloppy.

Has anyone seen the figures at Target or Toys R Us yet? Any idea when they will arrive?

They went on sale on Target.com earlier last Sunday. I ordered a Starlord and Rocket but even though the order went through, they apparently didn't have enough of Rocket Raccoon.

Here's the DPCI for the entire line: this is for any figure in the line, not any specific figure. If this comes up in stock, it could be any one of the GotG figures.

It seems like Nova and Rocket will be the hardest to get.

I picked up Rocket's Warbird ship - it's on sale on Amazon-and loved it immensely. The construction is sturdy and ship looks great. I'm picking up the Milano next.

I have the Star-Lord & Nova on pre-order, hopefully they ship soon. The only other figure in the wave that looked good was Groot. :/

I also might need to save some money for those Hot Toys, god damn they look amazing.

I'm still too pissed at them for making me have to buy two comic figures that have nothing to do with the GOTG movie in order to complete Groot and have a full team lineup. So I doubt I'll be bothering to get a set. I may get Star-Lord, possibly Drax, but that's most likely it.

So I was browsing Department Store websites yesterday to see if any of the stores had anything in, Legends Figure wise.

I finally stumble upon Target. It says that My local Target has Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Nova in stock, but not available for store pickup. So I call them up, and ask if they are really in stock, and if I am able to buy them. The lady tells me that they arnt on the shelf, so I give her a Item Number to look up to see if they are in the back. She puts me on hold and about five minutes later she comes back and tells me yes, they are back there they just arnt on the floor yet. I ask her if I can go check them out and buy them, and she tells me yes.

So I think cool, I will be there in about 15, to 20 minutes. As soon as I get in the car they tell me they cant sell them until Sunday, and thats the day they have to put them out. FML

So a heads up, everyone. At least at Target, they should start to be put out on Sunday.

This doesnt surprise me. It really wouldnt surprise me to know they put it out the next morning, just to bs me.
