Guardians of the Galaxy Guardians Of The Galaxy- User Review Thread. SPOILERS!

These are five characters who will be unknown entities for many filmgoers entering this movie, but by the end of the film, they have been brought to life so beautifully that I can imagine every one of them being somebody's favourite. All five get to steal a scene, get a badass moment, get a laugh, and get a dramatic acting moment.

That's a good point, five unknown characters get defined.

Wow, I just get back from watch GOTG and I take back everything negative I said about this film.

This is the BEST superhero movie of the year.

Favourite guardian for me is definately Groot. I like how he is simple minded, dumb but has a nice caring heart.

I love the part where Groot used his branches as tentacles and attack the bad guys and use it as a swing. And Star Lord and Drax just stare at it speechless.

Groot is actually a scientist, he's not dumb at all.

And I like the part where Groot sacrifice himself to save the rest of the guardians.

And Gamora and Nebula reminds me of Kitana and Mileena. I like their relationship.

I love the use of 70s songs throughout the entire film. The comedy factor is great as well.

But the real highlight for me though, was Groot. For a character who only says three lines throughout and is mostly a CG creation, he absolutely steals the movie from everyone. I don't know how much of Vin Diesel's performance informed the final presentation, but if he played a big part in making this talking tree the most memorable character in the film, I give him all the praise in the world.

Agreed 1,000%. Groot was the best part of the movie to me.

The scene where he sticks his "arm" through like 8 enemies and bashes them all over the place, then looks back and makes that goofy smile had me rolling.

Diesel deserves loads of praise. This wasn't just a CGI cartoon. It was a real character and Diesel's different voice inflections and facial impressions help create the character.

Major respect to the animators though, of course.

Oh and the post credits stinger was a huge waste of time. Man what a disappointment. I have zero affection for howard the duck, so it did nothing for me. I laughed, but out of disbelief.

Nice Troll Marvel, nice troll.

I agree, but that's b/c my knowledge on Howard the Duck is limited, so I don't see why that was a big deal. Maybe someone can enlighten me....

I wish this movie was longer, to get more character development. I liked what we got, but I wish this was a three hour movie with all these characters, so we could really be brought into their state of mind. Maybe a flashback to Drax' family being killed and the same with Gamora's family. Showing what they've gone through.

I wish the fight scene with Nebula and Gamora was a bit longer to really show the struggle between them and how Thanos has raised them to be these elite killers. And I just wanted to know more about Ronan. I kept hearing about how he could be seen as an anti-hero but all we got was straight villain, although I did love his stand off with Thanos. Dude had NO fear! Loved that scene.

Yondu was definitely a highlight for me. Dude was straight badass.

This was a good, solid film. It had me tear up at times, especially that introduction, and of coarse had me laughing. But I feel it could've been better and hopefully we get an extended cut of this film, if there is one.

A high 8/10 for me.

Gunn did say he had scenes he took out and was investigating how to apply them, whether as deleted scenes or an extended cut.

Diesel deserves loads of praise. This wasn't just a CGI cartoon. It was a real character and Diesel's different voice inflections and facial impressions help create the character.

Major respect to the animators though, of course.

Agreed. He deserves some kind of award for his performance, even if he only said basically three words. Groot was simply incredible.

In short, I loved it. This is what an adventure film should be. This is what a summer blockbuster should be. This is what a superhero movie should be.

-The action, especially the climax, was great.
-I would call this movie the heart of the MCU. Scenes like at the end with Peter Quill and his mom [BLACKOUT]Awesome Mix Vol.3[/BLACKOUT] and the music comes on and he starts tearing up is one of the greater emotional moments in the MCU. If not the best, it's really up there
-All the characters, and I do mean all of them were awesome and well represented. Ronan is a bit of your standard doomsday villain and was a bit underwritten similar to Malekeith in TDW, but I really liked his performance so it kind of made up for it.
-The humor was really good. A lot of people, including me, have complained in the past about some of the Marvel films not being able to balance the amount of humor; but this movie nailed it. It was very funny but they didnt stop action scenes or tense moments to spout of a joke. Except at the very end, but I can excuse it once.
-Big up to Vin Diesel as Groot and Cooper as Rocket. I'll admit before seeing the full movie that Cooper's Rocket voice was meh. To me it just sounded like Bradley Cooper talking. I still think the lines used in the first two trailer I saw were redubbed because in the movie proper I couldnt even tell it was Cooper and it was done so well and with emotion and humor. Great Work

This and Edge of Tomorrow represent what summer movies should be. Funny but still dramatic. Great action but still good serious moments.

Guardians of the Galaxy knocked it out of the park.

A high 8/10.

Misc./Nitpicks:
-"You said it yourself b***. We're the Guardians of the Galaxy"
-I want that gif of Groot dancing. I need it.
-Brolin as Thanos is great. We're in for a real treat when he gets a bigger role. The CG was a bit off, but I know when he has a bigger role that he'll be more refined.
-How was Quill able to fly in space without a space suit or at least gloves or his helmet blocking his hair. I guess that it could be chalked up to [BLACKOUT]his alien DNA[/BLACKOUT]
-Djimon Honsou was kinda wasted
-About the post credit stinger: I mean it was funny, but I was really duped that it was gonna be really important. IGN was talking about spin off potential, some other site it was gonna really open up the Marvel universe. The 2nd site was obviously kidding I know now, but still. I mean yeah it's kinda funny to see [BLACKOUT]Howard the Duck[/BLACKOUT]. Do people really expect a movie starring him?! They couldve used the stinger to maybe set up a Nova Corp member recruiting an earthling, which would allude to Rick Rider or Sam Alexander. Or they couldve set up Ms. Marvel. Or show more Thanos. But this isnt a strike against the movie, just something I would comment on.

Saw it earlier and my god, I'm in love. GOTG. You, complete me.. I absolutely loved it the soundtrack was amazing and well used. The movie had such heart and beauty, it was badass and hysterical. Marvel took a risk and passed with flying colors. I also really loved Ronan I thought he was great. And Thanos My god he looks and sounds amazing to me. The scenes with him, goosebumps. I had to thrown on the soundtrack on my drive home after the film. Blasting it, just such a feel good movie. Loved it!

Terrific movie. Best Marvel film since The Avengers.

James Gunn gets away with a lot more than other filmmakers at Marvel Studios, and it works. Other than Gamora, all the heroes are well developed and endearing. They made a talking CGI raccoon more lovable than most superheroes are in their own movies (cough The Amazing Spider-Man). And when you can get Howard the Duck in your movie before WB can still get Wonder Woman on the big screen, that is saying something.

On the downside, the main villain was a compete bore. Nebula was fun, but she had nothing to do. And the third act was a bit bland until Peter Quill starts singing and dancing, then everything is forgiven. Still a fun experience.

Oh, and the soundtrack is awesome.

Nebula was fun, but she had nothing to do.
At least Nebula got to leave on a high note. Seeing that ship from a distance and hearing her yell "GET OUT!" before the poor pilot's body flies out of the ship was a great exit, I thought, and easily one of her most entertaining moments.

Diesel deserves loads of praise. This wasn't just a CGI cartoon. It was a real character and Diesel's different voice inflections and facial impressions help create the character.

Major respect to the animators though, of course.
I've said it before but its worth repeating: Vin Diesel is an absolutely fantastic voice actor. His character in The Iron Giant didn't have a lot to say either, but Vin did some amazing things with him anyway, and the same goes for Groot.

10/10. I was a big reader of the comics, when I saw they were making the movie my head exploded. to me, absolutely no question that this is the best Marvel movie yet. Avengers is close, but the emotion i felt during this movie outside of the amazing action was very real. i frankly didn't find a weakness anywhere in this film. really happy for Gunn, the actors involved, and Marvel. brilliant.

Excellent movie!

I have two issues: Ronan was boring, the villain had no personal reflection to the Guardians outside of Drax, we need an villain who has something relevance to the team. It's extra sad that he was vanquished, because comic Ronan is awesomesauce.

My 2nd issue is Drax's fight choreography wasn't on par with the Winter Soldier, because i love hand to hand combat, personal bias. =)

Story was servicable enough, but as people have pointed out: we're here to become fans of the Guardians, we got that.

Just came back from seeing it with the family. It was a very good movie. Funny, great action, & special effects were top notch. Ronan is one of my favorite Marvel movie villains to date.

I still think IronMan,The Avengers, & TWS are 1,2,3 as far as Marvel Studios movies go. But GotG is definitely nipping at TWS heels. Marvel is making really good movies and that's a plus!

GotG -> 8/10

Besides the obvious references like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars, you know what other movie this reminded me of (in a good way)? Heavy Metal. Specifically the scene in the beginning with Quill and the girl in his ship, as well as elements of Knowhere and the Ravagers. So much familiarity in this movie.

The whole look of the film was very Jean Moebius Giraud

He's a chemist. He cooks meth with Heisenberg when he isn't saving the galaxy.

He's also Royalty in the comics.
