Guardians of the Galaxy Guardians Of The Galaxy- User Review Thread. SPOILERS!

Well expect a good review next month.

EDIT: I WILL say that I might would have liked it better if Vance Astro was in the movie. Take out Ronan, fix Gamora/Drax, remove the dancing, redo the ending (I was expecting some awesome-ass battle between the Guardians and Ronan), remove the Collector, make Nebula a more prominent figure, and if you're gonna include Dale you might as well include Brennan too; if only Ronan was played by Mr. Doback...

In other words, you want a completely different movie. Just have to accept the fact that this movie just isn't for you.

Someone last page thought the movie was terrible.
If it's that guy, then I don't think I can take anything he posts as credible from now on in MCU-related threads.

That was my opinion, and I shared it, I wasn't trying to start any arguments.

I've seen all the MCU movies up until this point. The only Marvel movies I haven't seen in past years are DOFP, TASM2, and First Class, but those don't really tie in with the movies we're talking about.

It just... I don't know, there was something about this movie that I found rather disappointing.

Let everything sink in for a day or two and I might feel a little better about it. This might just be a temporary setback due to my disappointment.

It wasn't unenjoyable, but definitely the most disappointing Marvel studios movie i've seen so far. I really loved Rocket and Groot, who somewhat salvaged the film for me.

Just saw it lastnight and thought the movie was hilariously awesome. Loved all Guardians crew characters. Chris Pratt was perfect as Quill, Bradley Cooper did a brilliant job with rocket, Bautista was surprisely good, Zoe was badass as gamora, Vin Diesel had the easiest job out of all of them, to be honest anyone could have voiced Groot. The visuals were stunning and the action and comedy were well balanced although i did think the villain was weak, he kinda fell flat for me. I loved the end scene when Quill grabs the infinity stone then everyone combines by touching eachother and form some kinda powerup move and with that score! gave me goosebumps, I love stuff like that!!!. Looking forward to their next adventure together. Although this film was great Cap 2 is still my No1 film this year followed by X-men and now Guardians third. Spiderman 2 was a disappointment and not even in my top 10.

PS: OOH CHILD The Five Stairsteps is constantly playing in my head lol

After giving it some thought, I reckon I can agree that this movie was alright. I don't feel it deserves the praise that it's been getting here lately, but it was alright.

A lot of the humor and comedy was well-done and the action was pretty decent, and I like the fact that everyone on the team had awesome sort of defining moment; in other words, everyone had a part to play in the movie, it didn't just feel like a random mesh of characters.

I went into the theater expecting one thing, and I think that's why I was disappointed at first. However, I started to take the movie for what it WAS, not what I WANTED it to be, and I realized it wasn't TOO bad. Still, Ronan wasn't a good villain for me, and I wish Nebula and Yondu played bigger roles in the movie. Nebula is so awesome.

I give it a 7/10, in Marvel films that is (Cap2 was a 10/10, Avengers was 9/10).

Probably someone sick of our gloating that no one had rated the film lower than 6/10 on this thread. :cmad:
Someone who has no sense of fun it seems either. Also, think I may start using the term "Footloosing" for those who need a stick removal from their rears to actually enjoy something that is rather fun.

Weird - as much as I loved the film, I found Nebula to be underwhelming. Ronan they could have fleshed out more (I suppose) but I found him visually interesting and EXTREMELY intimidating, something the oft - compared Malekith just wasn't.

But Nebula.... I just found her to be a bit irritating, and not in a planned way.

Oh and the post credits stinger was a huge waste of time. Man what a disappointment. I have zero affection for howard the duck, so it did nothing for me. I laughed, but out of disbelief.

Nice Troll Marvel, nice troll.

I think the entire reason for the stinger is the reveal that Adam Warlock's cocoon is open/empty and that Howard is there to distract from that. In other words, while people notice it, it doesn't appear to be the most important thing in the end-credit sequence.

It's one of those things you don't really notice because you see a giant, talking duck. If they'd highlighted just Adam Warlock's cocoon, I think many more would have found the purpose of that scene. Plus, I think it was Marvel/Gunn doing another comedic bit at the end of their big comedic movie.

Seriously, I can't believe they get Vin Disel to say "I am Groot" , "We are Groot" and probably paid him a million dollars.

They could have got any other voice actors.

This has to be the easiest and best paid voice over job in the world.

They hired Vin Diesel as VA of Groot because of his work in The Iron Giant. They didn't just choose him randomly; it was a careful and well thought-out decision.

What did everyone think about Groot!
I thought he was a spectacular character and had so much depth! He was strong and powerful but he also had the hugest heart and wouldnt hurt a fly. I like how he also was almost like a kid (that smile when he killed all the thugs and when he was dancing in his flowerpot) and i loved him so much as a character! But even though he was a heartful character and cared about his peers (he risked his life for them!) he could still be a scary fella (shoving his branches up the aliens nose in prison was nasty!) What do you guys think about Groot and also the other characters in the film and how they were handled?

is it just me or is groot supposed to look kinda like Diesel?

They also mo-capped his face i believe.

Diesel's deep but kinda warm voice worked perfect for Groot. And i love when he starts roaring too. Especially that scene near the end when he kills like 20 guys.

They cast each actor for a reason, there is no "they coulda cast anyone" option as far as I'm concerned.

I loved Groot. You felt sorry for him. I "awwwed" in every scene with him. xD

Strangely enough, there's a picture of Diesel standing beside a prop of Groot and they look almost identical. One of is a tree, sure, but still.

Lol maybe they did make Groot look like him a bit.

After saying that, people will now be comparing Rocket to Cooper xD
