Bah, why the Phil bashing :(

On topic, this is sure to be a weird Tarzan with del Toro at the helm, did Tarzan ever have any horror aspects to it?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOD NO.

Del Toro sucks and would be totally wrong for this project. I so want to see a Tarzan movie done right (as NONE have yet) and I really do not see Del Toro being the guy to do this right. What has he made worth watching yet? NOTHING!!

Please WB, look somewhere else for a director.

Anyway...I love Tarzan. I hope he doesn't do a origin movie....cause it's been done to death. We all know it.

Lets get into the more....pulp adventure sci fi aspects of the original stories.

Pan's Labyrinth. ALOT of people and critics who have seen it have been giving it RAVING GREAT reviews!!!

Yep, that's the one. Eric Kripke, in recent interviews, disses Tarzan. And he was the co-creator of the show! So, you're not alone in thinking, "Wtf?!" In regards to that series.

My brain cells started to hurt and that means it's a **** show.

I agree. The WB agreed, it was a shortlived series. And the creators of the show agree. Lol. So, you're not alone... :cwink:

I can't wait to see Ron Perlman as the first old, ugly Tarzan.

Hopefully someone will finally make an actual adaptation of one of the books.....if you've never read one, you don't know what you're missing.

Nothing...other than Hellboy and Blade II(and Pan's Labrynth looks great), which are better than almost every comic book film made to date.

Michael Bay? Len Wiseman? The director of AVP?

And don't forget The Devil's Backbone, Chronos, and parts of Mimic.

Huh? Dude, no idea what you're saying. Sounds like just yelling out names of other directors. Or are you saying you would rather have one of these guys direct Tarzan??? Because, your post didn't make a lot of sense...?

Wrong. Both movies sucked.

The things about Hellboy that I didn't like were basic continuity errors - in terms of the characters and their abilities. Hellboy had his hands full with ONE of those dog creatures to start the movie, yet at the end can fight off a score of them. That is scratching the surface of the movie to me. I have more issues but really don't care to elaborate. I do think that Pearlman was perfect casting for the character and did enjoy the visuals of the film. Having never read the comic book I did not have any sort of feelings about the story or characters going on, so I had a clean slate. That may have worked against the film as I was pretty bored after 25 minutes.

Del Toro did the same thing in Blade 2 where the new breed of vampires were tougher than ****, many of the blood pack unloading round after round into one vamp and he is able to take it then run off. However at the end of the movie when Blade needs to be Blade he runs thorugh tunnels killing dozens of them with ease using the same ammunition.

The first 6 books are AMAZING reads. The second batch of 6 are pretty good as well but you start seeing how limited Burroughs was with his writing. Some very formulaic themes start showing (amnesia being the worst of all).

I am reading book 24 right now, I have read every other one Burroughs had written about Tarzan and I have enjoyed them a great deal.

Were the character done right (adapted from the books as Burroughs originally imagined) the movie would be one of the best action movies ever and also have a very R rating attached to it. Brutal and calculating, Tarzan in action is without equal.
