Fantasy Guy Ritchie Directing Disney's Aladdin

I've seen worse to be honest.

Someone tell me, have any of these live action remakes been all that good? All of them are inferior to the originals. Especially Beauty and the Beast and Emma Watson's terrible singing voice.

It looks like a snapchat filter, y’all. I don’t think the problem is using Will Smith’s face or the colour or whatever. It’s just that the integration of his face onto the body is so, so bad. It’s literally just the animated genie with Smith’s face lazily super imposed onto it.

Floating head.

Pete's Dragon was much better than the original. The original was a favorite of mine when I was a kid, but it was not a good film.

I thought Jungle Book was damn near perfect and I actually liked it more than the animated film. Cinderella was a nice update to the animated film and well done and the cast was really good.

I think Beauty and the Beast is a bad film. That film is deeply flawed. On a technical level and a storytelling level. Emma's voice is one of the film's lesser issues imo.

Except Pete's Dragon was a remake of a live-action film with an animated dragon. It wasn't really a live-action remake of an animated classic.

Like Maleficent for example was a terrible film.

I forgot about Maleficent. It's got plenty of issues, and isnt even close to Sleeping Beauty in quality.

I also forgot about the Alice in Wonderland films. Both of those films were poorly conceived and like Maleficent dont come close to the original Alice in Wonderland.

Disney's definitely hit or miss with these remakes. Aladdin's looking like a big ol' miss. I'm not too worried about Lion King, because of Favreau.

I think Guy Ritchie can be a bit hit or miss. I love the Sherlock Holmes movies for example, and I think Ritchie's style compliments those stories well. I think Snatch and Lock Stock are both really good British gangster movies. While his style in King Arthur it was just a mess.

At the very least this got a lot of people talking about the movie... the past trailer and promotional pics didn't even crack any big conversation.

I think Will Smith doing the musical numbers will be a big draw for audiences. I'm really curious to hear his take on 'Friend Like Me'

I wonder how Disney will bring Genie Jafar to life. He was scary enough in 2D animation, but live action? Pure nightmare fuel.

I enjoyed The Jungle Book way more than the original.

Cinderella is the only one that I would call better than the original, and that's only because the 1950 movie (as much as I love it) was, like, 80% filler, so there was a lot of room for improvement.

Am I the only one who liked the new Beauty & The Beast? Personally, I didn’t like the new Jungle Book at all.

on reddit a lot are asking why he doesnt look more like in the cartoon.

To the genius who created this manip - I salute you.
this looks like a caucasian head. Will Smith is black. this would be a PR disaster. He even looks more like Robin Williams.

Well the movie grossed more than $1.2 billion so I think it's safe to say that you're not, lol.

Like many other popular movies, the new Beauty and the Beast is only "divisive" on the internet.

I loved the new B&tB. Loved the cast, loved the old songs and even the new ones, and I even enjoyed Emma Watson (was she a perfect Belle? No, but I enjoyed her performance).

Yeah. Felt the same way. Weirdly Emma Watson, to me, just wasn't expressive enough. She acted as Belle... but she moved very wooden.

Which is hard enough because the animators of disney's original B&tB did an excellent job showing the various emotional range that Belle could in theory possess in real life. I dunno… I have a lot mixed feelings with the live-action movies as of late.

I don't expect much from Aladdin or Lion King... after seeing how uncreative but technically impressive the live-action conversion of the same movies have been. I wish Disney stops this.

Might as well hire Ben Kingsley as that what the genie looks like to me.
