So if we are going by 1999 as the end of the Renaissance...that also means Tarzan

It sounds like you barely watched it, so how would you know?It took me all of 5 mins into Beauty and the Beast to become bored, and then there was the awful auto tuned voice for Emma Watson which did nothing but make me fast forward through her songs. Everything about that remake is inferior. An exercise in the mundane.
Couldn't disagree more. I've always viewed Hunchback as one of Disney's most underrated pieces. Daringly dark with gorgeous music and a powerful message. Why would you even want to remake Hunchback of Notre Dame? That was one of Disney's worst animated films. beauty and the beast and even Aladdin I can under$tand. But not Hunchback.

They aren't the strongest part, but I feel to see the difference between any other comic relief Disney characters..And yet...

I just rewatched it recently after not seeing it for a while and I still find it funny that Quasimodo didn't get the girl because let's face it, he's uglyCouldn't disagree more. That's definitely true. Which is why they were cut from the stage show to great effect. I certainly don't think they turn it into "one of Disney's worst", though. The difference is that in Hunchback they really clashed with the tone of the rest of the movie.
BatB was okay, but not great. I felt Watson was miscast as Belle and the lack of creativity was a detriment

I was sort of excited she was in it at first, then I realized she couldn't sing at all. Really should've just given her the Rebecca Ferguson treatment.
I’ll be honest, I was checking my phone more than paying attention. It sounds like you barely watched it, so how would you know?![]()

I am bias, but I think she fit Belle very well and I really enjoy her performance. When people talking about the singing, you'd think she was Brosnan in Mama Mia. They auto tuned her a bit (on higher notes), and she isn't powerful, but her singing is perfectly fine. I say this as one who owns the soundtrack and listens to it plenty.BatB was okay, but not great. I felt Watson was miscast as Belle and the lack of creativity was a detriment
Why did they cast Emma Watson as Belle, especially if she can't sing? It's not as if she's so super beautiful that she immediately screams "Beauty" for the title of the film "Beauty and the Beast". There are surely other beautiful actresses who are singers as well.
I know Lily James and Naomi Scott can both sing.
Her cast went over rather well, as did her performance with the masses. The movie made a killing and she did a rather great job of promoting it. Why Hermione was cast as Belle feels pretty obvious when you consider how big of a success the film was.Why did they cast Emma Watson as Belle, especially if she can't sing?
