Hes a good choice, I've yet to see him in a good movie yet, but a good choice.

It's a term of endearment, like "old boy" even though the dude is young, and...ah, skip it.

No one's suggested Ron Perlman yet? That guy can do anything...

Although I don't know why people are moaning that since Akiva Goldsman is producing the movie, he's gonna ruin it. If he had ruined it, he would've written the screenplay. Producing it just has him getting the financing in order and such.

Now where is our own Lobo to comment on this film being made of him? :o

I don't think it's neccessary to try to find some A-list thespian for this. This thing will be VERY tongue in cheek and ridiculous in its violence and humor.

Hi :). I've been in the other Lobo thread. I love Ritchie as director ti suits his style. Over the top violence and zaniness. I'm guessign Vin Diesel or tThe Rock will get it.

Kevin Durand for Lobo :woot:

Holy **** that's PERFECT!

As someone who's never read a Lobo comic, is he part of DC's Vertigo series or something? I've heard his stories are more "mature" in tone. In other words, should WB be aiming for R instead of PG-13?

regular universe

Just to address the PG13 situation, language won't be an issue as Lobo simply says bastich and derivatives of frag, no actual cursing. As for violence seeing as the 4 bounty hunters he's after are alien, make their blood different color then red and the mpaa will give a PG13 w/o a second thought. Besides, a hard PG13 can have LOADS of violence.

As for the teenage girl I think it will be Kat Dennings in that role.

Well i was just seeing this news about two hrs ago when i got online. Interesting developement here with giving that script we fans who have been following things for months a greenlite, also with the news of guy ritchie for director. Hopefully lobo/deadman actually happen and not just poof out of no where like long rumored stuff lik teen titans, sucide squad, green arrow,etc.....

Though like others have said they are probably going with these more indie guys/lesser know guys to be less risky, and not have to blow 200million dollars on like it would be for flash/aquaman/ww. But hopefully if gl happens and does well we can finally get more of those bigger named guys out their.

We all know why books like Jonah Hex and Lobo are getting the immediate green light. They're fanboy favorites, but they're CULT fanboy favorites, meaning that they can take some liberties and what not and not many people outside of the niche will gripe. Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, etc....those are the rest of WB's heavy hitters, and even media outlets like E! will comment if the casting is wrong or something.

Wow, Kevin Durand is a really good suggestion.

Frankly, I want Andrew Bryniarski cause he is to Lobo, as Ron Perlman to Hellboy or Ryan Reynolds to Deadpool. You can see him in Lobo's Paramilitary Christmas Special on YouTube.

But Durand would definitely be overall more capable.

Ritchie is an interesting choice. His editing and style points certainly help Lobo, but the content is way different. Im excited to see what he'll do.

There's more baggage with Superman as a film franchise. Don't you worry; we'll hear something about Supes by the end of the year. My prediction.

I would imagine so. WB has to start focusing on 2012 and beyond.

2010 is done, 2011 is pretty full and 2012 only has Batman 3.

So Lobo for a late 2011 release or does WB slot it as it's March 2012 release?

Going the Distance 10/8/10
The Prisoners 10/22/10
Due Date 11/5/10
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part One) 11/19/10
Yogi Bear 12/17/10
Life as We Know It 12/22/10

Hong Kong Phooey 1/14/11
The Factory 1/28/11
Bobbie Sue 2/11/11
Sucker Punch 3/25/11
The Hangover 2 5/26/11
Green Lantern 6/17/11
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part Two) 7/15/11
Marvin the Martian 10/7/11
Happy Feet 2 in 3D 11/18/11

I too think this bodes well for SHERLOCK HOLMES more than anything else.

It's an interesting choice, that's for sure.

That said, it's yet another project I'll believe when I see it.

"Mature" in tone is about right. :).

Wow, are they TRYING to kill the genre? I'm sorry but Lobo is ridiculous. Reading the film description it sounds worse than Race To Witch Mountain. Between this and Green Hornet, they are setting back comic films and real characters are going to pay for it down the line.

Considering Lobo is a one note stereotypical badass. I'm sure Ritchie won't have nay problem making the movie. I still want a Martian Manhunter movie though... he is just as obscure though Warner probably thinks the character is too complex...

well there is another thing we have to look at too, yea their is a director attached now for lobo/deadman but easily things could fall apart no film happens and it gets sheleved for awhile. Like it looked like for shazam, and we still have nothing moving forward for green arrow, or loads of other guys that were first mentioned back in that article that johns/wolfman/morrison working on dc slates.

This movie will be the anti-Dark Knight. Comic Book films will become a joke again.
Unless it fails epicly at the box office. Then, Warner/DC loses big time...

well lobo is more a joke character and the point of the film could be that slap stick, cheese.

I gotto say, WB/DC looks like they have finally found their niche with these virtual unknown comic properties. We may not be able to make separate forums for all these films coming out... :wow: I like the strategy. The public doesn't normally associate these films with your everyday run in the mill comicbook/SH films and you don't oversaturate the audience that way.

The direction WB is taking with DC movies is pretty interesting. Marvel is getting a whole bunch of its mainstream superhero properties off the ground, sure, a lot more than DC is (though Green Lantern is a sign of progress), but WB/DC have been quietly building up a diverse selection of comic book properties for development, looking outside the mainstream superhero realm. You had the likes of V For Vendetta and Watchmen, and now The Losers, Jonah Hex, Swamp Thing, Deadman and Lobo are all moving forward.

They're doing Swamp Thing? If they go with the Moore version, that would be pretty kickass. :woot:

Lobo before Flash?

My thoughts exactly--something odd's going on when characters like Lobo instantly get into preproduction and yet they can't take Wonder Woman out of development hell.

well lobo is more a joke character and the point of the film could be that slap stick, cheese.

It that case it has to be marketed as the "Shaun Of The Dead" of superhero movies. Or preferably Spaceballs of Superheroes. I say make the girl 12 or something and have her think Lobo is this super awesome Superhero and Lobo not wanting to make her cry (OH GOD!!! STOP CRYING!! ARRGHHH!!) tries to live up to that....

But I doubt that is what Warner is going for....

That could be fun. Or they could just go completely over the top, ala "Shoot 'Em Up."

And considering the character he's based on--what if they do a parody of X-Men Origins: Wolverine? :woot:

well its not official yet, silver wants and hopes to do another swamp thing but its not 100% on the books yet.
