Halo Reach

Thats kinda the point though. If it was easier to get credits and rank up, the whole idea of earning ranks in the first place would be made completely redundant.

I like the idea of a level cap, as it's just Bungies way of controlling boosters and whatnot, which was redonkulous in Halo 3, also it's lets the slower players get a chance to catch up so they don't get lost behind in the dust trail of credits.

Man, there is a crapton of Lt Colonels that absolutely suck. I played with a bunch last night and I myself had the best K/D ratio out of them all. Either Bungie didn't get alll of the cheaters or these guys just farmed credits until they were blue in the face...

sheesh...

Meanwhile, it takes little old me forever to get beyond Captain....

They're probably just credit farmers. I've found that with heaps of Lt Colonels. You can tell if you look at their commendations and they've got onyx ranks for campaign 'Heavy Weapon' and the multikill one, where they've obviously just redone that ONI level credit farming glitch. I hate that crap. The main reason i'm enjoying Reach so much is purely because of the satisfaction of reaching a high rank, and then the motivation to keep going. If you just glitch that stuff my grinding and credit farming an air strike kill, whats the point of even playing Halo to begin with?

I have found most of the high ranks aren't high skills. My buddy is a major grade 3 and he SUCKS. He just does the challenges as fast as he can everyday and stops playing. I'm a captain grade 3 and I get a better K/D every game

It's more of a longevity system than a ranking system. They keep the skill rankings behind the scenes (which is kind of bogus).

I don't understand the bashing on others who have "boosted."

Here's the thing:

- The ranks in Reach do not matter. Major, Lt. Colonel, whatever, they're merely words, it does not represent skill. So, who cares, really?

- Credit farming isn't cheating, it isn't harming any other person's experience, and it still takes time. Also, it is dreadfully boring. Saying your rank is legit because you didn't "farm" makes no sense. Credits are credits no matter how you receive them.

This is the problem with the game for me. I love the hell out of it, don't get me wrong, but I want a number to show my skill. A legitimate rank, not something I can easily advance by playing campaign over and over.

Bring back the number system Bungie, please?

No, the point is to enjoy the game. It is a game, not a job. To make something ridiculously unobtainable unless you have no life or you will never play another video game is ridiculous. Plus the ranking system doesn't have anything to do with skill. The only thing it has to do with is the amount of time you spend getting credits. There is no point in earning ranks because there is no point in the ranks other than to show time wasted so therefore it is pointless. Oh someone spends one thousand more hours on this game than I do but I just beat the crap out of them in slayer. Wonderful system.

It requires 20 million credits to become inheritor and have full access to everything. As someone above said, that is 333 days of getting 60,000 credits a day. Do you seriously realize how long it would take in one day to get 60k credits? With no farming and all of your accolades maxed out, it would take 12+ hours a day to do that.

There will always be boosters in every game. I have already run into modders and of course credit farming is now everywhere...all to get a title that has nothing to do with skill. Wonderful system!

i have to admit that the only target i go for is a positive Kill Death count...

They need to make Arena actually competitive with a fixed rank. None of this "season" bs. Give me a number, or H3's exp, something.

And yes, -1 would be more satisfying then Lt. Colonel: Grade 2.:o

I agree. It is BS that the most playlists allow crappy guests to be able to play and there are 2 playlists for ranked competition. Halo has always been about skill. This game has turned into a game where people sit for 8 hours a day farming or leave their guy in the corner hidden to get achievements in order to get more credits. Take me back to the Halo 2 days.

Also...no one talks in Reach. Everyone is always in a party chat and no one talks because the game isn't about competition anymore, it is about armor aesthetics.

Yeah, and then once they get it an empty feeling blankets over them.

:csad: (kat's arm)

I don't know about everyone else, but I go into party chat because the Halo world is generally filled with giant, flaming a-holes who want nothing more than to scream into their microphones so you, too, can enjoy their flaming a-holeness. I had one guy yell out that I was adopted. This was soon after I had the pleasure of playing with "10JewzForMyOven." It's too much work to mute them one by one, so party chat it is.

Well I disagree on a number of counts. My experience with multiplayer has been more or less like Halo 3, only I much prefer the levelling up system.

Also, don't forget that the Halo 3 system that we know and love was tweaked and changed constantly. Reach in 1 years time will be very different to reach now.

Also, I really like Arena. We can't judge it as a flawed system until we've actually been through a few seasons and what have you. Have you actually been given a proper ranking through arena? You can get Iron, Bronze etc, right on your nameplate. Theres your skill based ranking. Between that, the main ranking and the fact that you can look at everyones stats individually, I honestly don't get what your problems are.

Also, your arguments seem contradictory. The point is to enjoy the game? So you enjoy playing the same 3 minutes of campaign over and over just to get the same multikill JUST for credits is fun? Personally, i'm enjoying the hell out of playing every playlist, kicking arse and being rewarded for that.

Also, you're ragging on the ranking system, yet justifying a cheap, doggy fightesque way of farming credits, PURELY to get the top rank and exploit the system? I don't understand that reasoning. This is a seriously schizophrenic argument going on here.

i only use party chat because i have a speech disability.... soooooo had enough of ****tards laughing at me if i try and chat with mates....

Because the game isn't tactical anymore. There is no team. Everyone is off on their own doing challenges to try and get more credits so that they can have a rank that means absolutely nothing. Winning or losing means nothing in this game. The only reason people get pissed off if they lose is that they don't get the bonus credits for winning and people boot people left and right for the hell of it because it doesn't affect anything.

I love this game but the more I play it, the more I realize how broken it is.

I make fun of people that say ridiculously idiotic things. If a little kid is yelling how he is going to rape me, he is going to get made fun of.

You need to play PWN3R and myself because he sucks. Send a friend request to CHONCH BAG.

And Halo 3 ranking was merely numbers. Since they're both patterns based on cumulative and consecutively ordered titles, what is really the difference?

Yeah, I got a stutter that I've had for a minute now, but it only comes out when I'm frustrated. And over Live, that is often.

Nobody plays it. Nobody wants to start over in 6 weeks or when the season ends. Nobody develops a true rank when it takes your best 3 games. It needs to go back to the former system in which most of the playlists are skill based and there are a few fun playlists for non skill based events.

I don't credit farm for fun, I credit farm to rank up with a system that is 100% pointless. Yes that is contradictory but everyone does it. Plus you get some cool stuff for doing it that would have otherwise taken 2 months. I don't really know what Bungie was thinking when they thought out making a player possibly play 2 full years to get the highest rank when they didn't realize the future existence of credit farming. Matchmaking isn't fun anymore when everyone is trying to do daily challenges and don't care if we lose the match. If tomorrow they throw up a challenge that says get 20 assassinations in matchmaking, you will see everyone running around like idiots trying to get assassinations.

The crappy ranking system led to the credit farming. You have fun not doing it and we will see you at Lt. Colonel next year.:cwink:

In H3, you at least had to win.

In Arena, it looks at individual stats, thus tempting the lone wolves to come out of their hidey holes and be ****** teammates.

You can have a spread of +9 and lose the game, and be considered better than the player who went only +4 yet won the game.

Stupid ratings are stupid.

Again though, that doesn't make sense. Its not flawed that it would take 2 years to hit the top rank, thats purely to keep people playing with an aim in sight for the next 2 years.

Also, I'm sorry, but don't try and say the system is so flawed that it's 'driven you' to credit farming. I've managed to hit Lt Colonel without credit farming or anything, and I haven't been playing it everyday. I only really play it on weekends anyway, when my friend is around. I've also encountered many other people who've leveled up with no problems without credit farming. Just admit that your frustration is partially, if not mainly, due to your own impatience.

Also, the whole 'don't need to win' thing is hardly a game breaker. If experience and credits has made it all about doing the best individually, and everyone has that attitude to do their best to earn the most credits, then wouldnt the team win anyway?

Also, lets say hypothetically you could rank to max class immediately. Lets say you've done that, and bought everything. Whats left for you to do? Play the freaking game! And if thats what you want to do, and you enjoy playing the game, why can't you just PLAY the game, the way it's intended, and let yourself progress naturally? I've done it and enjoyed it, I know many others who have too. Why can't you just accept it as it is?

I see what you mean, especially with the booting. I had a guy last night who was actively trying to get in my line of sight so I would kill him. He was running back and forth in front of me while I was trying to snipe. People never cease to amaze me.

But is that really so frustrating? I've had so many games in Halo 3 where i've team carried everyone, with like a 30 and everyone else is in single digits, and then lost the game thus making my awesome effort void. Why shouldn't players be rewarded individually? Besides, it's not like that was any different in Halo 3. Sure the team win/loss affected the rank, but at the end of the day the rank was still individual.

I do think a Team Ranking in Arena would be cool though. I always play Arena with the same 3 people, or doubles with the same friend, so it'd be cool to make your own team name and have that team level up as a unit.

The new betrayal system has been a help though. I didn't think they'd put it in yet, but earlier tonight I got betrayed 3 times before it gave me the option to boot, and I betrayed one guy once accidentally in rocket fight, and he started cussing me and say he was gonna boot me then didn't, presumably because he couldn't.

Nobody is going to play the game for 2 years everyday. That is ridiculous. You should want to come back to the game because it is fun and it is an amazing game, not because you want to be an Inheritor.

A ton of people continued to play Halo 2 and Halo 3 not because they needed credits, but because they were fun games. Once again, I guess you are with Cliffy B in thinking it was a great idea to make an achievement where you had to play the campaign 50 times. Such brilliant ideas.

You have not hit Lt. Colonel without credit farming. I call BS on that one...unless you play 8-12 hours a day. Less than 1% of people who play Reach, according to Bungie, are a Lt. Colonel.

So if the gameplay is only about the individual...why are their team based playlists? What is the point of bomb the base when it doesn't matter if you win or lose?
