Am i the only one to gets a sellout feel when i see Jett patting Miranda Fox on the back for scoops there?
...I would, however, be okay with a simple nod to the character, such as having Joker's attending at Arkham be Dr. Harleen Quinzell (a la Curt Connors in the SM films), but never make her into Harley...
I don't dislike Harley, but I don't know if she should be in this movie. Maybe under her Quinzel name at the end or something. Like, after the credits, have her walk down the hallway whistling the B:TAS Joker theme, walking into a room with a straitjacketed Joker, and she got a look of plesant suprise and says "Well, Helloooo, Puddin!"
Though IMHO she's more of an aloof character... not rly main as the Joker or Two-Face. So I'd personally find it acceptable [and preferable] if she could be adapted to the so-called 'Nolan-verse'. Picture a cute [blonde?] psychology intern in Arkham... very clever yet very aloof. Something between Jody Foster in Contact and Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde. Who then goes completely insane for loving the Joker and doing things she knows they're wrong... her appearance becomes that of a junkie rather than the smart stylish person she was before, her face being creepy over the numerous FAILED attempts to make up and look like Mistah J... who uses and more importantly abuses her [coz he's a psycopathic demented twisted freak]. Probably near the end the director could play it as she doesn't know what's right from wrong and though wanting to be the anti-hero... ends up being the villain. Sure I could eat up her looking like a jester... but not as well-dressed as Harley is at the comics and BTAS, if u get my pointt:
P.S: [not exactly as the all dressed up harlequin-like harley, rather a pretty cute yet slightly aloof Arkham intern (who the hell would take an internship in Arkham anyway? bah... who cares) who goes insane over her love with the sadist Joker who uses her in the worst possible ways as an extra tool to get his way. maybe just throw a touch of psychotic wanna-look-like-mistah-j make up too. oh... plz lose 'puddin']
yes exactly what i'm thinking. She was pretty serious in Mad Love the comic. She can be done serious - just tone down the camp - play in the homicidal insanity. The love for the Joker should be obvious though.
hmm, so its from Miranda. so there is more stock to this news than wishful thinking.BOF said it was Miranda who told him so I'd put money on it.
i have to question what got Miranda to post there and leave here, specially i remember reading her posts that she does lurk and submit news there but feels more at home here (or something like that). call me paranoid, but i got the nasty feeling that Jett or a BOFer read that and gave her an enticing offer to post there. now she's gone and the scoops are breaking over there.Am i the only one to gets a sellout feel when i see Jett patting Miranda Fox on the back for scoops there?
i wouldnt be surprised if she nabbed the role already, specially if its just a small part and she's readily available.i'd get a chuckle if michelle williams got a good word in for it

It's not really "from" Miranda. She just linked to the site that posted it. It originaly came from comicbookresources.com
Except Jett doens't like spoilers, so she's not posting too many scoops over there.
Harleen Quinzel is her real name, the it changed to Harley Quinn because a HarleQuinn mean "a comic servant" in ancient times (like a court jester). Hence, the name. Der!

God, I hope not. I'm going to take this with a few grains of salt, though. That so-called "last line" sounds way too lame for a Nolan film. But you never know, Warner Bros. and their infinite supply of stupidity could fit it in there.

No, I know that![]()
It's just... Harleen Quinzel I find it a bit dubious, too obvious derivative from harlequin. Harley Quinn is perfect coz it's a nickname [in the end... same as 'The Joker'] which fits perfectly with her obsession over Mistah J. But her real name Harleen Quinzel is out of line, poor character-making IMO.
If they put Harley in any of the Nolan-verse films, it would be cool if they didn't even give her a name. At all. I.e the Joker calls her just Dr. and everyone else in Arkham seems to just ignore her [bah just another intern, we got better things to do than bother with her]... this could be played as a good factor for her flipping out. When she does flip out then she's Harley Quinn, forget the old name [which we as an audience know but it's never said in the film]... just like... puddin![]()
On a semi-unrelated note. It never ceases to amaze me about how most peoples outlooks here are towards actors of the opposite sex. Most of the men base whether or not they'll like the women in a movie on how the look. It may not be the only thing they look at in a female actor, but it is almost always the top thing they look at.
Anyways, I think that if done right Harley Quinn would be an excellent addition to the movie.

The lack of love for Rachel McAdams on this board is disturbing..

i hope not. i can't stand the character. very resistant to a character made up for a kid's animated series and then integrated into the comic canon. very un-Jokerish to me.I was watching Attack of the Show and they mentioned a rumor about Harley appearing in TDK. I was pretty sure they sited http://www.comicbookresources.com
as the source but I can't find anything on there.
Did anyone else see this and knows where the original article is?
I don't even remember what they said exactly. The article seemed to indicate it would be Dr. Harley, not sidekick Harley in some way interacting with Joker.
i'm with you. it would be as if Nolan were channeling Shoemaker.I swear to God, if I see Harley on the screen, I'll walk out of the damned movie
If Nolan has Harley in his films, she needs to be done well.
In TDK she should be referred to only as "Dr. Quinn". She should be young, insecure and timid. I'd suggest giving her a similiar role to Crane in TDK. Have her giving evidence about people psychological stability at cases being overseen by Dent and Dawes, like Crane did in BB, and doing psychological tests on captured villains like Crane was supposed to give Falcone. This would all mean that she wouldn't steal much screentime and would serve a purpose in TDK.
Have her being disrespected because of her age. Show some male lawyer's being sexist coming out of court, show some female colleagues telling her she isn't 'strong' enough or 'smart' enough to do her job, etc. Have her colleagues openly bash her to her face - NO ONE should be nice to her.
Then, at the end of TDK she is placed on order's to peform a psychological analysis of The Joker. Have them openly say that they don't think she can handle it, and that they hope that this will be the thing to break her. Then, have her enter The Joker's cell block crying, and showing signs of weakness to him. Then have the Joker remain in the shadows, responding to each of her questions about him with questions about her. Then have him tell a cruel/brutal joke about her colleagues, and she starts to chuckle/smile.
Then have The Joker emerge from the shadows, a look of pure innocence on his face and say, "Nothing would give me more honour than to defend yours. Believe me, it's this glass that prevents me from doing, otherwise their blood would be sprayed on these walls. You deserve better". At this, Quinn promptly gets up, shocked, leaves but runs into the head doctor on her way out. He reads over the notes that she has just taken on The Joker and finds that she has written shocking things about what The Joker wants to do to them in a manner that makes it seem like it's coming from her. She doesn't understand why she wrote, nor does she remember when. Then have them tell her that she is to clean out her desk and be off the premises within the next 15 or else they intend to call the police. They leave her, and she appears errartic, and on the verge of insanity. She runs, picks up the metal chair she was sitting on and starts slamming it into the glass of The Joker cell, which cracks and breaks in several places. An alarm sounds, and security starts rushing, as do the doctors.
A white hands smashes through the remaining glass, and grabs Quinn around the neck. She screams, horrified. The Joker then grabs her wrists and literally drags her down the hallway, kicking and screaming. This is the last that we see of the two for TDK, save for the remenants of their escape.
Then, in BB3 we see what has become of Quinn. The authorities have her listed a missing person, and Batman is concerned as to what may have come of her after being in The Joker's hands. When we first see her, The Joker grandly announces "I suppose you remember Dr. Quinn? She's dead now! However, I would like you introduce my newest companion, my Harley-quinn!"
Here we see the doctor emerge from behind him. She has had a grim smile carved into her face by The Joker and he makes her wear a variety of macabre clown-ish costumes. She is constantly of the verge of tears and cowers whenever The Joker nears her, but she is incredibly protective of him and eager to please him in whatever way she can. She is prone to violent outbursts and switches in personalities, she is hysterical at times, bubbly at others and deadly gruesome at others. She is The Joker's puppet.
And there you go, a Nolan-ised version of Harley Quinn.
Dude, don't get me startedi'm with you. it would be as if Nolan were channeling Shoemaker.
