Harry using Original Green Goblin Costume?

Harry is in a downward chaotic spiral too. He's always wanted to please his father. He always wanted his father's approval. He feels like a failure. Everything he's tried to do hasn't been able to match what his dad did. He wasn't as good in school, he couldn't run Oscorp as well as his father, he wasn't the genius he thought his father was.

Harry isn't focus and calculated, he's begging for a dead father's attention, which is the exact reason why he would wear his father's costume. But he doesn't just want to be as good as his father, he wants to be more, which is why I think he would update the costume. (Which would have been perfect to introduce the original design we could have had for the GG costume, which was flat out awesome, but they had to dumb down quite a bit because of $$ reasons)

Harry doesn't just want to kill Peter, he wants to fufill his father's legacy, and the Goblin is his father's legacy. Putting on the Goblin costume isn't just putting on protective wear to battle Peter, it's Harry believing his continuing what he thinks his father would have wanted him to do. That's why Harry should wear a Goblin costume, and it's really not in his character not to wear one.

....we know Harry thinks Peter killed his father. That's why he puts together a battle suit, that isn't a goblin costume, which I think isn't in character.

I know he's not going to wear it. I never stated once in my post that he would wear it. I simply stated that he should. My other post was in reply to you saying that you thought Harry did not blame Peter for his father's death, and we know that he does, and that he does at one point in time in SM3 try to kill Peter.

Well to each his own I suppose. I was just dissapointed, I saw the concept art for GG1, and that suit looked so awesome that I just really wanted to see it translated to screen. (They did a very dumbed down version of it for GG1, but it wasn't even close to how cool to the concept art looked) I was just really hoping we'd see Harry wear a suit like that, because it would have been a truly awesome translation of the Goblin outfit to the silver screen.

He tried involve himself in science and try to find the next "big thing" in scientific inventions, hence why he sought out Otto. He couldn't invent things like his father, but he was still trying to do for Oscorp what his father did. He tried to make Oscorp a successfull buisness, as his father did, he tried to become a sucessfull buisnessman, as his father did, and now he's trying to kill Spider-man, as his father did. For a guy who doesn't want to follow in his dad's footsteps, he sure seems to be doing so.

Harry veiws everything his father has done as the goal he wants to meet, and even rise above.

Now, yes, Norman wore the GG suit because he was nuts. Harry isn't as nuts, but he does have some problems. Seeing your dead father in a mirror definatley isn't normal. But the reason he sees his father in the Mirror is because all his life he's wanted to gain his father's approval. That's why Harry would wear the Goblin costume, and that's why he tries to kill Spider-man. Not simply for revenge, but in his own messed up mind, Harry thinks his father wants him to carry on what his father started.

But, when Harry puts on the Goblin costume, it's not because he's going to go out and kill random people. No, he's not reliving that part of the Goblin legacy, Harry's Goblin is exclusivley the battle between Goblin and Spider. That's why he puts on the costume, because Norman Osborn never had a problem with Spider-man. The Green Goblin fought Spider-man, and to follow in that particular area of his father's legacy, he must become the Goblin to battle Spider-man.

That's the way it was in the comics, and that's just the way I think it should have been in the movie. It obviously won't be, because we know that Harry probably won't wear the suit (again, as I've said, a terrible miss on a treat for us, because that concept art for the GG suit would have been amazing to see on screen) but it's just what I think should have happened.

You really have to put yourself in Jameson and Harry shoes, Jonah had to make up a name for every vigalante that comes by so he called it the "Night Surfer". And Harry is a millionare so he will get whatever he wants to be srong to fight,he has a lighter stronger suit, a sword which is good it make the battles more intense, wrist blade on his right forarm, cool retractable mask that alows him to speak, he still has the grenades and the razor bats, and he has a cool looking like a glider and a snowboard that allows him to switch positions. Sam is just combining comics and reality thats why Im glad Sam Ramai directed these brilliant Spiderman movies.

Sam Rami is not combining comics and reality. At no point were the Spider-man movies ever realistic. What Sam Rami is doing is making a semi faithfull adaptation of the Spider-man comics, and adding some of his own ideas to the mix. Some good, and some definatley not so good.

Like I said in another thread, harry will be trying to follow in his fathers footsteps until his next job to complete is kill peter parker but why doesn't harry go after peter after he gets knocked out? he looses his memory causing him to forget things but when he does remember everything mj convinces him to help peter.

peter tried to talk to norman but he tricked peter and tried to kill him, now did harry ever do that? no which proves his father was a much worse person than he is and afterall it's peter that goes after harry in their second fight. I don't even think harry wants to fight peter.

sure harry has phsycotic problems but if he did wear the Green Goblin costume then it sure wouldn't make alot of sense. harry probably didn't want to mess with Normans Green Goblin suit because he though it was his fathers precsious thing.


the point I'm trying to make is that if harry just goes to kill peter because his father told him to then it's just a demand, not a choice. harry does want revenge on peter for supposedley killing his father but what harry must realize is that his father is the evil person....not peter.

^If only they would of had Harry use the same glider as his dad's,and gave him a rectractable new Goblin mask,then it would of been pretty cool.They really screwed up on the glider,and on the mask for poor Harry.
