The Dark Knight Harvey Dent/Two Face Thread

I agree. I know when I see people with anytime of physical deformity I just try to act like I notice no difference. I doubt anyone with any decency would start flipping out haha.

I thought Dean played the scene very well. Actually the only thing that somewhat bothered me was Dent's "Hello."

That part, to me, sounded like it would make sense in context.

I agree with rest

I guess. To me, it just sounded like it was taken from his viral campaign call, and I was expecting his voice to sound differently. Its not bad though, and I don't dislike it, just the weakest part of the scene IMO.

I have a good feeling Two Face wont have the split personality at all to be honest.

Which if your a bat fan, would really ef'ing blow :(

I wonder, how plausible would it be for a man to completely snap with a disfigurement. I would think he'd have to be harboring some very strong feelings for quite a while prior to the disfigurement. Now I would think that this would be something similar to the "Big Bad Harv" persona from BTAS, which seems to have Two-Face fans divided. My question is: Wouldn't harboring such dark feelings but keeping them smothered under altruism and his "Golden Boy" image make such a transformation more tragic than him just outright going crazy? You know, like the acid eats away that altruism and nobility that Dent burried his darker feelings with.

This again comes down to the city this takes place in. The environment is what makes Batman and his twisted life. Gotham is full of freaks, serial killers, rapists etc etc ESPECIALLY after all of Arkham has been let out in that society.

Dent and Batman work incredibly hard to get crime off the streets and rid the town of the scum that inhabit it. To see all of your work just flush right down the drain, as well as be subjected to villains like the Joker, various threats by the mob, personally burnt and scarred permanently to the point there's no way plastic surgery could ever fix you...Might make you snap.

Harvey will be living long enough to see him become the bad guy. Simply because he doesn't think the rules Gordon and Batman go by work. So he goes much farther than Bats.

There's a marked difference between the Harvey/Two-Face of BTAS, and that of TLH and DV.

Understand this, and you'll see what Norman means.

There is a big difference. And while I suppose BTAS is "cannon" I actually enjoy the comic book version of the character, especially from TLH and DV, more.

My exact thinking as well. BTAS Two Face was excellent, but TLH and DV were very captivating as far of the tragedy that is Harvey Dent. There are big difference's in all characters through out time, but to say that Two Face in TLH doesn't act as much of a split schizo is ok, its presence is felt and is more eerie yet relative in TLH and DV.

Ah, I seem to remember interviews where Nolan suggests Harvey will show some strange behavior lurking behind his character throughout the movie. Where something will feel a little bit off about him. Also, I think the line in trailer 3 was very telling; "You either die the hero, or live long enough to become the villian". Then it cuts to Bruce with a perplexed look on his face like he could'nt believe Harvey just said that. Seems pretty fishy for an otherwise always optimistic politician to say don't you think?

Seems like a slip of his lurking psychotic side.

Seeing that scene with Two-Face has made me crap a brick.

Dent: Hey Rachel, I just pulled this from your ear.
Rachel: Wow. Let's go make out.

Sorry, I know, not the right thread. Couldn't help myself. Although it is a nice pic, and I'm glad that at least he has the coin before his scarring. Hopefully it's got some deep significance within the story. Like say, from his abusive/neglectful/etc. Father.

If you see an amputee or a burn victim do you try to hide your reaction?

No. I find that rude, and I've found they find it awkward when people pretend there's nothing different about them right off the bat. It's human nature to react. I simply react, and then I go on treating them as a normal person.

To me its clearly a case of the cop trying to stay composed while being horrified beneath. I thought it was played pretty damn well.

I just don't think it's terribly impressive in context. They're playing it off almost as a "thriller/horror" shot, and the guy doesn't look scared, he doesn't look all that surprised, he just looks like he's looking up at Harvey. It's just a little underplayed.

I personally thought the cop did an awesome job, Eckhart's voice is the only thing that is bothering me
