Again, terrifying. Sean Bean in drag... no thank you. Kit Harrington in drag... lemme think about it.

I was reading a comprehensive list of all the changes, all the little extra scenes and bits of dialogue the TV series has made to the books (only got to somewhere past the beginning of season 2) and there are lot of really great improvements. I'm reading the books at the moment and I kind of want to edit some bits of dialogue which have been improved. Shows someone is reading these with an eagle eye for detail and really looking to improve on it as they convert it to TV rather than just rely solely on the greatness of the source material. That kind of thing should be enough to put the TV show roughly on par with the books when you consider the great stuff in the books that won't be able to get translated across.

Agreed. Examples of this are:
1)Robert and Cersei discussing the Dothraki ("One army, a real army!")
2) Ned's words about dying ( "I grew up with soldiers. I learned how to die a long time ago)
3) The whole Edric Storm/Gendry stuff last season.
4) Absolutely every scene containing Varys/Baelish.
5) The whole Ramsay/Reek/Hornwood/Manderlyfrom aCok. Don't missunderstand me, it was awesome in the books. But it wouldn't have fit in the series IMO.
7) Robb's "tell Lord Tywin winter is coming for him" and all his lines in that episode were excellent (specially considering that GRRM himself wrote that episode)
6) Also the introduction of the Starks in the first chapter was perfect.

In contrast, some changes were not for good IMO:
1) Dany's arc in season 2 was awful. (Then again, the book part was also bad, except for the Undying prophecies)
2) Jon's arc also in Season 2 was rather weak. Specially how he "grew" during his quest with Qhorin. Qhorin's final word (which is also changed) is essential to Jon's story, because it shows how he has "sharpen up" in order to do what's necessary. That single line made Qhorin a favorite among my friends. Although maybe i'm just being nitpick with the last part.
3) One thing that really bugged me was the avoiding of [BLACKOUT]Robb naiming Jon his heir and legitimazing him. i honestly thought that was going to be played in the first scene of "The Rains of Castamere" chapter with Robb and Cat.[/BLACKOUT]

Okay i'm done for now. Sorry for my english

Thanks for that. Don't worry, your English is good.

Yes I liked those words from Ned about knowing how to die & Varys' counter to it. And Varys & Baelish are 2 of my favourite characters, really love their exchanges.

The whole Robb/Jon thing bothers me alot.

Awesome! :D

That's a good promo and makes me want to jump in my car and drive down to best buy. But it doesn't get across how 'earned' the Red Wedding is.

It's a damn thirty second promo, how would you suggest they get that across?

Awesome promo. Just awesome.

I hate the promo. It spoils the Red Wedding if you haven't seen it.

That's what I was thinking. It wouldn't be anywhere near the same even if you just knew something big was going to happen and not quite sure what. Much better to just be watching a feast and things suddenly and shockingly escalate.

It's been almost a year since the Red Wedding. Anyone familiar enough with the show to consider themselves a viewer, even if they don't have HBO or didn't keep up with last season, will know what the deal is. That **** was everywhere in the media when it happened. Anyone unfamiliar with the show, who sees that commercial and thinks "Huh... Maybe I'll check it out" is probably going to be too disoriented by the **** they'll see by rewatching the first two seasons that they'll more or less forget what they saw in the commercial by the time they actually get to the Red Wedding.

I see no downside. Play that **** up if you can.

With all the red wedding promotion, the cover for season 3 really should have been the King of the North, instead of that generic dragon shadow with 3 swords.

Double post - was trying to edit

You make a good point. I just don't really like how that event is made out to be one of the best things about GoT. It'll likely work as a marketing tool though

They really have no shortage of imagery that would've made for a better cover than the one we're getting. That **** is just lazy.

Someone actually sat down and designed that & were paid to do so. And someone else approved it and were also paid to do so. Bit worrying really.

There are people who don't know about it. They may know bad **** happened, but not specifics. They shouldn't have shown any scene from it regardless, especially Cat screaming. I hate when trailers or teasers show a lot. Just showing people's reactions would have been enough.

I knew the moment I saw the poster art for S3 and that it was also the tie-in cover for Storm of Swords, that this would be what we were getting for the DVD/Blu-ray. And I could not have been more disappointed. I'm praying we get the S4 poster soon and that it's significantly better than last season.

I definitely did not know anything about it! :csad:

I LOVE the blu-ray boxes and all the pictures on the fold out covers for seasons 1 & 2 . This is really going to piss me off when it arrives. Like you said earlier, it's not like they don't have tonnes of potential material to draw on for cover ideas.

Can't wait to watch the three seasons back over before the fourth premieres. Still unsure if I can actually rewatch the red wedding but I'll try my best. I was in the midst of watching through Breaking Bad when it happened and I just stopped watching BB for about a fortnight cos I was mourning. I literally didn't have it in me. If I can convince my girlfriend to watch it with me, I think it'll be worth it for that alone.

My brother and mother did not know about it. I watched the entire episode with real anxiety leading up. The family was not happy.

There isn't really anything in that promo that spoils a thing for someone who hasn't seen the show . None of the men in the hall getting attacked look like Stark men, and they aren't called stark men. It's chaos and quick cuts. And the bit of Cat screaming is up close and you can't even tell she's in the same hall or the same scene. Someone who's never seen the show won't be able to make heads or tails out a that clippy promo. And someone who hasn't seen the show is unlikely to see that promo. Their only chance of seeing it would be on tv during a commercial break and most people don't pay attention to commercials so they are likely to miss it and if they haven't already checked out the show they are likely to dismiss that promo as soon as it's over. This isn't really an issue. HBO was wise to use the biggest event to market the bluray.

And really it's been almost a year since that episode. It's no longer HBO's prerogative to shield potential new viewers from spoilers.
