HBO's Game of Thrones - - - Part 12

Some of the Ned chapters are a lot more interesting than what we saw on the show, if only because of the backstory it alludes to.

Yea they have been stellar so far. I don't remember if they ever really mentioned Ned's brother in the show. I had no idea Catelyn was set to marry him. Speaking of which, I am not really liking Catelyn so far. She's a lot more cruel to Jon in the book it seems. I'm really digging it though but it's kinda like Reek said, it's a bit hard to keep with for me cuz it's all just so damn familiar. First time I've ever read a book with knowing so much about what happens. When the Harry Potter movies were still coming out I just went ahead and skipped the first 4 books since I'd seen them. Kinda sucked though cuz there was a ton of stuff I didn't really get at first. I'm liking this though because the POVs are providing a ton of insight into the characters that just doesn't come through on the show

I'm surprised Vincent Regan hasn't been cast in role on the show yet.

Regan is the go to guy for period fantasy stuff (300, Troy, Clash Of The Titans, Empire)

Regan is the ****ing man! Him and Sean Bean are doing a movie together soon!

Yeah, as with a lot of the tv versions, they've tried to tone down some of the more unlikeable traits, such as Cat's utter disdain and hatred for Jon (though it was touched upon) or Tyrion's more....wicked ways. But come book 2 I think you'll like it a lot more. That's when the real change in details comes in, certain scenes are expanded way more. The opening with the Maester on Dragonstone is a lot more powerful in the books for instance.

Vincent Regan would fit right in with the Night's Watch.

What about that one guy that narrated 300?? He was Hugh Jackman's sidekick in Van Helsing, can never remember his name but he's actually damn good. He'd fit in perfectly

Hell I dunno. Been years since I saw 300.

Edit: Yea it was him. Totally never noticed that was him in LOTR. His name is David Wenham He'd be great on GoT

I always pictured Edmure Tully as him when I read the books before season 3.

I kinda wished he was the one they recast as Daario.

Hmmm, I'm almost done with book one myself. Can't say I ever read into his relationship with his brother as jealousy, though. Seemed more like he genuinely admired him to me.

"Brandon. Yes. Brandon would know what to do. He always did. It was all meant for Brandon. You, Winterfell, everything. He was born to be a King's Hand and a father of queens. I never asked for this cup to pass to me."

That sounds a lot like jealousy to me :oldrazz:

Yea I just read that bit last nite. Sounded a bit like jealousy to me too. Or more like Ned just didn't want all the responsibility that was thrust on him after Brandon died

That's not jealousy. Ned is being melancholy because Brandon is dead; he doesn't feel that he's adequate to be the Hand of the King, or even Lord of Winterfell to an extent, because he was only the second son and never received the education for a future lord. If the rebellion had not started, he probably would have become the castellan of Storm's End.
