No way in hell.

I see them removing some of the Sand Snakes, but not the three Greyjoy brothers.

i agree.

part of what defines Victarion is his hatred towards Euron and his lust for revenge.

Rory McCaan on Arya and The Hound : "we are on a mad road trip, it's like scooby doo and scrappy doo, and we're gonna leave a trail of blood behind us" :woot::woot::woot:

Do you guys see them cutting the ironborn, or possibly rolling Victarion and Euron into one character?

Um, **** no. That'd be the same as merging Stannis and Renly or Bran and Rickon. I can see Aeron being cut [blackout]since he just vanishes[/blackout], but Victarion and Euron are essential for what goes on in the Iron Islands.

My father quit in season 2 cause he couldnt keep up with who was who and he was bored. Im trying to get him to pick it back up. I told him season 2 was a low point but it got much better.

Dany was his biggest problem. The ending of season 1 made him think she was gonna kick ass in season 2. He's used to standard television stuff. Then in season 2 she was whining and helpless and he just got tired of it. The lack of battles didnt help either. So he quit before he got to The Blackwater episode.

lol i remember in april last year I made my father watch the show, and even BEFORE the prologue ended he just got up and walked away, saying "nonono enough with the zombies and magical s****" . after 3 or 4 weeks i made him watch it again bby replying that the zombies do not appear for another 20 episodes lol.

after that he just loved it. i remember when Ned rejected Renly's offer this was the exact dialogue:

Dad: " well, it appears Stark is going to die soon"
Me: " why you say so?"
Dad: "because it's the middle ages, he needs to die in order for things to explode, and also he is the actor of Lord of the Rings and James Bond, he will die eventually"

i gotta add that he loves everything History oriented, so every once in a while he was saying "ah maybe the author got this inspired by such event in history, etc etc" (an example of this is the whole similiarities with the books "The Accursed Kings" by Maurice Druon, which my father is a fan, and also Martin himself stated that "The Iron King-the first book- is the original Game of Thrones)

anyway, sory for the long post and the offtopic. just some fun memories :woot:

and sorry for any grammar mistake.

Good call about Sean Bean :funny:

There's a theory floating around that Ramsay only cut off his penis and left his testicles to torment him even more. I'm not sure if I believe it, but he still tends to think about women in ADWD, though in that same book Grey Worm points out "They may not have a man's parts but they have a man's heart."

Loved the detail on the Golden Hand.

I like season 2 more then the vast majority of television. But compared to season 3 and especially season 1, it is very underwhelming. The excellence of Blackwater almost completely makes up for it. Blackwater, Tyrion/Bronn, Theon's reaction to the horn, and Arya's interaction with Tywin and Jaqen.

Season 2 is a trade-off for me. While Ned is gone, Jon Snow's story screeches to a halt, and Dany who was amazing in Season 1 becomes annoyingly dull and irritating in Season 2 (but becomes awesome again in Season 3!), it did feature several things that it did better than other two seasons:

1. Tyrion was at his wittiest and most awesome. Give the Half-Man power and bask in TV greatness.
2. Arya's storyline (as truncated as it was for the show), was at its peak with the "Arry" and Harrenhall stuff, and all the assassinations.
3. Charles Dance was allowed to start killing it (heh) as Tywin.
4. Joffrey was at his most hatable (and thus entertaining).
5. Blackwater

And for those that like Stannis, he also didn't come off like a complete fool in Season 2, as he did in Season 3. While Season 3 is still easily the best so far, I feel like the second is worth regarding well.

I agree on most of your points, but there is so much more to the show. So many characters and storyline, and well season 2 and to a lesser extent season 3 level a lot of characters and thus the story out in the wilderness. Season 3 almost always pulls it back, though season 2 doesn't.

Season 1 for me is by far the best. It is the most well constructed in terms of the overall season and individual episodes, as they got the most out of each episode, while keeping the narrative tight.

George R.R. Martin says Game of Thrones movies are being actively discussed

Im beginning to think Martin doesnt have an actual clue what's going on with this show. He still thinks the show has a chance of going beyond 8 seasons because his books get bigger. News flash Martin: the series is set for 7-8 seasons regardless of your book's length. And now he thinks HBO would bankroll a $100 million dollar theatrical movie? Highly unlikely. Now, goddamnit George, focus on finishing the books!

He is starting to seem delusional about this whole endeavor.

I kind of expected this. It is finally dawning on him that the show is going to finish...probably before we ever get the sixth book. They certainly are going to pass him in Season 6. I expect him to get a little less enthusiastic about the show as that approaches.

Have you read some of his recent comments about the next 3 seasons being constructed of AFFC and ADWD? It flies right in the face of everything the showrunners have said about the length of the television series and how the last half of the series will be constructed. It would also result in some of the worst television I could imagine.

He is either attempting to convince them of this ridiculousness, or he truly has no grasp of how real the possibility is that the end of season 5 will be where we will first see TWOW.

I think what helps Season 1 the most is how relatable Ned is. While most characters are great, he's really, imo, the one you want to follow, and there isn't really another one like him in other seasons (even if Tyrion is awesome).

I liked Ned until he arrived at King's Landing.

I don't think I ever liked Ned.

I don't think I ever liked Catelyn and Robb either.

Seriously, ever decision they made was irrational and crass, and led to the fall of Winterfell and the current state of the surviving Starks.

Ned could've had every Lannister killed by now, but ya know. Honor.

Catelyn had the balls to start accusing Lannisters of attempted murder and started capturing them, pissing off Cersei and Tywin.

And Robb, like the jackass he is, spreads the news that Jamie and Cersei are having an incestuous relationship. Not inherently bad, but it pissed off Tywin. And because of that, his sister was forced to marry Tyrion.

And let's not forget! Robb sending Theon to the Iron Islands, and then breaking his marriage vows!

That turned out well for everyone, didn't it?.

first of all. Robb didn't spread the news of Jaime and Cersei. that was Stannis 's doing. and i believe it was a good idea, because it shattered the people's view of the Lannister. in fact, this is what Ned SHOULD have done IMO.

second, that is not the reason that Sansa was forced to marry Tyrion. Tywin came with that match because he was certain that his plan to kill of Robb would succeed, and therefore Sansa would be the heir of the North. also he arranged the marriage because he found out that the Tyrells were aiming at it as well, so he prefered to match her to Tyrion, suffocating Tyrell's plans of annexing the North.

i agree on sending Theon to Pyke. that was foolish, although not that much foolish. he was the friend of the Heir to the Iron Islands, he had no idea to know that the Balon was bat**** crazy about the Starks. i would add that Robb was wrong in the manner he addressed Balon. instead of saying that he would let him be the King of the Iron Islands, he should have stated somehting like "help me and i will join forces to separate the Iron Islands from the 7 Kingdoms, and we will storm Casterly Rock and give it to you" or something like that.

George's first line for The Winds of Winter have been revealed:

This. Tywin saw what the Tyrells were trying to do. Having Sansa marry Willas (book)/Loras (show), it allowed them to have a foot in both sides of the war. If Robb won, they would have been able to use Sansa to be on peaceful terms with the new Kingdom of the North. Tywin nipped this in the bud since it forced them to commit themselves to the Lannister's cause and allowed them to have a Lannister one day rule the North as well as keep Tyrion away from the South.

How can you not like someone for being honourable and trying to do what's right?

Naive yes, but that doesn't mean unlikeable. I hate this attitude that if someone isn't as cut throat as the rest then they somehow deserve to be ****ed over.

I dont like him either. He made dumb decisions in the face of good council for the sake of honor and lit a match over an open powder keg that led to a war that killed thousands. He was an honorable fool. The picture below sums it up:
