I still think we will see 80 episodes, even if that means a split season 7.

Agreed. D&D planned the series as 80 hours. Unless there is a sudden viewer drop off I expect us to get 80 hours.

I want 81 hours, because **** your absolutes! :argh:

And I think that is a good thing. One thing that makes this show work so well is the pace.

Can't see a viewer drop off. What fool would stop watching at this point?!

My father quit in season 2 cause he couldnt keep up with who was who and he was bored. Im trying to get him to pick it back up. I told him season 2 was a low point but it got much better.

Dany was his biggest problem. The ending of season 1 made him think she was gonna kick ass in season 2. He's used to standard television stuff. Then in season 2 she was whining and helpless and he just got tired of it. The lack of battles didnt help either. So he quit before he got to The Blackwater episode.

I agree with those that said a GOT movie just wouldn't work. I mean, honestly, let's look at this logically. They still have to cut stuff from the books when they have a 10 hour season. How the heck would they make a 2 hour movie? They couldn't, unless they radically changed the story. That's just a fact. A GOT movie would make no sense. Unless by the last book GRRM has killed off all but a few characters, then it might work.

Poor guy sat through season 2 and didn't even get to see Blackwater. :(

Lol i know right!
I like season 2 more then the vast majority of television. But compared to season 3 and especially season 1, it is very underwhelming. The excellence of Blackwater almost completely makes up for it. Blackwater, Tyrion/Bronn, Theon's reaction to the horn, and Arya's interaction with Tywin and Jaqen.

It happens to all shows.
This ain't all shows! :cmad: Do you expect season 4 to not be up from 3 btw? I was hoping it was going to get that HBO record from Sopranos.

I guess many will prefer something more straightforward for entertainment with less conspiracies & long set ups etc. I'm sure my dad would fall asleep between the major set pieces too haha.

My dad isnt into character pieces either. He didnt like True Detective either. Me on the other hand, I love character studies.

In terms of ratings I'm pretty sure GoT is at Sopranos level. I think it was reported that when taking in account how much it's downloaded it's actually got a higher viewership than any other HBO series.

I think this is definitely getting 80 episodes.

i thought i read somewhere it is the most pirated show in history

I think many people illegally download episodes. Pretty sure they are swashbucklers cotton

I hope this all means that an editor somewhere has a manuscript in his or her office, with another waiting for their review...because George has worked in television. Surely he'd know how the game is played? This is Ned Stark level reasoning.

Ok people need to understand this. AFFC and ADWD will all but be done before season 6 ever airs. There might be a few things left over for season 6, but AFFC and ADWD stuff is already starting this season. Bran, Brienne, Dany. They will not take up two seasons for those books, which are part travelogue, and introduces so many satellite characters. We are going to see WoW stuff in season 5.

exactly.

for example: Brienne has 8 chapters, and what, maybe 6 of them can be made into one tv episode. the same goes for Asha/Yara's, Arianne/Areoh, hell, even Cersei and Jaime have a lot of chapters in which absolutely nothing happens.

there is no way AFFC and ADWD can't be made into all of season 5, they can even have season five ending with [BLACKOUT]Battle of Mereen and season 6 begining with the "Battle in the Ice". or vice versa[/BLACKOUT]

I can't see them going beyond Dany [blackout] flying away with Drogon [/blackout]. I expect the Barristan material and Quentyn material will open season 6.

Stannis' stuff though...

Do you guys see them cutting the ironborn, or possibly rolling Victarion and Euron into one character?
