yeah the "snot-nosed" son of the Lord of the Crossing. when i read that i was like "WHY DUNK, WHY DIDN'T YOU KILL HIM!!!! HE WAS RIGHT THEREEE!!"

Interviewer: Did you read the books? Is that useful to do, or not to do?

Michael McElhatton: It kind of is a bit of a double-edged sword. I did read the first two books and kind of did lots of work before it and then realized that the way they’d written Roose Bolton was very, very different to the character in the books actually. … He’s a creepier character. He has a very soft, whispery voice. You can’t read any emotion on his face whatsoever, and that’s not the way he was written in the scripts and I couldn’t play him [the way he was in the books] because it just wouldn’t have worked. So, I felt I wouldn’t read any more of the books. I had to make my character really from the scripts and from the dialogue that was given to me by the wonderful scripts that were there by David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss].

Interviewer: Did you do anything to decompress after that scene (Red Wedding9? Richard(Madden) got on the plane and he was crying, and I know Michelle(Fairley) ended up having her hair cut, by the hair person on set.

Michael: No, I’m afraid I was much more cynical than that. I just went off and had a drink. I think I was fine.

If he's honest, I kinda love it. There's a YT video from a convention where they ask casts members (even back from seasons 1 and 2) what their reaction. Charles Dance defends Tywin Lannister. My friend said on some other video, he saw a comment that was, "Tywin Lannister should win an Emmy for his portrayal of Charles Dance."

There's an interview with Stephen Dillane that he did a few months back for his tv series "The Tunnel", the interview itself was hilarious because Dillane is brutally honest and blunt about his views on certain things and on GoT, a couple people over at the Westeros site point out that "Stannis Baratheon plays a great Stephen Dillane."

Brienne going after Arya instead of [BLACKOUT]Sansa[/BLACKOUT]
It sounds like they're going to have Brienne racing the Dreadfort to find Arya. If so, it's a massive improvement on her material already.
It is editing, as the show is trying to avoid spoilers unlike the first post. You know, [BLACKOUT]Sansa leaving and why she does[/BLACKOUT]. :wall:

It's not editing, if they wanted to avoid spoilers they wouldn't include it, they've already shown alot of spoilers.

Brienne and Jaimie being present at the Wedding with Sansa there, is the real reason why they're talking about Arya.

Clear editing, as the dialogue is smashed together. Now depending on when the scene takes place, they could be talking about Arya. [BLACKOUT]But when Brienne leaves on her mission, it will be the same that she set out for at the end of season 2.[/BLACKOUT]

This is the only place I have even seen this questioned.

Apparently Dunk the Lunk gets a pretty big mention in the first episode, Joffrey talks about him with Jaime. Arthur Dayne too to a lesser extent.

I want this nub to burn.

I read that last night. Great stuff. Whoever was saying A Song of Ice and Fire isn't intelligent needs to read that... now.

George R.R. Martin says Game of Thrones movies are being actively discussed

It all depends on how long the main series runs. Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know." - See more at: http://m.joblo.com/joblo/news/52962#sthash.pgF0GGCT.dpuf

Im beginning to think Martin doesnt have an actual clue what's going on with this show. He still thinks the show has a chance of going beyond 8 seasons because his books get bigger. News flash Martin: the series is set for 7-8 seasons regardless of your book's length. And now he thinks HBO would bankroll a $100 million dollar theatrical movie? Highly unlikely. Now, goddamnit George, focus on finishing the books!

He is starting to seem delusional about this whole endeavor.

well... maybe they can make prequel movies, such as Dunk and Egg tales, or Aegon's conquest... etc.

i didn't read the article though. my mobile internet is working as hell right now.

Starting? He has been clearly delusional for awhile now. :funny:

Well, I wouldn't say no to a big budget feature length ending. :ninja:

yess i'm slowly losing hope to reading the books before the series.

it's impossible not to love Charles Dance

True. I love his books, but I feel sorry for D&D. He seems like he could be a pain in the ass to deal with. He means well, but he seems like the type who gets in the way and is oblivious to reality. He probably told some random person at HBO about his idea for a film and now he thinks its happening or hell it might just be something he isimagining and hasnt actually discussed with anyone at HBO. Given the way he keeps going on and on about 10 seasons I think he could be lookig right at a ckntract saying 8 seasons and he would still say the show could go for 10 seasons.

I actually think making a big movie to finish the saga off would be a good idea. If the show ended with adapting The Winds of Winter in Season 8 or whatever then jump straight into the big movie in 2019/2020. It would almost certainly mean A Dream of Spring would be released beforehand, could bring in new fans and make Game of Thrones go down in history.

Of course, there's also the fact that a movie would be nearly a decade after the show first started, and the kids would really look their ages. Plus they need to take into account the actual content... The books and show are renowned for the gory violence and vivid sex scenes. Any film would be rated at least R, maybe even NC-17. That would deplete the worldwide gross quite a bit and no one wants to see a toned down finale for the sake of a few buck.

You cant adapt ADOS into a movie.
Its content will be in multiple seasons with other book content. WOW stuff will be in seasons 6 and possibly season 5 at the pace they are moving. They arent waiting til the last season to start getting into WOW content. This is what Martin is refusing to see or accept. The books arent being adapted into seasons. D&D are taking all of whats left and splitting it into 3-4 seasons. This includes the unpublished stuff. Gone are the days of turning a single book into one or two seasons. The final four seasons will have bits from multiple books. So by the end of season 7 or 8 the story will be complete.

Besides these books are not written for cinema. You cant destill any of them down to a 3 act film. They werent written that way. And Martin got his start in television and its visible in his books. His chapters practically end with commercial breaks. Not much happens at the beginning then there is a rising momentum and a cliffhanger and the chapter ends and you go to other characters then come back later to see what happened after the cliffhanger.

What Martin seems to be saying is make the show's finale a movie. Not turn ADOS into a movie, but shoot the last episode as a two hour $100 million dollar film. HBO will never go for this.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but when was it specifically said that the next four seasons will be a varying adaptation of the remaining books? I expected Seasons 5-6 to be a mesh of AFFC and ADWD because they take place at the same time but I don't see any point in bringing in stuff from TWOW if they don't need to yet.

Yep. Couldn't have said it better.

Ok people need to understand this. AFFC and ADWD will all but be done before season 6 ever airs. There might be a few things left over for season 6, but AFFC and ADWD stuff is already starting this season. Bran, Brienne, Dany. They will not take up two seasons for those books, which are part travelogue, and introduces so many satellite characters. We are going to see WoW stuff in season 5.

The most recent was D&D's interview with Variety. The show is set for 7 seasons. Eight at most, and theyve said multiple times since before season 3 premiered that the rest of the series will no longer be one book equals one or two seasons. They are taking material from all of whats left and splitting it amongst the remaining four seasons as they see fit. At this point it is about tellig the overall ASOIAF story. Not about adapting the individual books. Those days ended in Season 3.

They are already covering parts of AFFC and ADWD in season 4. And remember that ASOS is D&D's favorite book with their favorite moments. Theyve never hidden this fact. You really shouldnt expect them to be as beholden to the remaining material. Givent their statements lately I would expect them to play faster and looser with the remaining material.
